CJ Carr named starting QB for Notre Dame

For me the poster child for Freshman phenom is Trevor Lawrence so I went back and checked out his ascension to the starting role at Clemson. Even Lawrence was eased in and while he was efficient and flashed he wasn’t exactly lighting up good defenses in the early part of the season.

Honestly what’s the best example of a situation like this that has worked out for the team that decided to start a zero experience underclassmen in a game of this magnitude on the road?
I thinks Trevor’s first game was against t8&4. I recall him struggling. But had a steady trend upward. But that was true freshman year. Can’t think of any others. Brad kaaya struggled against Louisville I think

First snap of his career. Top ten matchup. On the road in a hostile environment. Heat and humidity he’s not used to. Against an entire new defensive roster he’s not seen tape on. Against an entire new defensive scheme hes not seen tape of our players in.

Oh and he’s also going head to head with the most experienced and proven quarterback in college football.

We are going to stomp this team. We didn’t lose at home last year and we are not going to lose at home this year. Canes by two scores+

I looked at the plays Minchey made in the spring game...and he's a smoother athlete...can and will run, but no touch whatsoever.

Still imagine their game plan will be the same. Long, methodical drives that eat up clock. Play great D on the other side. This is like playing a better version of GTech, hopefully that game last year taught us a few things.

It’d be really interesting to know how they are going to split the reps the next two weeks. That’ll be all anyone needs to know about their confidence level in Carr.

If Minchey still gettting 40% of the reps and they have a lot of “packages” for him then if I was Carr I’d know my leash was very short. That would amp up the pressure to perform knowing the staff is prepped to pull you if you struggle.
Exactly. I don’t think people realize how beneficial it is to get most of the first team reps especially for someone who has never played.

Beck doesn’t share snaps even though he’s played enough where he could and still perform well.

So you have this kid that doesn’t get all the first team snaps even though he needs it and he knows if he ***** I up I have a short leash.

That’s why the expression if you have two QBs you have no QBs rings true.

He’s either going to be a legend or the coaching staff destroyed his career. No middle ground lol

Shades of 2017. Bring in that backup right before the 2nd half. What's the worst that can happen?!?!
Still my favorite Canes meme

Jameis Winston was pretty good in Game 1 of his redshirt freshman year.

But we ain't Pitt.
The nightmare RS FR I remember was Sam Bradford. I was still arrogant Canes fan in '07. I was thinking, this is just his second game ever. We're gonna win of course. And, oh boy.

I went back and looked at the stats-he was 19-25, but it felt like he completed every pass.
