Can we get real analysis on here?

Bad luck is JT4 muffing a punt against UF. Hes a vet on a huge stage. That should not happen. Coached cant prevent that blunder but they can prevent this:

Bad coaching is awful tackling, racking up penalties, missing FG's, Ivey holding his **** in his hand on a fake punt, reverse in OT down 7, red zone failures on O&D.

Or do you guys only follow this team to celebrate when we win, and whine and moan when we lose? Do any of you actually like football?

An example of real analysis: Roman Marciante's article yesterday (https://www.canesinsight.com/news/.6643/). Even-handed. Highlighted both the good and the bad.

The team is a handful of plays away from being 7-0. They would be a fraud 7-0 team, but when you're that close to being undefeated, you're not a dumpster fire, either. Good things are happening, just not enough of them to overcome the bad things plus the bad luck. Why don't we talk about the good things in a level-headed way, and talk about the bad things in a level-headed way, and talk about the bad luck in a level-headed way?

All of this complaining about the coaches, the AD, the BOT, etc...it's just freaking boring. We get it. Your team lost and you are sad.

But for those of us who actually like football, who like to follow the story line of a season, the story line of multiple seasons, the career arcs of players, etc., this mindless, nuance-less negativity is just so...****...boring.

The problem with your analysis is that you appear to believe the reason we aren't 7-0 is because of a "handful of plays" as Manny has sold you on.

What is missing is the multitude of problems that had NOTHING to do with the "handful of plays" you are referring to.....

A "handful of plays" in the 4th quarter against VT cost us a W. What that doesn't address at all is why UM was down 28-0 to a woeful VT team in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why Manny is selling the bill of goods he is....it's his *** as head ball coach and he wants to give his kids any reason to continue to fight for him....but facts remain, this team was not prepared for the season, for whatever reason.

Trust me, we would LOOOVE to discuss real competitive college football, it just hasn't involved UM this season unfortunately.

The product we have been provided is difficult to constructively analyze because a lot of it has nothing to do with X and O's, but more about caring enough to put out even 85% effort through tackles, blocks, kicks, etc. We can choose to blame coaching or the players, but it is hard to analyze quitting...I'm just saying.

Now Brevin, Cam and a few others....there are definitely exceptions.

I'm one of the last to ever join the negativity bandwagon.... but oh, we're a dumpster fire alright!

I've been providing you with that real real for a while now. If you choose not to read it, idk what to tell you.

You really want more nuanced analysis of a home loss to a 1-5 Ga Tech team that lost to The Citadel?

Yes. It is possible. For example, check out Bill Connelly's work. Or the Roman Marciante article on this site yesterday.

I understand that some fans are so emotionally invested that all they care about is wins and losses. They are so deep into smack talk with neighbors and random strangers on the internet that they live and die with the team's results.

I also understand that some fans see the world in black and white. The world is rarely/never black and white, but a lot of people - typically, less intelligent people or people who have been manipulated - see it that way.

But all of that is so freaking lame. Here are some examples of interesting football things to talk about:
-On the fumble in the endzone, what happened? Dallas was wide open with blockers in front. It could've been a 90 yard TD. Should Perry have just lofted it towards him? Did he look the wrong way? Did GT just have the right play call in?...the meathead would say, "I don't care who made the wrong decision, the coaches should've coached that person better, fire the coaches!". But if you like football, you care about learning about that play.
-We had a 72% post-game win expectancy per SP+. How is that possible? Why do we keep losing games with such post-game win expectancies? Is it continued bad luck (possible, given the sample size) or something else?
-We missed a ton of tackles. We hadn't really missed many previously (check the stats). Why is that? Dartmouth doesn't even practice tackling, and are totally dominating. What the heck is going on?

But all of that requires liking football.

If only there was some way to analysis and measure how well we played vs all the teams we have played thus far.

They should create an analytic that tracks how well you perform against each team you play and then give it some type of numerical value.

OK let me take stock of the responses and summarize.

-There is no room for nuance. This program unequivocally sucks in every way.
-Anyone who looks for even the slightest bit of positivity is an idiot.
-Everyone needs to be fired, and until then, things are hopeless.

So if all of that is the case, why do some of you post 1,000s of times per year here? Why are you even wasting your time on this site? Do you just want to shout at random strangers at the internet about how bad things are?

Geez. That's pretty pathetic. I like football and I like following the team, so it makes sense why I come here and to the other sites, but for those of you who believe things to be hopeless, what's the point? You're not open to having a discussion, so it's not that. There's no one on here that matters, so it's not like you're swaying people by coming on here and shouting. Is it that you get off on negativity?

Very bizarre. I'm going to go do something productive now.

We’re too busy running around with pitchforks right now... and rightfully so. You’re more than welcome to watch one of Manny’s postgame analytics vids if you want.

And while h
You want real analysis?????

We suck.

Manny sucks.

Enos sucks.

Baker sucks.

All facts.

If you don't edit to include Blake and administration I'm going to curse your name.

If @Lance Roffers give a deeply scathing analysis this week (which is inevitable), are you going to be pining for more "nuance?"

I get the distinct impression that you are really just asking for more people to agree with your take.

The undefeated would mean very little to nothing against how bad this schedule was(I take that back...A UF win would obviously be impressive)...CMU, VATech, and GT are all teams that should be beaten by a MARGIN. Can you slip up and lose one, esp early in coach regime's first year or 2, sure... can you struggle with some new pieces and pull away late? Absolutely. And also don't forget there were things was some luck our way at times too...A tipped 30 yard TD pass against UF for instance. Also some of the things you are writing off as bad luck, like 6 missed short FG DON'T LOOK LIKE THEY ARE IMPROVING....Not blocking a soul for 7 straight games ISN'T GOING TO IMPROVE NOW.

It also would be nice to be able to point to success within the staff...You can't do that for 90 percent of our staff. We are entering the "tough" part of our schedule (outside of UF), and are slightly worse on defense, the same on offense, and still brutal on special teams (although punting has improved)...

I'm never a negative type, and I never side with angry mobs...**** I've been attacked by those type posters in the past. It's just very hard to be positive right now....

And when you see Ryan Ragone on the field (to send some type of message I'd assume???) with the season on the line, while you burned Zach Mcloud redshirt against Bethune Cookman and CMU...When you see a team playing for a FG when we can't kick. When you see DJ Ivey NOT GET BENCHED, when you see plays continually being called as if we don't have offensive line issues...When we need an offensive line overhaul and you get reports that Antonio Smith may or may not be in this class, and he is one of only 3 OL commits when we need 5-6 (Praying to god they have some portal info here)...Yeah it's hard to find any competence right now.

This is what a thinly disguised slurper looks like.

Lol or a handful of plays from being 1-6?

If you think there is anything to be positive about right now with this team you are mistaken.

You have a 5* Qb, multiple 4* star WRs, 5* and 4* RB riding the bench and you can’t score against horrible defenses.

You have 4* LBs on the bench and you are playing walk ons can’t stop the run.

It’s pathetic. There is no analysis needed when you lose to a 1-5 team.
