I use to think Strong would do well here but now I would not take the chance.
We are not in a place where we can take bigger risks than the nessasary with the next coach.
Would not consider anyone about to get fired. We need someone on an upward trajectory.
Butch is the exception do to his unique history with the program.

Said it before and I'll say it now. This is Rich Rodriguez all over again. A very good coach that's a bad fit at a prestigious program.

The dude didn't forget how to coach defense. Which of these do you think is the anomaly?

South Carolina ('00)- 6th in scoring defense
Florida ('08)- 3rd in scoring defense
Louisville ('09)- 2nd in scoring defense
Texas ('15)- 81st in scoring defense

The key for him would be hiring a good OC. He bungled that situation in Texas. Pair him with a rising talent like Ken Dorsey and the results could be interesting.

Strong's talent evaluation at Louisville was almost Butch-like. He had TEN guys drafted last year. And if Bridgewater "made" Strong (which I think is bull****), Kaaya can do the same thing. I wouldn't put him before Butch or Herman, but he'd be the next guy for me (I don't see Fuente as a culture fit).

"(I don't see Fuente as a culture fit)."

Why? Could you expand on that.
Thanks.

I heard he would be more interested in South Carolina, and from what I read he's a straight-laced Oklahoma guy who talks about pillars. Just doesn't seem like a fit.

I hope I'm wrong because he's a stud coach.

So he can't win unless he has the best athletes?

He has had elite defenses everywhere he has been except at Texas. We are talking about the UM job which he will have access to those players because of our recruiting base and that he is well respected in south florida

2 of the top 4 teams in the country are located in Texas and recruiting players. Everything you are describing could apply to Randy Shannon as well. He didn't recruit well his last 2 years as Louisville which is why they are struggling with a proven coach in Petrino. I want a coach that doesn't need to have to best players to win because he can coach. Sure I still want him to recruit the best but good coaches can win as well.

He's Hispanic, so he probably wouldn't fit in well in Miami.

There's not much of a market.

Who is available that will win regardless of talent(in context), Herman? Butch?

Honest question, who are the power players

He's got access to great players at Texas. Problem is Texas isn't the Big East, so he doesn't enjoy the talent disparity Hurtt bought him at Louisville.

We have a little over a month to go in college football and a little longer in the NFL, so we don't really know who is open.

We can get guys like Baez, Beard, Brown and Ice to recruit South Florida. I want someone that can call call plays. We are not losing because of recruitment, we are losing because our coaches can't coach and Al Golden couldn't call a game. Everyone wants to talk about how good Butch was at recruiting but they always leave out how good at player development he was.

I heard he would be more interested in South Carolina, and from what I read he's a straight-laced Oklahoma guy who talks about pillars. Just doesn't seem like a fit.

I hope I'm wrong because he's a stud coach.

lol....sure he is. His teams consistently under performed against teams with inferior talent week in and week out in the BIG EAST. He was squeeking games out almost weekly with that "loaded roster" you speak of. Please quit filling us with complete fairy tale. I watched his teams too and with the exception of him pushing our **** in during the bowl game....color me extremely unimpressed.

I apologize for quoting the wrong post Dmoney....I just know you like to jerk of Strong every chance you get....and he's a very AVERAGE coach.

I used to think strong was good but he should of fired that offensive coordinator in the offseason they sucked last year

Laying a egg against Iowa state is unforgivable

Not sure why all of the Strong hate. Didnt you see how he had those south florida boys boys playing in UL, that was Miami Football. And his OC was great with Teddy(not sure if still with him). I want Patterson or Butch or Herman but will take Strong Too.
