CJ Bailey needs to come home

Bingo.

The board loves to rip up any qb option. Every qb is going to have positives and negatives. Ppl need to realize it's relative. There is no Cam Ward in the portal this year. Mendoza is a product of Cignetti.

The good thing is, this year's crop of qbs seems the deepest. I truly believe with next year's team, we can make the playoffs with any of these qbs (if used properly)

Leavitt
Sorsby
Bailey
Raiola
Sellers

And probably a few more I can add to that list.

Next years team will be good, we dont need a perfect #1 overall draft pick.

Leavitt is injured, and represents a "Carson Beck" risk (potentially no spring practice)
Sorsby will likely go in the NFL draft
Bailey, I've said what I've said
Raiola is a UM legacy and MIGHT grow up if he gets out of Nebraska
Sellers I am less sold on, but I realize he could make a big 1-year jump to in a great spot like Miami

I'd love to find the experience of Ward/Beck, but I don't think someone like that will be available.

This is why I don't like 'just get another qb out of the portal' tactic every year. Might not be one you want, and if there is.. everybody wants him.

Bailey adds
Who in the world cares if Mendoza busts in the league? He's leading the #1 team in the country and is about to win the Heisman trophy. After a kid leaves here, if he wanted to go live on the moon, I couldn't care less. Just win here.

Also, just a totally unnecessary stray at Kelly McGillis here. Yeah, she’s aged like an avocado on the surface of the sun, but she didn’t think she’d catch a DMoney roundhouse while having her morning coffee reading about her Canes.
To be fair he could be referring to Meg Ryan too. :D

We've been recruiting QB much better. There is a transition phase tho, so we need the portal rn.

But Nickel and Coleman, are leaps and bounds better recruits than Emory and Judd.

Darian Mensah.
Why would he want to leave a conference champ for a CFP team?!?!

Keep Raiola and Sellers far away from here, please!

The other 3 are my QB top targets.
I get the concept of preferences and who you prefer.

But honest question, you think with Raiola or Sellers on next years team, we cant win the ACC or make playoffs?

Our schedule is easier. Our talent base is growing. And we have a lot of returning talent.

One concern I do have is the oline will be completely rebuilt. For that, a pocket passer like Raiola could be a risk. But watching his tape, he can make excellent throws off platform, so it could work.

I agree with everything you said. I realize each qb comes with some type of risk, but thats the thing, they all have them.

What have you said on Bailey? I dont think I've seen it.

Sellers has huge risk, but I watch a few USCe games and his supporting cast was truly ***. McShay mentioned on his podcast that despite the production, Sellers actually showed improvement on a few important things. But yes, he is probably the highest risk/reward situation out of all of them.

Something to keep in mind when you watch Saturday's Heisman ceremony:

CJ Bailey (two years at NC State)

68%, 5,297 yards, 7.9 YPA, 40 TDS, 19 INTs, 494 rushing yards, 10 TDs

Fernando Mendoza (two years at Cal)

66%, 4,712 yards, 7.5 YPA, 30 TDs, 16 INTs, 197 rushing yards, 4 TDs

When I first brought up Mendoza as a Miami option last year, most of the responses were, "We can do better," "We're only talking about him because he's from South Florida," or worse. Those posts aged like the girl from Top Gun.
Mendoza didn’t start until week 6 his redshirt freshmen year.

The way he stunk up the Rock this year left a lasting impression. I don't see him mimicking Mendoza's trajectory - but I also spent the night at a CIS Holiday Inn last night so...

I like Sorsby the most, then Leavitt, then Sellers/Bailey tied. I actually think you take away the shenanigans from Raola and he’s enticing too.

My sellers love is all about the ceiling and I think the rushing ability raises the floor.

@TwentySix and I had a few people calling us idiots because we said Sellers wouldn’t be a top 10 pick and he should come back to school early this season

If Dawson is back and we committed to RPO (I know that’s a broad vague term) I’d bet he could be very successful here

Sorsby has been my target for two years but if he does come back his price tag will be astronomical and he’s not THAT good to me

We can spend big so I’m not sure who is actually an option though. Don’t think anyone was thinking Carson Beck at this point last year

Yea, I mean, even now, Sellers has happy feet and a throwing motion that will lead to errant throws. He has work to do. He will be volatile.

But dam is his ceiling high. If used if the right system with a good supporting cast, there is no reason he cant be in Heisman talks.

With that said, his risk is so high, he would be last on my list of qbs I listed lol. Ijs, I wouldnt be depressed if it was him. I could rally and hype myself up with him.

Now Emory Williams? Id be depressed af.
