Canes open as one point favorites

LMAO at people learning their lesson. This board will never have a Duke moment again...."they will put up over 500 yards"...."Cutcliffe will outcoach everyone on our staff"......

This week is too uncomfortable for those people, so now we're predicted to beat everyone.

not so fast slurper....who do we have corching for us STILL, oh that's right Al Folden and his butt buddy Mark d'OHNOfrio. Till that changes we are always vulnerable to lose, even Vegas knows it.

Rather than post this type of stuff, why not engage those people in discussion about the game. For example, I expected us to beat Duke and put that position out there before the game. It's on this board for your view and to create dialogue. If we turn everything into a "LMAO, mopes vs slurpers" thing, this board will continue to suffer.

In the meantime, you're sitting by while Hulkacaniac pulls up threads from a year ago to tell someone to "guzzle ***".

Well done, "Administrator", well done.

******* psussy *** porst!!!!

go shave yer fookin vag ya feghett.

Paul Johnson will outcorch us. GT by three.

The same Paul Johnson who was owned by Randy Shannon?

Al Golden isn't nearly the coach as Randy Shannon.

I have veered mightily towards your end of the spectrum on Golden (you were right and my blind insistence on logic and objectivity leading up to the season failed me). But you are WAY out of line here sir. Randy Shannon put himself over the good of this program in the worst way -- he knew he was out; got lazy; and put Miami back a number of years by handing over two months before signing day an almost non-existent recruiting class.

At least Folden tries really hard. He's just over his head and trying to pretend like he belongs. But he will at least will leave the next coach a much better roster and recruiting class than Shannon did. And that roster will include the best talent at QB that we've had in over a decade. That is the only reason I will always rank Randy last among UM corches. I hate stubbornness. And I loathe incompetence, especially at this level. But nothing ****es me off more than laziness.

/If I could have Randy now instead of Folden, I would take it in a heartbeat with this roster. And I would give my first born illegitimate kid to have him coaching our defense.

Everything says a solid win for the canes, except the line. Last week the sharps knew something. Gotta admit this worries me.

Every line we have will be affected by the fact that we have a true freshman QB, especially road games.

Like i said the game is on the offense, that totally dictates why GT does. If they fall down by double digits every possession they have after that becomes like a life and death 4th qtr possession even in the first half. If they can grind you, that's their thing. Then they set up all those trickery. I think this is 6 in a row though. Fairly confident for some reason. No D could go ape shhh and f it up but it be really hard, GT offense is really very simple. Stick to your assignment no matter what u see and don't get chopped. Randy smashed it by having the scout team practicing with 3 balls and you tackle everybody.

All you said was true, and the only thing I would suggest is that Randy's defenses were much, much better - whether he was coordinator or even when he was HC.

Golden needs to be AD somewhere. He's got the polish, he speaks well, and he's got more ready excuses than the law allows.

I don't understand how they were able to beat VT. VT had much better talent (particulary on both lines) and still couldn't get it done at HOME.....that does have me a bit concerned.

There is great value in high number of rushing attempts. Georgia Tech understands that and consequently they win many games against teams they otherwise have no business defeating. Virginia Tech never would have lost that game if they had kept the ball on the ground in the 4th quarter. Brewer gave it away via interceptions and Georgia Tech was happy to oblige.

Canes fans are too busy with simpleton comments about a high school offense that they don't bother to notice that many other ACC teams have not been nearly as successful against Georgia Tech as we have.

I bet Miami at pick-em in this game. Unfortunately I missed the plus points at Wynn. Johnny Avello for decades has not believed in road favorites, dating to his days running Bally's sportsbook. If you want a bargain on a road team near pick-em or as small favorite, Avello will give it to you almost every time if he puts up the first number. I can't count how many times I've taken advantage of that in football and basketball. This time Avello opened Georgia Tech -3. Unbelievable. I don't know how he expected even action at that price. If I were still in Las Vegas full time I would have been there to pounce on it. But I had to rely on friends who didn't show up until later at night. We ended up with Canes at pick.

Unlike our first two road games, Miami's offense matches up very well against Georgia Tech's soft defense. As long as Coley runs basic plays we should be fine. I was still more than annoyed at the play calling last week. For the second consecutive year all we had to do against Duke was line up in power formations and abuse the running game while allowing pass plays to flow out of that. Instead, we somehow brainstormed 16 passes and 8 runs in the first quarter. It should have been the opposite. Coley doesn't seem to grasp the value of rushing attempts against an outmanned opponent. That's the beauty of old school power programs like Nebraska. If the vulnerability in the trenches is there they'll unapologetically attack it. Too many pass oriented teams don't sense that their cutesy plays are not only unnecessary but harmful. Don't scheme when you can can shove. Even Duke was comical in that regard. They were throwing one ridiculous deep sideline prayer after another instead of running straight at us.

Georgia Tech's quarterback is more clever on the perimeter than their recent guys. But his offensive line is not dependable up the middle. We should get plenty of penetration, forcing them into passing situations. Thomas is not accurate at all in those spots. He'll probably burn us occasionally with early down passes.

Overall I'd be surprised to lose this game, even if the prior poster is correct to summarize that our last two meetings were very problematic. I think we lose last year if that game gets to 24-7, which seemed inevitable other than self destruction on their part.

This Canes defense got a taste for attacking football last week and should have some fun possessions on Saturday. The opponent is nowhere near as capable as Nebraska, despite all the nonsense posts here two weeks ago downplaying Nebraska as mediocre. There should be at least a 2 touchdown different in the spread of Canes at Georgia Tech as opposed to Canes at Nebraska.

I agree the matchup seems to favor us. GT gave up big rushing yards to Tulane and Ga Southern at home. Neither of those teams have our receiving core, QB or running back. Runs should be there.

This game will come down to turnovers. A push in that department and we win. But GT has been good in that department. Us, not so much.
