That could play into Miami’s hands. Love is not a workhorse (often injured in 2024), and the absence of a running QB is really going to affect the way they run their offense. Leonard as a QB had 184 attempts for 906 yards, 4.92 per carry and 17 TD.

He had 21 more carries than Love and 64 more than Price. That tells me that their offense lives and dies by the QB run and now they have a statue back there.

In 2024 there was not one game where Love ran the ball more than 16 times and only 5 games over 100 yards. FSU held him to 9 carries for 19 yards LOL

Jadarian Price in 2024, only had one game over 100 yards and not a single game with more than 12 carries.

Looking at these stats, Love really made hay off the soft underbelly of that schedule. And that schedule in general looks pretty dang weak. Outside of Pedo State, Taint and puppies, not a lotta meat there. And is that for real that they only had 3 road games?

Very real lol. Love was bottled up by every defense with a pulse. I do believe he will be a better player this year, but he is no Barry Sanders. It is proven that he can be stopped.

Freeman is good. One thing I noticed though which is crazy to me. All of last season, they played 3 road games. All year. Week 1 at A&M, and that game was tied at the 2 minute warning. They played at Purdue, who was the worst P4 team in the country. And at SC as you mentioned, they gave up 550 yards of offense, and the game was 35-28 ND, USC ball, 1st and 10 on the ND 21 with 4 mins left.

They threw back to back pick sixes and lost 49-35.
Lance Guidry was the better defensive mind on the field when they played…

(Hyperbole I think Freeman is a very good coach even being a ****** Suckeye Domer hybrid)

Freshman QB making his first start against Miami. UM defensive line better dominate this game…..

I saw a slow statue throwing to another slow, lumbering TE. Let's eat.
I watched a couple HS highlights and their scrimmage highlights. I don't think Carr is slow or a statue. He's able to move in the pocket and was able to escape pressure on several occasions. That said, it does not appear that he is a willing runner. So he's not a dual threat in the sense that I don't expect him to be taking off a whole lot. I wonder if ND calls some designed runs for him early just to keep D off balance though?

He seems to struggle with pressure up the middle. His footwork in those instances was bad, i.e., throwing off back foot.

Edit: There were a couple clips of him eluding pressure by turning his back to defense and running in opposite direction. That's not usually something you can get away with in college. We can really capitalize on this. I'm sure he'll learn what he can and can't get away with in college but we should feast in his first game while he's learning.

I was lucky enough to be there in 2017.

I really hope all the lucky folks who get to go to this one show up with the same mindset the fan base had that night.

To a man/woman those who were there will say it was the closest thing to the real deal since the early 2000s.

Embrace that identity. The fans who are going need to show up knowing you can have one of the greatest Hurricane experiences of your life if you just do your part and behave like a raging lunatic for 90 minutes or so.
I've talked about this before, but unless you were there, you cannot fathom how loud and hostile that environment was. 2017 was the craziest environment I've ever seen, anywhere. We need the same energy here.

People are really downplaying the QB angle here. Guy has never taken a live snap in CFB. Their OC has also only ever called an O with a mobile QB under center.

The guy is going to have to make some plays, they can’t rely on love to win this game for them by himself.

Doesn’t matter who the quarterback is for Notre Dame.

What matters is how Miami’s new defense plays. Do not repeatedly call goofy stunts and defensive lineman in zone coverage. Play sound fundamental football. Tackle with violence. Communicate in the secondary.

Do your ******* job.

Miami wins.
