CJ Bailey needs to come home

With our OL, run game and defense we’ll be fine with any of these guys.I mean Beck has us in the playoff for god sakes . On top of that the wr core will be even better next year. So we don’t need the perfect qb , we just need a guy that has pretty good arm talent , good accuracy / ball placement , brings leadership and hard work. There’s no perfect guy out there but there’s enough talent on this roster to life up somebody that’s had to carry too much of the load at a lesser program. We don’t need a Cam to come in and throw for 375 every game to keep our heads a float, btw there’s not any of those walking through the door anyways.

Yea, I mean, even now, Sellers has happy feet and a throwing motion that will lead to errant throws. He has work to do. He will be volatile.

But dam is his ceiling high. If used if the right system with a good supporting cast, there is no reason he cant be in Heisman talks.

With that said, his risk is so high, he would be last on my list of qbs I listed lol. Ijs, I wouldnt be depressed if it was him. I could rally and hype myself up with him.

Now Emory Williams? Id be depressed af.
I’m with you. Dawson makes things pretty easy on QBs so I keep that in mind. Sellers with Toney in Dawsons offense could be electric

I’m also a big Nickel guy so if it didn’t work out I don’t think our season is necessarily over

I’m not really AGAINST any of the names being mentioned either I can see why people like Bailey/Leavitt etc

I was never a big Beck fan but I was ok with him because I knew it’s a very qb friendly offense and it would help him. I trust Dawson with most of the names mentioned and believe we’d win with most of them. I just want accuracy. Also I’d like somebody who can move the chains with his legs when things break down. Not Michael Vick.

Same page. Like last year I wasn’t wowed with the idea of Mendoza but taking a step back I figured he’d win a lot of games here. Many QBs would.

You were spot on about Beck. I’d actually take the guy other people promised Beck would be. Good decisions. Move the chains, keep us on time etc

I didn’t know much about Beck but it’s still shocking the erratic throws he makes as a veteran guy. He gets away with a lot of them but yeah you were absolutely right

I get the concept of preferences and who you prefer.

But honest question, you think with Raiola or Sellers on next years team, we cant win the ACC or make playoffs?

Our schedule is easier. Our talent base is growing. And we have a lot of returning talent.

One concern I do have is the oline will be completely rebuilt. For that, a pocket passer like Raiola could be a risk. But watching his tape, he can make excellent throws off platform, so it could work.
IMO, I don’t think we can lose more than 1 game next year and I don’t believe we can win with Sellers or Raiola at ND.

The ACC is a ******* abortion of a conference and losing 1 conference game next year I don’t believe is an option and the best way to keep teams in games is with indecisive QBs and turnover prone QBs.

That Clemson game next year is a must win. I know Sellers has played Clemson before but I don’t trust that guy to not lose those 2 games.

Until we're sure of who the OC will be next season, I don't know how any of these questions are answered by people who don't even get to evaluate these players up close. At least if we knew it's Dawson, we could generally guess how a skill set would fit into a known system.
I don't even think there are any HC jobs available. Though I suppose with coordinators moving some schools could grab HCs to be their coordinator... But then that's kinda a signal that HC job isn't as good as a high paid OC job...

So, you are arguing for Bailey possibly being even better on a team like UM?

Because that’s my argument.

Last year I said we should take Mendoza after I initially said no.

Same thing this year when I said we should take Leavitt, whom I like. I had said no to Bailey. That thought process changed after looking at more video and looking at more data.

Bailey would do very well here, IMO!
Yes

A quarterback, struggling against the better teams, is always a red flag. In the history of football, that’s always a red flag. I could give two craps, what he did against average teams. Give me Levitt, that’s the guy we need if we wanna win next year.
Levitt has struggled vs good teams too and his accuracy is a concern. Dude barely completes 60% of his passes. He wasn’t good vs texas in the playoffs. He completed 52% of his passes no tds and a pick

Anyone have any idea how Nickel is progressing? Hopefully well enough that a one year portal QB and then Nickel will be that plan

At this point, if Dawson comes back as OC, am fine with whichever portal QB(s) he targets. Track record is pretty, pretty, pretty good. If that's Bailey, so be it.

(Would prefer we steer clear of Leavitt if he can't participate in spring practice. I think we nearly missed the playoff largely because it took a while for Beck to get comfortable and play well)
