Can we get real analysis on here?

Lol so now his Defense's as a DC was bad? Sure man. Not even the point I'm arguing. We're talking about them extending his contract being premature. They literally waited until the last year.

I'm simply stating he had no business being named the head coach at the University of Miami in the first place. There was never any arguing of that point and just another in the long line of failures by this admnistration.

Two failures, counting the extension.

Or do you guys only follow this team to celebrate when we win, and whine and moan when we lose? Do any of you actually like football?

An example of real analysis: Roman Marciante's article yesterday (https://www.canesinsight.com/news/.6643/). Even-handed. Highlighted both the good and the bad.

The team is a handful of plays away from being 7-0. They would be a fraud 7-0 team, but when you're that close to being undefeated, you're not a dumpster fire, either. Good things are happening, just not enough of them to overcome the bad things plus the bad luck. Why don't we talk about the good things in a level-headed way, and talk about the bad things in a level-headed way, and talk about the bad luck in a level-headed way?

All of this complaining about the coaches, the AD, the BOT, etc...it's just freaking boring. We get it. Your team lost and you are sad.

But for those of us who actually like football, who like to follow the story line of a season, the story line of multiple seasons, the career arcs of players, etc., this mindless, nuance-less negativity is just so...****...boring.

Intelligence like this is welcomed and much needed on this board full of angry clowns.

Thanks for showing up!

Great post 👍!

So, missing field goals is coaching? Ivey not doing what he was told is coaching?. The only part of coaching those 2 things are, is that both are still on the team. SET AN EXAMPLE AND PULL THE SCHOLARSHIP

You trot him out there after giving up 9/9 pass attempts the week prior. He shouldn't be in. That is coaching.
FG kicking maybe you have a point but that many misses there is not enough correcting going on.

You really want more nuanced analysis of a home loss to a 1-5 Ga Tech team that lost to The Citadel?

This transitive property stuff is so ******* ghey.

Illinois just beat Wisconsin and Illinois was 2-4, barley beat UCONN, and lost to Eastern Michigan.

GT sucks but when you gift a team a special teams TD (**** you Ivey), a long pass TD (**** you Ivey), and your QB is too dumb to throw the ball away on a blown up screen pass and gives up a defensive TD (Kosi), on top of having the worst placekickers of all time .... **** happens.

OK let me take stock of the responses and summarize.

-There is no room for nuance. This program unequivocally sucks in every way.
-Anyone who looks for even the slightest bit of positivity is an idiot.
-Everyone needs to be fired, and until then, things are hopeless.

So if all of that is the case, why do some of you post 1,000s of times per year here? Why are you even wasting your time on this site? Do you just want to shout at random strangers at the internet about how bad things are?

Geez. That's pretty pathetic. I like football and I like following the team, so it makes sense why I come here and to the other sites, but for those of you who believe things to be hopeless, what's the point? You're not open to having a discussion, so it's not that. There's no one on here that matters, so it's not like you're swaying people by coming on here and shouting. Is it that you get off on negativity?

Very bizarre. I'm going to go do something productive now.

You're trying to use logic when 90% of these mopes are equivalent of gorillas at the zoo throwing *****.

Ridiculous analogy. One's a conference road game between two P5 teams which happens all the time. The other is a home game for a P5 team with an FCS opponent.

We are also a few plays from being 1-6 so there's that.

Correct, and that would be insanely bad luck. You can't assume that a team will win or lose ALL of its close games. But you CAN assume they will split them.

So far we have had 5 games where the win probability hovered around 50% for long stretches of the game, including late in the game. (CMU was always comfortable - i.e. >90% win prob - since they never had the ball and a chance to tie/win.) We are 1-4 in those games. It's reasonable to assume that we should have 1 or 2 more wins.

7-0 is not realistic given the way we have played, but we have played well enough to be 5-2 vs. our schedule. That doesn't mean we're a great team, but it certainly doesn't mean we're a dumpster fire.

My concern is that the losses and the negativity start to weigh on the team, and the wheels come off.

Ohhhhhh noooooooo. I got blocked by a RETARDDDDDDD

Another post where you use the word re****. I've read maybe 6 of your posts in the past 24 hours, and 4 of them are you calling some a re****.

You have quite the limited vocabulary. Aim to be more creative. You can go to thesaurus.com for help.

"Oh no. I got blocked by a re****", with 5 extra h's, 7 extra o's, 6 extra D's, and an all caps RE****. You must be delightful in real life.

Excellent post. I'd pay a lot of money to be able to discuss Miami football with intelligent people who are like-minded. This is most certainly not that place.

Good points! So, why are you here? Where’s your analysis?

If @Lance Roffers give a deeply scathing analysis this week (which is inevitable), are you going to be pining for more "nuance?"

I get the distinct impression that you are really just asking for more people to agree with your take.

Had to take son to Cincinnati Children’s today. There won’t be an article from me this week, but there were some smart adjustments early in the game on offense.

Saw some poor decisions in second half and the missed tackles were appalling.

Miami has had an end-of-game expected win percentage>70% in three of the four losses this season and I had them >50% against Florida.

Connelly’s model for ESPN agrees with my percentages (while not exactly the same).

One viewpoint is bad luck. Another is that it takes a lot of poor decisions to lose that many games while being a huge favorite based on game script.

For me, I believe I’ve seen enough mistakes to expect changes in the offseason (not at HC).
