Chatfield to osu

I'm gonna drop cuz a text or call him later on this evening to get some real insight on how much he likes Taint. As far as Drew goes, I've stated my opinion on here many times. When he wins the DL MVP at Paradise(He will, book it), I'm thinking Kool can't help but offer him then. Height and timed runs be damned, that kid has arguably the best pass-rushing skills in America. Kid can come in freshman year and get 10 sacks as a specialist in a "NASCAR" package and going in while JJ, DJ, or Garvin take breathers. He has long arms, which offset the couple of inches he lacks vertically and although he's 15-20 lbs. lighter than the template, he sets a **** of an edge in the run game. On the field, camp settings, kid just dominates whoever lines up across from him. He's not feasting on bums either. AH is a national powerhouse that plays top-flight teams from across the region, state and nation. And all the guy does is kick major ***. Porsters love to talk how the production won't transfer over to college. But riddle me this, if the majority of the guys he's smoking out there are FBS prospects themselves, what does that tell you??? ****, in practice alone he's been going against top P5 prospects(including one that we all hope to be a great one)since his freshman year(made varsity before cuz, Pat and the rest)and doing em dirty the whole time. I've seen Drew embarass TJ and Kai on numerous occasions. Right now at least 4 of AH's o-line is going FBS. They can't do anything with him... Sign the kid up gotdammitt!!!!

I endorse this post. I didn't need Urban Liar to offer Drew for me to know that the kid is a dog and has been whipping P5 guys in every practice and in almost every game he plays.

I might be wrong about this, but let this thing play out. The kid will, once again, prove it at the camps and on the field.

kids the broward county DPOY, he's camped at UM how many times? They visited him in the spring and saw his spring game....still no offer. What can change between now and then other than the pressure of this OSU commitment? What more is there to see?

I know most will just say "I trust coach Kool" but these are legit questions

Even Coach Kul isn't beyond getting caught-up in "coach think" when it comes to recruiting, that is looking past the production and getting bogged-down by measurements, etc. I don't think that is the case here, though. I don't think he holds an offer from any of the Big 3 in FL. That usually says something, especially at a school like AH. It could be that tOSU* sees something other don't, or it could be that they want to get one on the board from AH and if other don't come, they will move on. Who the **** knows. I just know it is too early to think anything is set in stone. Likewise, the circus that is South FL recruiting hasn't changed and just because things started early for us with a bang doesn't mean it will be smooth sailing. Back to Chatfield, I think we should have offered him regardless of any of this stuff. JMO, but I think the Defensive POY from Miami-Dade and Broward county should always have an offer from UM. That is the message we should be sending. If you ball out, we'll shell out. Period.

Chatfield is either another Elvis Dumervil or Toolbox Harris. Either way, he'll at least be a good college player. I get the feeling he'll force Kool to offer him at Paradise if he's the type of winner I think he is.

His measurables are bad, but so are his intentions.

Hopefully he shows out at Paradise and then more hopefully, we have a chance to flip him.

You're proving OriginalCanesCanesCanes' point in each thread you post in. This is either a Gayturd troll move or faqqitry unbecoming of a Cane.

LOL...In your mind, anybody who posts anything that isn't rainbows and sunshine must be a Gator or Nole troll. Do you not see any reason at all for concern regarding Campbell and Nesta? I know Pete says Nesta is solid and Campbell is a Cane lean, but Pete's been wrong before (he was wrong about Chatfield).

I see a lot of reason for concern but your posting history and pattern is looking suspicious. If you were us and you took a look back in at it, you wouldn't be suspect of what you saw? If I'm wrong then I'll apologize but time will tell.

There's nothing in my posting history to be suspect about. I started one thread the other night indicating that it seems like our momentum has dissipated. That's not trolling. It was a simple observation that I was looking for people's opinions on. And, when I say "momentum" I wasn't referring to receiving new commits. Simply that things seem to have slowed down noticeably and a few commits that seemed rock solid don't necessarily seem that way.

For the record, I don't think we lose any commits to UF, and I can't think of any that are giving FSU a thought right now. Alabama is my concern for guys like Jobe, Pope, and Hall. tOSU is my concern for Silvera and Campbell. The rest of the guys seem pretty darn rock solid.

UiF is not a more attractive option. They're a joke like we were under Golden. The threats you named for the players you named are definitely ones I agree with concerning who to watch out for. I don't think that Nesta and Tyson make a decision purely on Chatfield but it was a good move by O$U if they are trying to get these AH guys.

Agree 100%. Not concerned about UF at all. Nor am I concerned about FSU (side note: surprising how few recruiting battles we've had with them the last two cycles). Chatfield committing to tOSU actually doesn't really concern me. My concern is more around Urband (who tends to get who he wants) and our history with AH.

May as well prepare ourselves for Campbell to pick tOSU and for Nesta to flip.

.....so a kid who's family is on this very board and says we have a tremendous lead is going to commit to OSU?

Makes sense

Isn't that guy only like a 2nd cousin? Based on his posts, it doesn't seem like they are in contact all that much. Correct me if I'm wrong, or if there is other family on the board. Just not sure how much I'm relying on his comments.

Spot on ceiling/floor comparison Chise. Though at worst I would expect him to be Toolbox 2.0...

This reeks of vintage Urban. Wants Campbell really bad but knows it's and uphill battle so he works this angle. Let's see if Chatfield actually signs with them. A rack that if Campbell commits elsewhere, Urban and co go in a different direction with Chatfield.

This is what I'm hoping desperately for. Campbell commits to Miami, and Nesta sticks (Surtain heads to LSU), and tOSU is left trying to figure out what to do with Chatfield. I'd like to think that if they dropped Chatfield, Urban would finally get exposed, but nothing sticks to that scumbag.

I know most will just say "I trust coach Kool" but these are legit questions

The answer may be very simple. We have limited spots and Kool may just like others better.

Seems every year there is a tweener in SFL with 22-25 sacks, but i can't remember any of their names...probably because they never went on to make a name for themselves.

These aren't terrible #'s but it's pretty clear Kool likes his DE's uber athletic and long. Not questioning Kool, ever.
Andrew Chatfield 6-2, 221, 4.92 40, 4.57 shuttle, 31.4 vertical

Mike Smith had 18 sacks as a junior, transitioned to LB in college, doesn't have the measurable to hold down a starting job. Similar athletes.

The DEs he recruited and developed at Missouri are the opposite of that archetype and were obviously very productive. There's more than 1 way to skin a cat - I hate this analogy but it's all I can think of - as a college pass rusher.

I do think Kool will ultimately recruit the best athletes who can actually play and trust that he can teach them pass rush fundamentals, because that strategy makes sense.

Based on my posts, I'm not up his *** like a fanboy and I have my own adult life to live. I'll never be the creepy big cousin because my life doesn't revolve around where he's going for college. Just because I don't call him everyday doesn't mean we're not close. Yes he's my 2nd cousin but you don't know how close our family is. Lemme give you some examples though. How about my granny raising his granddad after our great grandma died. My grandparents leave the NoFla backwoods for Miami, his follow soon after. They raised their families 5 blocks from each other. My mom & Ty's mom super close all their lives. Me and his older sister born on the same day, grew up more like brother and sister(only brothers on my mom's side and she was her mom's only child before Ty) than cousins. Ty's mom is my middle brother's godmother for ****'s sake!!!! I'm Ty's nephew's (he's a beast c/o 2022) godfather. ****, we're the closest thing he has to big brothers. There's a difference between checking up on him and hounding him. I'll tell you what, I can get past that guard gate no problem if I wanna see the Campbells...

I'm thinking Kool is gunna slow play him. Might wanna see what's up with Parsons, Oladele, and Briggs. Not sure if we're still in it for that Texas DE

He was settling for 2nd and 3rd tier guys for the most part at Missouri. He won't have to do that here. He'll have his pick of the litter, and it appears he prefers long DEs.

Chatfield might be the guy who forces him out of that mindset at Paradise. I doubt that Kool is completely inflexible because you don't usually achieve such great success being too rigid.

He just committed to osu.
I really think the canes should have offered him, he is the best pass rushing de in south Florida.

Best past rushing guy in high school doesn't always translate to great success. This is the case going back to Marcus Robinson and to some much lesser extent, Chad Thomas now.......who while good, hasn't exactly lived up to all the hype.

Marcus Robinson was pretty ecent with the canes, he never had trouble rushing the passer and could get after the qb. Chad thomas had 1 year with great coaches in which he was very productive. People who don't know football say he had a bad year because he only had 4.5 sacks. It's much deeper than that including his play against the run, 11.5 tackles for loss and causing the tackles for loss opportunities for other players

Chad Thomas has been a solid contributor thus far but he hasn't lived up to the hype of being a 5 star.

Period.
