Chad Thomas didn't travel with team

Why can't we figure out how to put our 5 star DE in a position to contribute?

Myles Garrett has 5.5 sacks for Texas A&M and Lorenzo Carter had a fumble recovery against USCe.

Thomas has had virtually no impact for us.

Dont know why everybody freaking out. Chad as done nothing up to this point. Court Jenkins has been the impact freshman. AQM was a huge lost but Chad is not going to decide the game. i would have preferred he went but i'm not tripping

Watch him closely when he plays. He's an instant difference maker, imo.

Not disagreeing but I haven't seen it in 2 games. Which I admit means nothing for true frosh in first few games

I'm not worried about him being a playmaker tommorow night I'm worried this will be the beginning of the end of his career at the U I just hope it's personal nothing that is gonna derail his football career

Unless you actually see Chick covering a WR stop making **** up. He plays Chick's position. "Covering WRs" in zone is what McCord and Harris do about 3-4 times a game.

Also, I know Thomas excelled on the inside at the high school level, but he should not rush from the inside for us.

College is totally different than high school and it was foolish to expect him to come in and dominate the same way he did in high school.

While Chad Thomas is a five-star recruit, he's also a third-stringer who hasn't played a ton. Will find out more later.

Maybe he just hasn't taken the positions in front of him during practice and this isn't a conspiracy.

Playing Chick's position is probably worse than Thomas playing LB and having to cover WRs. He's a 4-3 DE all the way who should be playing on the end of the LOS where he's able to exploit OTs by using his athletic ability. Not playing the same position of a 280 lb DE where he has to 2-gap and take away any athletic advantage he'd have over OTs. He should be doing what Aldon Smith is doing, not Justin Smith.

This isn't true. He backs up Chickillo. He played a bunch last week.

I agree 4-3 DE is his ideal spot but I think Chad is naturally bigger then Smith. That said he would be a fine 3-4 DE in an attacking style 3-4. Our scheme at the college level is flat out stupid.

Our scheme and passive philosophy make it **** near impossible for a kid like CT to shine.

We don't press, play aggressively, play downhill or disrupt anything. We sit back read and react.

Real defenses are disruptive, dictate, and make offenses alter routes. We NEVER do those things.

It is awful.
