Change in recruiting strategy?

Better get someone up in Jacksonville area, as Hartley already there yesterday visiting Fred Davis and Mammerili. Afraid that dude going to come back and haunt us.
Bagged up Hartley vs Rumph should be interesting

Change in recruiting strategy? Tell me when Miami starts dropping bags. Unless dat happens nothin gonna change.

No way man ... our best teams weren’t built on kids strictly from our backyard. Why Do we keep trying this failed approach from the past 3 regimes in locking down south Florida
Butch recruited a lot of kids from out of state. The 2001 team was 30% OOS. Many of the stars on that team weren't from FLA.

A lot of kids want to get out of their current environment and try something new, just like a lot of our S. FL. Guys. I hope Manny continues with the big net National approach. Everything TX on east should be in play and the occasional Cali kid.

No. We need to recruit our area first then expand. That’s the formula
The problem was that the old staff only expanded if a kid reached out or if we were scrambling after missing on a kid. We always recruit our area but at the same time we should expand our search and the staff needs to recruit their plan B's just as hard as their plan A's

Back in the Day will Schnellenberger and JJ, there was no internet, 247, Canes Insight, etc. When Howard went into Miami/Dade it was still Virgin territory. The secret has been out for a while now. If we want to lock down the 305 then we need to produce on the field to get the signatures we want, Bogels, Surtains, Jobes, etc. So in the mean time, we need to open up our recruitment to OOS recruits to supplement our needs. Win and we will see the results we want.

Those are kids from OOS that the last staff was on that they deemed key parts of their respective clssses. Along with guys like devonte smith and others who we missed on. You can’t possibly recruit your plan A and Bs equally. There not enough time/resources to do so.

The Formula to getting burned on signing day
So don’t recruit south Florida heavy? That makes no sense. Y’all really prentending as if we don’t recruited outside of Florida and having pulled studs at all. Weve recruited outside of Florida enough and have missed on national prospects outta state. If we can’t pull national guys from Florida what makes u think we can rely on outta state national guys to fill a class

Let's just sign the top 25 from SoFla then cherry pick the portal....until the NCAA puts a Miami Rule on this thing.

I'll give you 6 of the 8 u listed. Hightower played at IMG and Jarren was a late offer. **** they got Jeff Thomas after a late push. The problem with the last staff is that most of the coaches didn't have plan B guys at all and if they did have them they didn't communicate with them enough. Look at the Oline scramble b4 Searles was fired. Jon only went after 1 QB all year. Brown - none of his plan A rbs wanted in. Where were the plan B's during the season?

You're right you can't recruit your plan A's and B's the same but the new staff has to do a better job recruiting their plan B guys and OOS kids period. U can't be blind to the fact that we've been burned too many times thinking that we had guys wrapped up and when they went elsewhere the staff scrambled for guys or they'd go to their plan B kid and he'd basically give the staff the finger because they didn't keep communication lines open.

This whole argument is silly. It's all subjective based on mutual interest. If a local kid wants to go OOS or just isn't feeling it you gauge that and move forward accordingly. If what you want isn't in the backyard, expand out. That's recruiting. Its that simple and its what we've always done. Some just better than others.

Whenever you have a leader watch what they do not what they say. My guess is go after the talent restock wherever it is– rebuild Miami ASAP to re-create the local interest from our top athletes. Top talent locally won’t be showing Miami their back for long. By the way, it’s -6° on Monday in Columbus
