Capping Coaches' Salaries–Donna Shalala

If state governments and private organizations got $0 from the federal gvmnt I might agree w/ you
WGAF if they do?!? Unless I missed the commie fine-print, federal grant dollars don't come with the stipulation that every ****** coach gets their 'fair share'. Besides, check out NCAA vs Smith, the SCOTUS already said dont be ridiculous.

Understand your point completely. But what I'm saying is that she didn't want to kill the program - and that's proven by her actions in 2006 and 2011 (especially the latter). Shalala would have been celebrated nationwide for shutting down the football program or just expelling all of the players in the FIU fight. She didn't, and she fought fairly hard against the NCAA. So I give her credit there.

She just didn't value the football program enough to sustain its success, and there...the results speak for themselves.

I get what you’re saying, I just think you’re looking at it from the wrong angle. She would not win a congressional seat in south Florida if she outright did what she wanted and shuttered the football program. She was never going to run for a national office.

Let’s also not forget that she was steering the ship when it hit the iceberg that you are crediting her for saving us from. We don’t celebrate the arsonist for putting out his own handiwork, nor should we thank her for, EVENTUALLY, standing up for the school she was running after even ESPiN, SI, and NY Times came to the conclusion we were being treated unfairly.

That's fair. Kind of forgot about her standing with Shapiro. Or having alumni "sponsor" players.

I agree 100% with Donna that coaching salaries are way too high.

With that being said, this bill says a lot about the president at Miami for 15 years. Yes, it's one thing to acknowledge that coaching salaries are way too high. But with that being said, you have to deal with that fact if you want to have a football program. You have to pay high salaries yourself in order to compete. You can't just moan and groan about the $1.5 million+ salaries other programs give coordinators nowadays.

"Shalala said that the SEC pursued Miami in expansion talks in the early 2000s while she was president of the university."

Been telling you guys we should join the SEC. You fools kept saying the SEC wouldn't let us in. Well, now you know.

Miami should leave the ACC for the SEC.

And God ****.... Shalala was the worst.

Reading this ****ed me off

Hence Randy Shannon being given coupons for his assistant coach budget.

Price controls don't work, and do you really want the politicians in Washington controlling more of your life, let alone our favorite spectator sport?!!

And is CFB suddenly a high priority issue for Congress?

They can't get anything else done, why not!!??
