Chickillo: "At Miami they asked me

Its hard to say. Chick obviously isn't explosive in the 270 range he played at the last 2 years. But he was also an end on a 3-4 not an outside LB like say Justin Houston from the Chiefs. He does play well at the point of attack as a 3-4 End but his skill set coming out of HS was 4-3 rush the passer. They ignored that and put them into their system.

Would he have been more productive at the 250 range as a 4-3 DE? I think so.

It a boils down to the scheme. We ask our DL is asked to play gap control. The coaches want to say we are blitzing more and playing ally of man. OK fair enough but that is the secondary. What are we doing on the Dline to be more aggressive? I haven't seen this team wreak havoc on the DLine at all these past 4 years.

Risk vs reward. I'd rather let the Dline pin their ears back then have Burns cb blitz every once in awhile. Watch Mizzous defense. There is a reason why they have had the best Dline in the SEC the last couple years. Every year they have a D end or 2 with 12+ sacks.

Poor kid.

Hyped by the same fans who now shlt on him and use him as a scapegoat for Al.

If the recruiting pitch was honest - "come to Miami, gain 70 pounds while sensibly setting the edge and controlling a gap" - I doubt he would've signed.

Nothing ****es me off more than the Golden acolytes blaming the players, just like their favorite head coach.

Chickillo was a big-time prospect coming out of high school who shined against the UA all-star competition. Then he comes here and is mired in the mediocrity of this Big 10 scheme

in regards to chick, even though he was MVP of under armor game, he was not a great athlete. he is not jj watt. he has no explosiveness.

now, if you say Tyriq McCord or AQM didnt develop like they should, thats different. those kids are elite athletes for their size.

He might have, because he's one of those kids who just wanted to come here, and he probably would have been convinced by this used car salesman staff that he would be put in a position to succeed despite his "new" role.

Chickillo had a good freshman year, until he was tainted. 38 tackles, 5 sacks, 6.5 TFL, 1 FF, 1 FR. I'll take that from a freshman everyday of the week.

Watch what they do with Jermaine Grace. Dude will come to camp looking like a tick that just sucked all the blood out of a deer. Teammates will start calling him Tick.

Chad Thomas will be saying the same thing when he graduates. Chick could have been better than what he was during his time here. Unfortunately he was ruined by golden.

Played his best football as a True Freshman!

Was a beast in the V-Tech game at 18 years old.

Stop blaming the d-line coach. When jethro was at usc coaching in the 4-3 they were top 15 in sacks.

It's the **** lame *** scheme they are asking him to teach. Chick said earlier in the season that he wasn't happy with what they wanted him to do in the defense.

This ... Jethro teaches what he is told to teach

jehtro was there like a year, they had coaching before and after him however u have a point i try to tell people. its goldens def not coach d's

This kid was a beast in HS off the edge. Let's be real here. Dopey fans assume because he's white (and because fckmouth Folden gave him Prader Willi Syndrome and turned him into a pattycake playing stump) there's no way he could have been an edge rusher.

When he first got here before the Prader Willi set in I think he had 4 sacks as a true freshmans. How many did he get the next 3 years? He did very well when we were running more traditional 4-3 fronts. Then, he did very well doing what they asked him to do his final 3 years--bloat up and play pattycake.

Folden is like a French duck farmer the way he tries to bloat these guys up and turn their livers into a chunk of fatty foie gras.

Keep an eye on Denzel now that he's out of Folden's sick grasp. Watch him drop 20 pounds and increase his twitch and flexibility for the combine.

Exactly. Denzel is really good, but he's definitely carrying more weight than ideal for a guy his size. But the coaches said a linebacker should be 240+, regardless of the fact that he's only six feet tall. He drops 15 or 20, it'll ALL be fat. And he'll be cut like a bodybuilder, and play much faster.

Chickillo looks like a guy who's always in the middle of a bulking cycle at the gym. He's putting on lean mass, but that's probably only accounting for about half his gains. He COULD grow into his current size with legitimate lean mass (it would take a while), but right now, he's clearly bloated all to **** -- lot of water weight, lot of fat.

I shudder to think what's going to happen to Jermaine Grace.

My response will be about the kids and not the current regime. Denzel is pretty **** close to being NFL ready as anybody who has come out of Miami in a long time. I don't disagree he'll improve his lean mass getting ready for the combine, but he'll play in the league over 240 pounds. You can bank on that. Sean Spence at 5'11" in playing around 230 to 235 and he never had the body mass Denzel had coming into Miami. Denzel goes no later than mid-second round and the only reason he probably doesn't end up in the first round is he's sitting at 5'11" or so.

As for Chickillo, yes he bulked up, but in my opinion he was going to be a 3-technique tackle in a 4-3 similar to Matt Walters. He'll play 5-technique end in the pro's so they probaby did him a favor in the end. Yes, he needs to improve his lean mass, but he'll play in the league at least at 270 pounds. He'll go no later than the 5th round.

our scheme sucks but physically our players look better especially compared to shannon. duke, flowers, armbrister, doresett, tracy, pierre, antonio crawford, etc all look faster and stronger than when they arrived.

Looked pretty good to me as a 4-3 DE before he was asked to gain 50 pounds.

I never saw one pass rush move from him wich makes me wonder what the **** they've been teaching him.
