CJ Carr named starting QB for Notre Dame

I don't know why this wasn't obvious. Lol. Who thought the other dude had a legit shot when they let the other guy walk to Syracuse who actually played a little last year for them?

Carr is obviously the more talented one and obviously the right choice long-term. Maybe game 1 he makes some mistakes - which obviously works to our favor potentially. But deciding to not start Carr would be like if we went with Emory over Nickel next year.... Lol

It’s all a ruse, I tell ya…I don’t trust Freeman. We fall for that first time QB stuff into a lull, they unleash the run game at us. GT gave them a sneak peek last season. Our D will have to grow up fast in this game and fight relentlessly, while our O will have to be productive on every possession.

Freeman by the 3rd Quarter....

Does this matter in a significant manner?

Not being a dyck, I have no idea on either of their options.

All other things being equal, and given what we know about Miami's defensive tendencies over the past few decades, I would say that we would probably prefer not to face a more mobile QB. And instead face a very inexperienced pocket-passer QB.

The sneak peak GT gave them last year means absolutely nothing. We have a bunch of new players, a new coach, and new scheme.......

Reading the tea leaves . . . ND's offense is pretty conservative. I assume that they were scared of Minchey and the potential for turnovers. I assume Carr is more conservative and likely won't make a bad mistake.

The nightmare RS FR I remember was Sam Bradford. I was still arrogant Canes fan in '07. I was thinking, this is just his second game ever. We're gonna win of course. And, oh boy.

I went back and looked at the stats-he was 19-25, but it felt like he completed every pass.

Yeah, that's a good one. That game was at home, though.

And I'm hoping the 2025 Miami and ND teams are a lot closer in talent than the 2007 Miami and OU teams. We went 5-7 that year and that's when OU was winning 10 games in their sleep.

I think they are going to try an replicate GT runs on us after they beat us with a lame QB and a freshman. If we stop em we should have a good chance of winning.

It’s not a horrible strategy, plenty of instances with us beating ourselves. Last two years vs GT were perfect examples….

No matter who plays for the opponent, the thing we MUST see differently this year is the penalties. We’ve been very poor in the 3 years under Mario. Can’t give ND free first downs because of bonehead mistakes.

Let me be perfectly clear:

I know ND is a very good football team. I know Freeman is a good coach, I know they have a lot of good athletes. They competed for a national title last year. They have recruited well and hit the portal well.

I know CJ Carr was a very highly ranked recruit, and is very talented. He might very well turn out to be a high-level player.

But you cannot, under any circumstances, let a kid who has never, in his life, thrown a pass in a collegiate football game, walk into your building, on Labor Day weekend, at night, in front of a billion people on TV and the singular most repulsive, terrifying, and hostile environment HE WILL EVER SEE......and beat you.

I'm sorry. I know ND is favored. I know they're "better" on paper. I don't give a ****. Maybe the kid learns a ton from this game and is lights-out the rest of his career. ****, maybe he wins a Heisman. But the very first time he takes the field, IN THAT ******* ZOO, he dies. Period. If he goes like 9/16 for 134 yards, but ND wins some other way, I'll tip my cap. But that kid can't beat you. You have to make his life a living ****. DM his old lady. Call his hotel room all night before the game. Rock the buses. Whatever we have to do for him to be ****ting down his leg. You can't lose to a kid playing ball for the first time, not with how good our team is. It's time to hunt.
My man.

I agree with the porsts saying they both play.

As mentioned previously, my feeling is that there will be packages for QB2, just can’t guess what % of total snaps, but could be 40% or less.

Highly unlikely he takes 100% of the snaps. Have to be flexible enough on defensive preparation.

Test for the DBs and LBs early on. He seems to like to target the TEs. Hopefully Wes, Toure, Wiley, Pruitt, and Popo are ready. Obviously the offense will be centered around their running game and the best RB in the country though.
Nd is hype about Eli raridon too.. expected to break out this season.. probably one of main weapons after run game
