...by a major program for not meeting their expectations who went to another major program and won a NC? I've been thinking about it but can't come up with any.

Gene Stallings. Fired from TAMU and won title at Bama.

There are also NFL coaches who win Super Bowls after another team fires them. I.e. Belicheat and Dungy.

No but a NC shouldn't even be a worry of Miami's. Winning the coastal should be and even that seems like a major thing for where this program is

Nick Saban was fired. Pete Carroll was fired.

As far as more NFL coaches who won Super Bowls after being fired also add Tom Coughlin, Mike Shanahan, Gary Kubiak, sort of Jon Gruden. Basically every one that won a Super Bowl for a long time now.

Lou Holtz was fired from Arkansas after a disappointing 6-5 season. He went on to win a NC at Notre Dame.

I'm pretty sure that information doesn't validate any points however.

He didn't say NFL. He said college

Wow, good one. So who should we hire now that you've proven Richt won't succeed here? As an aside, I'm assuming your answer will include the word "***" in it somewhere. I know you like to talk about that, so feel free if it helps you think.

We should hire an offensive coordinator.

Sounds like a good idea, but OP doesn't mention that. His implication seems to be that Richt won't take Miami to the promised land. As such you'd think the answer was a different HC, so I'm wondering who?

Lots of coaches are fired for not meeting expectations. Many of those have gone on to have success at other universities. Richt inherited this roster and some of the most talented payers are no longer on this team for one reason or another. Give him at least one to two recruiting classes before jumping to conclusions. We are on the right track. The OL is so bad that it doesn't matter what play is called if there is no time to execute it. It's only been 7 games. Look at the talent he brought in this class and most of those guys are starting as true freshman. That speaks to the talent that he was stuck with. Hard to made chicken salad when all you have is chicken ****.

Name some.

Not talking about NFL.

Why are you such an emotional and touchy sissy? I asked a a question because I couldn't think of any guys who fit the criteria. You then stomp your feet like a whiny chick. Log off, sissy.

When has Miami hired a coach who won a natty BEFORE coming to UM?

Y'all continue to think of this administration in a vacuum. Until it goes out and plucks an Urban Meyer, I refuse to believe it ever will.

The fact is UM shelling out 4 mil for Richt and another truckload for his staff was the victory. The IPF is another one. Simply stepping into the ring with modern college football from a monetary commitment standpoint was a win. Look at who we hired before Richt: NONE of them were wanted by major schools -- and none of them have been wanted since. Our last three HCs have spent a combined 4-5 seasons HCing since we canned them. All by Coker at UTSA when they started their freaking program, and then he got fired again.

That's the expectation imbalance Miami fans don't want to see: the glacial pace at which this Admin changes their mindset. We witnessed a tectonic move with the Richt hire, and it just barely brought us to a level playing field.

Now some of you are asking why we didn't hire an Urban or Saban, like UM's mindset is even in the same orbit as Alabama or Ohio State. It's not. It likely never will be. But hey, maybe if the fan base was juuuuust a bit more committed to the banner strategy we could get there.
