Candidates for UM Head Coach

An NFL assistant we ought to consider - Dan Quinn, defensive coordinator for the Seahawks

This article had me convinced, but he's likely to get an NFL head coaching gig

http://mmqb.si.com/2014/08/06/dan-quinn-seattle-seahawks/

-Exceptional DL coach
-DC for UF under Muschamp
-open minded when it comes to scheme and utilizing personnel

Bennett signed on for one year, and Quinn delivered. He moved the 6-4, 274-pounder, undrafted in 2009, from end to tackle in nickel packages, and a year later the Seahawks rewarded his 8.5-sack season with a $28.5 million commitment.

“He’s not married to a scheme; he wants you to grow,” Bennett says of Quinn. “He changes with the players."

Bo Pelini
Gary Pinkel
Scott Frost - OC at Oregon
Clay Helton - OC at USC

My preference, come up with $4.5 per year and hire Pinkel at Missouri, great defense every year and good to great offense. But a guy that can coach defense always gives his team a chance.

Charlie Strong
Gary Patterson
Rich Rod

Thats all i will seriously consider[/QUOTE]

Pelini is available. Just got fired for having a better W/L record than Tom Osborne during his first years at Nebraska.

OP I hate your list. I'm making phone calls in the following order, and offering every guy the job until someone says yes.

1. Gary Patterson
2. Butch Davis
3. Mark Dantonio
4. Todd Graham
5. Rich Rodriguez
6. Jim McElwain
7. Mark Hudspeth

If they've all said no, start interviewing coordinators like

Tom Herman
Rhett Lashlee
Jeremy Pruitt
Kirby Smart

switch up Butch with Paterson and can agree with you on that one. I also like Schiano

I dont know if you guys know this, but we dont have money. We are barely paying golden around 2.5 mil. We need to get an OC or DC who is at a good program (Preferably SEC) and have them come and put together a staff who can recruit but mostly get the most of of the athletes we already have.

I think there were 2 good names on that list

the DC at MISS State and the OC at Auburn. They would leave for opportunities at Miami.

Mark Stoops is a HC in the SEC, former DC at FSU and former DB assistant at UM. Makes under $2MM/year at Kentucky... Plus he knows that he will never win the SEC West...not going to a bowl so is available ASAP!!!

Fire Golden!!

A lot of delusion in this thread. Pull up your comforters, boys, AL is camped out in this **** for the long haul. If by some miracle of God they manage to lose him, enough with the pie-in-the-sky ideas. You would be lucky to even end up with Fuente. And LOfreakingL at the "insider" Ariz saying Coley needs to stay on staff at all costs. Dude is a freaking buster in wayyyy over his head. Why keep him for recruits if he can't coach for diddlypoo? Mired in mediocrity here.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. The best we can hope for is that Dorito gets fired. Golden is getting a pass that he doesn't deserve. Yeah, he had the NCAA problem, but that didn't stop Miami from recruiting some top talent, certainly better talent than most of the ACC Coastal. Going 6-6 and losing to the likes of UVA and Pitt with that talent is inexcusable. I'm also disappointed that he didn't defend Quan more strongly. Fisher never would have allowed one of his key players to be suspended after slugging a roommate. ****, at FSU you probably can sexually assault a woman and still play.

but we have the money for a new building for Donna a new building for academics. We have the money but might have to take some for the cause from other places

Of the guys currently coaching, Todd Graham is my #1. Seems a little crazy. He'd be awesome here.

I might be biased, but Graham seems very happy at ASU. He's not much of a big-city guy, plus he just donated $500K toward the renovation of Sun Devil Stadium and spent $1M+ on a house in Scottsdale. You're right, though...he's super-disciplined and supportive of his players, and his offensive and defensive schemes with Tri-County talent would be **** near unstoppable.

Realistic candidates IMO:
Rich Rodriguez (a lot like Graham but more of a ****, plus Arizona will never be a football school)
Mark Hudspeth (a consistent winner and disciplinarian)
Butch Davis (one concern: is he past his prime?)
Greg Schiano (has college HC experience unlike Chud, capable of fixing our defense)
Doc Holliday (experienced south Florida recruiter, two consecutive 10-win seasons at Marshall)

A team we beat 8 YEARS straight until AG becomes head coach than we lose? We lose to fsu 8 years straight if we keep this buster around

#Nebraska AD on Bo Pelini: We just weren't good enough in the games that mattered & I didn't see that changing. New leadership was in order.

....contrast that with Blake's wording regarding Golden. The administration is willfully blind to his incompetence.

SHUT THE **** UP ABOUT MONEY. MIAMI HAS PLENTY OF MONEY JUST NO DESIRE. STOP SPREADING MYTHS AND KILL YOURSELF. Sick of this **** being allowed on here.

Chud was fired by the Browns after one season...I'd hire him in a heartbeat...
Chudzinski served as the tight ends coach and interim offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns in 2004. In 2005, Chudzinski was hired as the tight ends coach of the San Diego Chargers. With the Chargers, he coached All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates. In 2007, Chudzinski was named the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns.[1] That year the Cleveland Browns ranked eighth overall on offense, sent 4 offensive players to the Pro Bowl, and finished 2nd in the AFC North with a record of 10-6, their most wins since 1994. However, after the 2008 season Chudzinski was replaced by Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator, following the firing of Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel and the hiring of new head coach Eric Mangini. In 2009, Chudzinski returned to the San Diego Chargers as the tight ends coach and assistant head coach.

In 2011, Chudzinski was named the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator. He took one of the league's worst offenses in 2010 and transformed it into one of the top 10 offenses in 2011 with rookie quarterback Cam Newton. The Panthers finished seventh overall in the league on offense, fifth in points scored, and set a new franchise record for total yards in a season.

On January 10, 2013, Chudzinski was hired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns.[2] Chudzinski was fired at the end of the season after a 4-12 record.[3]

On February 8, 2014, the Indianapolis Colts announced that they had hired Chudzinski as special assistant to head coach Chuck Pagano. The two had previously worked on the same staff at the University of Miami from 1995 to 2000, and also with the Cleveland Browns in 2004.

my buddy played at um during butch/coker years. He told me he thinks Chud is a great hire. this is a kid who thought randy shannon wouldnt work and his response to goldens hire "whats an al golden? this will never work." he said chud is a great coach but he just worries he will want another shot at NFL. he couldn't foresee him going to another school other than miami once here.

Obviously not enough money to buy out his contract. Dont you think we would have done that already?

btw, i can only imagine what mark stoops could do with Chad Thomas, Owens, young, etc UM DB coach during our NC years, then built up the FSU defense under Jimbo. Now has a Kentucky team with little talent playing hard in SEC.

By the way, Chud's buyout was $10.5MM...I think this is a perfect scenario if not Mark Stoops...

Rob Chudzinski got the raw end of the deal in Cleveland, but things might not be quite as bad as they seem as he heads for the unemployment line. Chudzinski had a buyout clause in his contract and will receive $10.5 million from the Browns after being fired Sunday night after one year on the job, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
