CJ Bailey needs to come home

A lot of these dudes don’t watch football outside of Canes or ACC ball. If they think Beck is bad, holy ****. Bro is an int magnet that’s inaccurate AF.
the only time he looked decent was when marcel reed was trying to win a bet in the first half. once his bet cleared, reed destroyed sellers and showed what even a decent QB looks like

I heard the same thing repeatedly about Mendoza last year at this time.

If Bailey jumps in the Portal, he’ll be at or near the top of the 247 QB transfer rankings. The same thing happened with Mendoza and people were surprised.

The national perception of Bailey is higher than on this board.
Simple question - were you impressed with what you saw by Bailey last night against a bad FSU defense?

I like Quarterback A, but here is a simple scenario to show how out of whack the board's perception of CJ Bailey is compared to reality:

QUARTERBACK A: 2,518 yards (61.5%), 13 TDs, 9 INTs, 126.5 QB rating, -111 rushing yards, 2 TDs (10 starts)
QUARTERBACK B: 2,413 yards (64.9%), 17 TDs, 10 INTs, 144 QB rating, 279 rushing yards, 5 TDs (10 starts)

Quarterback A is Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. Quarterback B is CJ Bailey as a true freshman. Same conference.

Again, the national perception of CJ Bailey is much different than what you read on this board. Same story as Mendoza.

Just don't bring me a statue and someone who doesn't stare at first reads and throws with anticipation. I don't want someone with all the tools and just looks at one guy then gets flustered when that read isn't there. Bring me someone who can do everything, sometimes stats are misleading ash though. CJ can make all the throws can do all that stuff its just other things I want my QB to do. Whoever we get I would root for regardless

I firmly believe Emory can go win 5 games at NC State.
emory using his pastor-like quality and "good kid"-ness to win 5 games vs FBS competition

CJ may transfer and go to an SEC school. For us, I just worry the pressure might be too much for him here as a hometown kid. As @DMoney said, there seem to be a lot of options and he's certainly a good one.

you haven't watched emory then
I think he looks worse this year than he did as a freshman in regards to his passing. I know he’s only had limited opportunities, but his passing is bad. I think Kirby Freeman had a better arm than Emory.

He is wildly inconsistent
But his ol pass blocking is atrocious and you can tell he is completely uncomfortable
Poor kid needs to get out of there to develop

just forced myself to watch that 2nd half so i could see Bailey winning them that game cause i turned that **** off after 1H...

the punter (and FSUs Special ed Teams) won them that ****. got the ball back 2x after Bailey failing to move the ball vs these scrubs. Good throw i guess, great catch by TE. but ****Dat. Enjoy Raleigh for another year or two young man.

Watched game solely to see Bailey again. Game was a mess, especially 4th quarter. Bailey has a lot of supporters due to South Florida roots, but both QBs were hard to watch - both capable of making a play or two to get you beat. Bailey has some tools & needs serious coaching.

I may have a bad memory but I think Mendoza was looked at more favorably than Bailey. Mendoza never looked this bad last year.

Dawson's recruiting ability leaves something to be desired.....

Amazing how quick everyone forgets how bad Mendoza looked vs FSU last year. It is wild how QBs look better when you put better talent around them. Not saying Bailey is my number one choice but I’m sure he would look better behind an OLine that doesn’t give up multiple sacks on 3 man rushes.

Really the only difference in the perception of Bailey this year and Mendoza last year is that Bailey has won more games. Bailey’s ceiling and potential can’t be ignored. Up to the staff to determine if they believe they can develop him. Nobody was beating down the door for us to get Mendoza this offseason but now that he is performing everyone swears it’s Mario’s biggest miss.
