Chick speaks out on Mark D’Onofrio/Golden Era

Worst N.D. team in memory? They were 8-1 going into our game, only losing to #15 UGa 20-19, and they beat both #11 USC, & #14 NCST. N.D. was ranked #11 at the end of the season??
Richt has forgotten more about football than Golden will ever know, and we Kicked N.D. ***

Well, seeing as some of us suspect Richt was suffering from early onset Alzheimer's, you may be more right than you realize in your last sentence there.

I totally forgot we played them in 2016, and I was referring to the 2017 game. But you're right Richt lost in 2016 to a bad N.D. team and it was his first season at The U. We went on that bad 4 game losing streak, but here's the difference. Golden was Stubborn and wouldn't change that D for anything, Richt on the other realized his game plan wasn't working and changed the Offense. You saw Kaaya getting rid of the ball quicker and spreading it out and we wound up winning the last 5 games and ranked #20 in the final polls

CHICK A LET did EXACTLY what HE and DADDY wanted to do... PLAY DE... He Sucked at it. Honestly, he took snaps away from more productive players. He got LUCKY with his speed. HE would NOT have lost weight and played LB at Miami regardless of what our CHITHEAD coaches wanted him to do... Again, he got lucky as chit while trying to become a SPECIAL TEAMS player in the NFL, he realized he had great speed at that new weight. Everything coming out of his mouth blaming Goldenboy and Frito lay is Total BS and a F ing excuse to coverup for his crappy *** college career. He is truly blessed and should shut his Fing mouth when it comes to blaming others. I've been a Cane fan all my life and I call them like I see them. As for my blessings, I'm doing just fine!
Lmfao cmon dude. Get your facts straight before porsting.

2016 Richt Lost to a ND team that lost 7 or 8 games.

Chick played at 235, 250, 270 and 285... He wanted to be an every down DE. At 235 and 250 he was getting manhandled by college OT's so he gained weight. At 270 and 285 he was a slow ****. He was NOT going to be a 250# LB or specialty passer rusher (3rd down, etc.) at Miami. You idiots have a terrible memory... The truth is he is a tweaner and got lucky because of his speed that the NFL uses dudes like him as 3rd down guys and on special teams. Good for him.

Golden used 4-3 schemes at times, like Richt used crossing patterns at times. Richts final season and a half tho, he was literally using 4-5 plays every game. The same 4-5 plays. Defenses knew what was coming just by checking down and distance. In the end, richt refused to do the same things that golden did.

Both coaches made Losing to less talented teams a habit. One failed on offense and one on defense. Neither were good here.

Again tho... what richt did off the field blows golden outta the water. Also, richt by far was the better man. It is what it is.

So what you're saying is that he didnt win the division.

Sure. I think it's a distinction without a difference- Richt managed to make it to the ACC championship and got blown out, Golden could have also played in the ACC championship game and got blown out. You could also say Richt was superior because he coached 3 bowl games to Golden's 1. Sounds like a big advantage for Richt, but if you were making the case to an impartial 3rd party, the fact that the BOT did NOT allow Golden to play in two bowl games might be relevant to the discussion.

Yeah he wanted to become a 285lb lumbering 3-4 Defensive End.
That must be why he dropped all that weight as soon as he left UM?
Come on man. Because he had no choice. His only shot at making the NFL was as a special teams kinda of guy, not as a 285 **** or a lightweight 250# DE... Lets be honest, so you are saying he wanted to be a OLB at Miami all along, Really...

You doing all this to try and compare Golden going 5-3 to Richt going 7-1. Also, Golden coached in 2 bowl games and lost both of em.

I see it the same. Richt was the far preferable coach on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wed. There wasn't much difference though on Saturdays and the occasional Thursday game. Oh and I think the Pitt debacle was on a Friday. No forgiveness or excuse for that one.

Golden was by far the worst HC ever at Miami. Had no idea what he was doing. As for, No D, has there ever been a worse defensive coach anywhere? He was hated at Houston, too. They had the means to fire him. We couldn't because he was Goldie's best buddy.
Took two head coaches down. Why hire this guy - his track record is pitiful. My son graduated from UH, of course also a lifelong Cane fan because of his parents. When we heard No D was coming to UH, we thought it was a sick joke.

Golden went 9-4, Richt went 10-3. That's worth 2+ million dollars extra a season? If you think so, I yield to your opinion (and will also forever avoid taking business advice from you)

Actually, the year Golden went 9-4, he was tied for 2nd in the division.
It was 2012, when he went 5-3 on a 7-6 record that you're clamoring as comparable to Richt's 10 win season.

You're literally the only person pushing this narrative. The Chickillos, along with multiple former UM teammates and others close to the program have stated that he was forced to gain weight to play DE in D'Onofrio's 3-4. He could have easily stayed at 240 and played the "rush LB" position and been far more effective but they were short on big bodies at the time and needed someone to play end in the 3-4. He was just rewarded with a contract extension by Pittsburgh so they obviously value him as an OLB since you don't pay a guy 8 million over two years to play special teams.

These stories continue to come out about the fanbase....sad state of affairs.

Yeah, still amazes me. This kid did whatever he was asked for the squad, even when many of us knew it was detrimental for his personal future. For all of his dedication to whatever the team needed, mainly based on inadequate recruiting, he is told he sucks by certain fans.

So they should have abandoned their defense, gone to a 4-3 because Chick really wanted to play at 240 # and be an OLB in college and not a DE.... that's your story...

Worst ND squad in memory was 10-3, beat four teams ranked in the final top 25, and finished #11 in the final polls?

You know you can make an argument that Richt was a loser without making stuff up right?
Could not bee
If we’re gonna talk about record and legacy... Golden played elite FSU squads every year, while richt got the worst FSU teams in memory. Also, golden played an elite ND squad, while richt got the worst ND squad in memory.
You are really a sad excuse for a fan. What was the ND record the year before we beat the 10-3 team? Go ahead dummy look it up. Then come back and say - oops sorry I am a big dummy.

There’s so many differences in circumstances between the 2. One had sanctions to recruit under, one did not. One had to hire a staff w peanuts, one had a decent budget. One had bowl bans, one did not.... and One gave us a pretty good ride for a time, before imploding. The other did not. But at the end of the day, they both imploded.

One was just a good man, the other a scumbag.

Ed Oliver (luckily hes a complete dawg) dropped a tiny bit of value and hated Dnofrio....imagine they almost ruined his draft. Obviously he is built for the NFL and would rise regardless too much quickness.

You are conflating two things. Richts best season was 10-3. Golden's best was 9-4. You said that Richt winning the ACC coastal clinches it for you.

In 2012, UNC was banned from the postseason by the NCAA and ineligible to win the division. So that means the division winner had to come from the remaining teams. Simple question: According to conference rules, which team was next in line to play in the ACC championship game?
