CHASESMITH 6th Year? Rumors of return?

I understand why everyone wants Wiley to take his next step. I do too. But if you're telling me you're afraid Hetherman will sit Wiley behind Smith so don't want Smith back, I think that's twisted logic. Dudes need to earn their spots not be gifted them.

I would be ecstatic if Smith were given a waiver. He proved he can handle his assignments and maybe he gets faster another year removed from injury. I also want Wiley to have to beat him out for snaps, and hope he does.

I think this argument is a waste. We'll need 5 serviceable LBs to make it through a full season, maybe 6 If the injury bug really bites us at the position. There will be more than enough snaps to go around even if Smith comes back for 1 more year....

If we want to go all the way, we are playing 16 games. You need players. LB is a rotational position. I like Wiley's talent but he needs to step up and take his spot, not get it by default of no one else being around. I hope we get Chase back. He gets the free covid year and I think he redshirted atleast 1 year. He was a part of the 2021 class so 1 regular Redshirt and he is good to go. He had like 2 injury destroyed seasons. Also i think he finally got his body back and his experience has caught up. This guy is not some coal shoveler, he was a top 247 player. Very athletic and long..... pause🐾🐾🐾.

Plenty of snaps to go around even if Smith returns. We do a nice job rotating goes in & out.
