CJ Carr named starting QB for Notre Dame

Honestly I get people hate it but I would be very down to break out the OG turnover chain on the first turnover this game.

I guarantee that will get a pop out of the crowd, and anything to further make a first time starting QB feel even more down in a big moment like this helps imo.

Like imagine it's a close game in 3rd quarter and we get a pick. It's loud but then the music changes and the camera zooms in on a coach holding up the chain and the players going crazy... The place would be buzzing longer than it would otherwise imo

I don't think we need to have it any other game, but ND 2017 WAS the turnover chain game imo. It'd make sense to me...

I'd imagine the atmosphere this year will be much closer to the 2017 game than it will be the typical ND home game, which is often quieter than your average middle school classroom.

Hard Rock can get loud and ND players/fans are going to apparently be surprised by that once again.

I think this’ll be a good and competitive game, but the ND confidence is mind boggling. Freshman QB that’s never take a live or been hit. They can’t just rely on love, who was shut down at various points last year.

Can say the same in reverse.

The Canes fan confidence is mind boggling. New QB that missed the spring in a new offense coming off a major arm injury, all new WRs, new DC with an influx of new players usually takes time to gel, etc.

The idea that Love is nothing more than a cream puff stat-padder is also funny.

We will see if it reaches ND 2017 levels.

We were ranked 7 and undefeated while they were ranked 3rd with 1 loss. It's a little different when you were just coming off that VTech game with a great performance and are doing very well already and have all the hype of the turnover chain adding to the excitement....

Plus the game started off pretty well for us which is an important aspect of all this.

I'm hopeful it'll match that environment or at least be close.
Agree 100% wit the lead up in regards to VT game.. That was a hype game but perfect for build up to ND.. That was such a fun game and gave a glimpse of what that stadium could do..

Do you speak Italian? Do you know what vaffanculo means?

Well, at least our QB has a ring already and has actually thrown a pass in a college game. Oh, and you have a new DC as well, at least in name only.

I don’t think Canes fans have the same level of confidence that ND people are exhibiting. No one’s saying Love is a cream puff, just that he was shut down at various points last year and that there’s a path to limit him.

The 2017 game is irrelevant at this point. Different teams, different coaches, different schemes. No comparison. Also - perhaps my comment about sold out games is irrelevant also, but history has shown that sell out large crowds are not the norm.
As others pointed out you’d have to be retarded if you think the gameplay of 2017 would impact this game. What is true is stadium factors will likely be the same.

Also ND just coming off a National Championship game… those players probably won’t be as surprised by the environment as the 2017 ND team was.

Shut the **** up, dip****.

Nobody said "Love is nothing more than a cream puff stat-padder". That's some nonsense you invented to justify your sense of mock outrage.

As for "New QB that missed the spring in a new offense coming off a major arm injury", just keep repeating that to yourself so that you can sleep at night. Beck is not "new" like Carr is new. As for all the other words you strung together, sure, we would actually be concerned if Beck hadn't been demonstrating a strong arm and laser-sharp accuracy for weeks now.

And look, I've read your sites, I know you are trying to build this "new DC witn an influx of new players usually takes time to gel" talking point based on what YOUR former DC (current HC) experienced in his rough start at ND. But you should be careful about generalizing based on YOUR ONE EXPERIENCE. Maybe your prediction will come true. And maybe it won't. We will find out in 10 days.

So spin as many myths as you like, the one thing that you can't deny is that Carr is a freshman and will likely not be anywhere near as good in Start 1 of his collegiate career as he will be by the end of his collegiate career.

I heard Notre Dame sells out all its games. I also heard Notre Dame hasn't won a national championship in 40 years. Seems to really make a difference for you guys. But I guess when you haven't won a national championship in 40 years you need to cling to something.

And it's cool you got to sit with 105,000 people in Texas A&M who also haven't won a national championship in their lifetime. Total bonding experience.

Settle down bubba - you're going to get yourself too worked up here and do yourself some damage getting all "outraged" like you are. Save it for the game, not some message board 10 days before kickoff. You're going to empty the gas tank too early at this pace.

Beck "demonstrating a strong arm and laser sharp accuracy for weeks" is such fall camp jargon it makes my 4.5 incher hurt. Everyone is an all-american and looks good in camp (except NDs QBs, because you know, people that weren't there said they threw some INTs in camp, reportedly), but until Beck does it in his first real game back, questions will linger (yes - I know - he's going to throw for 400, etc. etc.). And it's not like his play up to this point in his career has been flawless.

Anyone that knows anything knows it takes a new DC installing a brand new defense time to get it cooking. It's not based off any experience with the great and wonderful Al Golden... it's a fact. Just like Carr will likely be better in game 8 vs. game 1, the Miami defense will likely be better in game 8 vs. game 1.

Their quarterback stood on the sidelines drinking gatorade during that game.

Much, much different animal when you have the fate of the team in your hands.
Oh I mean I agree with you. Ultimately their QB making his first start in this environment is a MAJOR factor in our favor. But they expect to have an elite RB, OLine, and Defense all of whom are experienced in big moments, and improved at WR. Just saying I very much doubt this years ND will be as heavily impacted by the environment as the 2017 team, with the exception of QB. But I think Carr is much more talented than Wimbush and Ian book were too...

The 2017 team imploded simply because of the quarterback. I'm not discounting we won in other areas of the field, but their quarterbacks were 13/27 for 152 yards and 3 interceptions. One of which literally ended the game when Trajan Bandy made a house call. Wimbush also lost a fumble, IIRC. The quarterbacks were petrified, and they literally lost the football game because of it.

We had a drive in the first half where we ran 3 plays, gained 1 yard, had a 5 yard penalty.......and scored 3 points. Their QBs completely **** themselves.
