The 2017 imploded simply because of the quarterback. I'm not discounting we won in other areas of the field, but their quarterbacks were 13/27 for 152 yards and 3 interceptions. One of which literally ended the game when Trajan Bandy made a house call. Wimbush also lost a fumble, IIRC. The quarterbacks were petrified, and they literally lost the football game because of it.

Beck "demonstrating a strong arm and laser sharp accuracy for weeks" is such fall camp jargon it makes my 4.5 incher hurt. Everyone is an all-american and looks good in camp (except NDs QBs, because you know, people that weren't there said they threw some INTs in camp, reportedly), but until Beck does it in his first real game back, questions will linger (yes - I know - he's going to throw for 400, etc. etc.). And it's not like his play up to this point in his career has been flawless.

Anyone that knows anything knows it takes a new DC installing a brand new defense time to get it cooking. It's not based off any experience with the great and wonderful Al Golden... it's a fact. Just like Carr will likely be better in game 8 vs. game 1, the Miami defense will likely be better in game 8 vs. game 1.

As a matter of fact Miami's defense last year was much better Game 1 vs Game 8.

Any new DC would be thrilled to start their season against team with a QB who has never thrown a collegiate pass and hasn't been tackled since high school. It may take time to "gel" but when you go against a one-dimensional offense that's not much of a worry.

As for Beck, we are telling you why WE are not worried. If you want to get high on your own supply of copium, that's up to you. It's not a question of whether he's an "All-American", it's a question of whether he's recovered from his injury and is now showing the same skills that he amply displayed for the past two seasons. I really don't give a **** about "convincing" you. As I said, you are welcome to believe whatever guesstimates you want to believe about how Carson Beck will never again be what he once was. But Miami fans know better, at least on this particular subject.

As for your dopiness about the defense, I wasn't talking about Al Golden, but thanks for playing the game, we'll send you some consolation prizes. As has already been established above, you are going to tell yourself whatever lies help you to rest easier, as you are doing now by comparing a recently hired DC (who has been a DC before) to the progression of a freshman QB. You came here to start a fight about our "mind-boggling confidence". Are we confident that Beck is fully healed and back to where he was pre-injury? Yes. Are we concerned that he has at least 3 young WRs and at least 2 transfer WRs? ****, we've had dozens of threads acknowledging those concerns over the past 8 months.

So now it's time for you to go away so that you can start fights elsewhere. You're a disrespectful prick who thinks he can say anything he wants on a rival website because it's not affiliated with Rivals or 247 or on3. But that is where you are wrong.

The reason those dopey Irish will be impacted by the environment is because they are overconfident and fail to see the danger until it is inescapable. Their players and their coaches and their fans think that playing in a January bowl game is analogous, or that "playing in College Station" is analogous. ****, I was about to commit first degree murder against some of those smarmy "thank you for coming to the game" aTm fans, and the Miami fans are...a different breed.

But what we DON'T need is a so-called "Miami fan" pontificating about how much better Notre Dame is today, and how they will not be impacted by factors that they continue to belittle and minimize. So? Your DC last year wasn't brand new - he was there the year prior. Who cares if they were better in game 1 or not.

I doubt your DC is "thrilled" to start his season against Jeremiyah Love and a QB he has zero film on. One dimensional? That's a bigfoot sized leap. One dimensional is playing a service academy. ND's offense will be run-first, but not one dimensional by any means.

Yea anyone comparing its two completely different teams and a different time. Automatically ignore future posts by an individual that uses the 2017 game for this one. Crowd energy is affected by players, so play well and the stadium will surpass the noises of any game in the past 10 years.

He has to be him if they super confident. I doubt he’s him but their run game can help him. I don’t think he can carry them at all. We stop the run and they will struggle, but that’s a big if.

The 6'3, 210-pound Carr is the grandson of famed Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. The Saline (Mich.) High product was ranked as the #6 quarterback out of high school and is considered more of a pocket passer than his primary competitor at QB, Kenny Minchey. He has yet to throw a pass in a college game.

Multiple reports indicated previously that Minchey was the favorite for the job, as Irish offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock had prior success with dual-threat QBs like Desmond Ridder, Jayden Daniels and Riley Leonard.

I guarantee that will get a pop out of the crowd, and anything to further make a first time starting QB feel even more down in a big moment like this helps imo.

Like imagine it's a close game in 3rd quarter and we get a pick. It's loud but then the music changes and the camera zooms in on a coach holding up the chain and the players going crazy... The place would be buzzing longer than it would otherwise imo

I don't think we need to have it any other game, but ND 2017 WAS the turnover chain game imo. It'd make sense to me...
