CFP Selection Committee to incorporate "new data point"

Not enough overlapping conference games to be able to gauge these types of things. Let's just condense it and continue to shelter the 2 main conferences so they can talk hypotheticals and "beat each other up"

In what we have seen, the best SEC team and the best B1G team were evenly matched and had an instant classic in OSU/Texas. The 2nd best ACC team and the 2nd/3rd best SEC team went blow for blow and tied under 2 min left in the 4th on a neutral field. Decided by a FG. The ACC is 4-1 against the B1G so far.

Zero reason for this "data point" until they can logically explain why A&M and Oregon are still ranked and why do Miss State and Missouri get into the poll and not VT/Pitt/Duke/Ok State/WVU who have the same record as those teams and/or beat the teams in front of them.

are they much tougher or are they just inflated to keep each other ranked? thats the point. wake would beat half the SEC right now.
 
There are two questions you need to ask yourself.

First, HOW WOULD THIS RULE HAVE CHANGED THE SEC AND BIG 10 TEAMS SELECTED LAST YEAR? Or even the year before?

Second, WHERE WOULD THIS RULE HAVE RANKED INDIANA AMONG BIG 10 TEAMS LAST YEAR?

Just...curious...

No, it is because ESPN is the sole media rights holder for the CFP and the SEC. Therefore, they have financial motivations to get as many SEC teams into the playoff for financial gain. It has less to do with the B1G. Lower tier SEC teams are always over inflated in the top 25 to make the SEC look better than what it really is.

Because you have little evidentiary basis for your assertion that those conferences are necessarily ‘better’ or deserve some elevated perception other than pointing at inflated, corrupted rankings.

I know Indiana faced Oregon, Iowa, Penn State, Illinois, Purdue last year in the regular season. They beat OSU in their championship.

Again, I do not take away from the Big 10 championship game. But prior to that game, when all the OTHER votes were taken in the CFP, Indiana probably had one of the weakest intra-conference SOS ratings of the Big 10 teams in the Top 25.

Here are the Big 10 teams that Indiana beat in the 2025 regular season:

Oregon - ranked #5 in the final regular season CFP poll (11-1)
Iowa - ranked #23 in the final regular season CFP poll (8-4)
Pedo State (6-6)
Illinois (8-4)
Purdue (2-10)
Michigan State (4-8)
UCLA (3-9)
Maryland (4-8)
Wisconsin (4-8)

Indiana literally beat 6 of the 7 worst teams in the Big 10 in 2025.

That, right there, is one of the worst INTERNAL Big 10 SOS's of the Big 10 teams that were legitimately considered for the CFP field.

And yet...Indiana won the national championship.

So my point is, if you USED this "data point" prior to Indiana winning the Big 10 championship over Ohio Taint, it would have been very unfavorable to Indiana. Who is to say that Michigan or USC couldn't have been ranked higher (at some point), particularly since Indiana played neither team?

Throwing out made up “facts” about Wake doesn’t really mean much. Miami fans like you have a weird complex when it comes to the strength of a conference. The ACC has consistently been several notches below the SEC- no reasonable person would argue that.

Don’t blame me for it- blame that troll of a president at Miami for being in the ACC.

But to think teams in the SEC or BIG shouldn’t be given the benefit of the doubt over ACC or BIg 12 teams is a notch below being retarded.
