The 2017 imploded simply because of the quarterback. I'm not discounting we won in other areas of the field, but their quarterbacks were 13/27 for 152 yards and 3 interceptions. One of which literally ended the game when Trajan Bandy made a house call. Wimbush also lost a fumble, IIRC. The quarterbacks were petrified, and they literally lost the football game because of it.

It appears that the opener is not sold out yet. Also - did not realize it only holds 65,000 vs the 107,000 Texas A&M capacity crowd ND faced last year in the opener. Not too worried about the crowd, Miami fans are fair weather fans and will be headed for the exits by the middle of the 3rd Qtr.

Settle down bubba - you're going to get yourself too worked up here and do yourself some damage getting all "outraged" like you are. Save it for the game, not some message board 10 days before kickoff. You're going to empty the gas tank too early at this pace.

Beck "demonstrating a strong arm and laser sharp accuracy for weeks" is such fall camp jargon it makes my 4.5 incher hurt. Everyone is an all-american and looks good in camp (except NDs QBs, because you know, people that weren't there said they threw some INTs in camp, reportedly), but until Beck does it in his first real game back, questions will linger (yes - I know - he's going to throw for 400, etc. etc.). And it's not like his play up to this point in his career has been flawless.

Anyone that knows anything knows it takes a new DC installing a brand new defense time to get it cooking. It's not based off any experience with the great and wonderful Al Golden... it's a fact. Just like Carr will likely be better in game 8 vs. game 1, the Miami defense will likely be better in game 8 vs. game 1.

As a matter of fact Miami's defense last year was much better Game 1 vs Game 8.

Any new DC would be thrilled to start their season against team with a QB who has never thrown a collegiate pass and hasn't been tackled since high school. It may take time to "gel" but when you go against a one-dimensional offense that's not much of a worry.

Look, dopey, you're the one ginning up your own outrage with demonstrably false statements that no Miami fan made ("Love is a stats-padder").

As for Beck, we are telling you why WE are not worried. If you want to get high on your own supply of copium, that's up to you. It's not a question of whether he's an "All-American", it's a question of whether he's recovered from his injury and is now showing the same skills that he amply displayed for the past two seasons. I really don't give a **** about "convincing" you. As I said, you are welcome to believe whatever guesstimates you want to believe about how Carson Beck will never again be what he once was. But Miami fans know better, at least on this particular subject.

As for your dopiness about the defense, I wasn't talking about Al Golden, but thanks for playing the game, we'll send you some consolation prizes. As has already been established above, you are going to tell yourself whatever lies help you to rest easier, as you are doing now by comparing a recently hired DC (who has been a DC before) to the progression of a freshman QB. Good lord, you are stupid.

You came here to start a fight about our "mind-boggling confidence". Are we confident that Beck is fully healed and back to where he was pre-injury? Yes. Are we concerned that he has at least 3 young WRs and at least 2 transfer WRs? ****, we've had dozens of threads acknowledging those concerns over the past 8 months.

So now it's time for you to go away so that you can start fights elsewhere. You're a disrespectful prick who thinks he can say anything he wants on a rival website because it's not affiliated with Rivals or 247 or on3. But that is where you are wrong.

Stop lying. Stop making up things that Miami fans never said. There's nothing wrong with confidence, but you have veered into "walking into someone's house and thinking that you can talk disrespectful and false **** without being punched in the mouth".

Oh I mean I agree with you. Ultimately their QB making his first start in this environment is a MAJOR factor in our favor. But they expect to have an elite RB, OLine, and Defense all of whom are experienced in big moments, and improved at WR. Just saying I very much doubt this years ND will be as heavily impacted by the environment as the 2017 team, with the exception of QB. But I think Carr is much more talented than Wimbush and Ian book were too...

Once again, you feel the need to cape for an opponent because you think you are "keepin' it real".

The reason those dopey Irish will be impacted by the environment is because they are overconfident and fail to see the danger until it is inescapable. Their players and their coaches and their fans think that playing in a January bowl game is analogous, or that "playing in College Station" is analogous. ****, I was about to commit first degree murder against some of those smarmy "thank you for coming to the game" aTm fans, and the Miami fans are...a different breed.

But what we DON'T need is a so-called "Miami fan" pontificating about how much better Notre Dame is today, and how they will not be impacted by factors that they continue to belittle and minimize. How about you just shut up for 10 days, and then if everything goes Notre Dame's way, you are welcome to come back here to tell us how "you told us so".

Until then, put on your helmet, soldier, and stop talking.

So? Your DC last year wasn't brand new - he was there the year prior. Who cares if they were better in game 1 or not.

I doubt your DC is "thrilled" to start his season against Jeremiyah Love and a QB he has zero film on. One dimensional? That's a bigfoot sized leap. One dimensional is playing a service academy. ND's offense will be run-first, but not one dimensional by any means.

For your 4th post, do you have a score prediction or did I miss it?

The 2017 game is irrelevant at this point. Different teams, different coaches, different schemes. No comparison. Also - perhaps my comment about sold out games is irrelevant also, but history has shown that sell out large crowds are not the norm.
Yea anyone comparing its two completely different teams and a different time. Automatically ignore future posts by an individual that uses the 2017 game for this one. Crowd energy is affected by players, so play well and the stadium will surpass the noises of any game in the past 10 years.

Zero film on Carr? ****, we have all of his high school highlights to watch...

Uh-oh, Miami is going to be taken by surprise by a freshman QB, all because we have ZERO FILM on the guy...I'm petrified...

Talk about "bigfoot sized leaps". That's all you've done for your handful of pathetic posts.

It's just funny to watch you flail. Somehow, Miami fans should be terrified of a freshman QB on whom we have "zero film", but you are allowed to be dismissive of a QB who has thrown for nearly 8,000 yards in college because he suffered an injury from which he has fully recovered?

Whatever lies you need to tell yourself...

I think this’ll be a good and competitive game, but the ND confidence is mind boggling. Freshman QB that’s never take a live or been hit. They can’t just rely on love, who was shut down at various points last year.
He has to be him if they super confident. I doubt he’s him but their run game can help him. I don’t think he can carry them at all. We stop the run and they will struggle, but that’s a big if.

Carr is not "him". He will definitely not be "him" at HRS next Sunday.

Notre Dame announced that redshirt freshman CJ Carr will be the starting quarterback for the opener against Miami.

The 6'3, 210-pound Carr is the grandson of famed Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. The Saline (Mich.) High product was ranked as the #6 quarterback out of high school and is considered more of a pocket passer than his primary competitor at QB, Kenny Minchey. He has yet to throw a pass in a college game.

Multiple reports indicated previously that Minchey was the favorite for the job, as Irish offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock had prior success with dual-threat QBs like Desmond Ridder, Jayden Daniels and Riley Leonard.

Honestly I get people hate it but I would be very down to break out the OG turnover chain on the first turnover this game.

I guarantee that will get a pop out of the crowd, and anything to further make a first time starting QB feel even more down in a big moment like this helps imo.

Like imagine it's a close game in 3rd quarter and we get a pick. It's loud but then the music changes and the camera zooms in on a coach holding up the chain and the players going crazy... The place would be buzzing longer than it would otherwise imo

I don't think we need to have it any other game, but ND 2017 WAS the turnover chain game imo. It'd make sense to me...
