Can’t Put Lipstick on a Pig and Think She’ll Win the Beauty Pageant.

They are not accurate for everyone else.

I'm not going to have a full discussion about recruiting rankings AGAIN...but there are plenty of teams that are garbage in that Blue Chip Ratio list. They aren't accurate for Auburn, Oklahoma, Florida State, Notre Dame, Florida, LSU, or aTm either. There are MORE teams on that Blue Chip list that underperform than perform at level.

I've seen every coach this school has had over the past 20 years, nearly every single year - with only few exceptions - have a roster quit on them - not only in games, but on the year.

If you think any coach has this collection any better...you have no proof to say otherwise, so you can continue to think that.

Miami has been an on average 7-5 team for 15 years. This is what that looks like.
Larry Coker
Randy Shannon
Al Golden
Mark Richt
Manny Diaz
Mario Cristobal

That is a laundry list of terrible coaches. Richt is the best and he was a geriatric who wanted to play OC.

That list is why Miami has always underperformed their talent level.

It did. Manny Diaz is no longer here. Ed Orgeron is no longer at LSU. Mullen is gone. Harsin gone.

As for the second bold...maybe. But we don't know based on their ability to get anything from this collection of players. I have a hard time believing that national champs, conference champs, guys recognized as the best at their job are the leading cause of death when you've got a murder weapon with 85 sets of finger prints on'em that have been at the seen of the crime over and over and over again.

Maybe Mario and his staff stinks. Its possible. They certainly look stinky coaching this collection of players who have looked stinky for years now. I guess we'll find out.
And if Mario doesn't make changes (on the offensive side of the ball in my opinion) we will have a long 5-10 years because we're tied at the hip to him. Of course no one will care about this program at that point to tell you that you were wrong about this staff. You seem to think Mario will magically bring in vastly better players and I disagree with you. Tbh if you look at the recruiting profiles of a lot of our players - Mario tried recruiting them to Oregon. I'm hoping there will be an upgrade but I don't think it will be as massive as you seem to think it will be.

Look man I want this coaching staff to succeed. But I'm not going to blindly absolve them of responsibility when they are on the verge of producing one of the worst Miami teams in the last 40+ years. This team has a legitimate chance to not win another game this year and in my opinion is likely to go 2-3/3-2 the rest of the season. At what point in your eyes do the coaches start absorbing the bulk of the blame man?

Mario needs a big talent advantage to make up for his deficiencies as a game day coach. We knew that coming in. Yes the roster and culture isn’t great but Mario can’t over come that with great coaching. He recruits very well and brings toughness. It’ll take him longer than say a great X O coach to fix this. Imo longterm it’ll be worth it when the roster is flipped but Mario isn’t the type to come in and jump start a team quickly with coaching. He’s a poor man’s Butch.

I mean, Coker ended up getting another program off the ground and got them bowl eligible...bad for here, but not a terrible coach.

Mark Richt was once one of the better coaches in the nation and gave us the best season we've had in 20 years. His decline isn't due to being terrible.

Mario Cristobal won multiple conference titles before he got here.

Some of those are not like the others.

Shannon, Diaz, and Golden...special brand of terrible...sure.

Worth pointing out the other coaches who would have killed for the job, but UM wouldn't consider them because they weren't UM guys. The only semi-legit hiring process was Al Golden and frankly, I see a carbon copy in Cristobal. If the Cristo-bros want to give Mario 5-10 years to build a team, then they must also think that Al Golden should have been given the time too. Despite recruiting with both hands tied behind his back due to the Shapiro scandal, he still brought in nearly all the talent that gave UM its best season in almost 15 years.

Corey Gaynor and his older brother Chris.
Question for you. Is the city life that we love to compare to boring college towns actually hurting us with this generations players or is it something else? Just curious since you actually know of a player off this past regime.

****, what could have been if we had this financial commitment with CMR (remember he helped pay for indoor facility lol) and him not being inflicted with a debilitating disease. CMR proved that you can win at Miami and he did it quick as ****.

I've not once absolved the coaching staff.

But, I'm also not going to redirect from my point that the players on Miami's team right now stink. They are never prepared, emotionally fragile, they don't execute, undisciplined, etc. Blame the coaching if you want, but this same group of upperclassmen have cycled through two head coaches, three offensive coordinators, three OL coaches, three WR coaches, etc etc. I guess all of the coaches stink and the poor players are the result of everyone else's ineptitude.

He built up Oregon and what he did at FIU and as impressive if you actually know the whole story. I know most of the idiots here will just look at the record and have no clue what transpired and what he took over. He’ll build a tough , talented roster. That’s going to happen. Btw I said ” poor man’s Butch “ and that’s more than fair.
C'mon man. Dude was 3-9 when he got fired in Year 6 at FIU.

Do you know the circumstances of that program when he got there? The people that point at his total record there tells me everything about their ignorance on the subject. Right down to the reason he was fired. Him taking that team to a 8-5 season and a bowl win was crazy impressive at the time.

I'm well aware of the circumstances at FIU. Mario went 3-9 in Year 6. You can't spin that disaster.

What you have here is sheer desperation. An over-leveraged romper room style NIL ladened roster (Including walk-ons) coached by a multi-million dollar staff, surrounded by the likes of Ed Reed, Alonzo Highsmith, Jason Taylor, and some billionaire who wants you to put you health history on your iPhone...and they can't figure out how to beat Middle Tennessee Sister's school for the blind...also it's not their fault, and we are all dumb, and the worst fan base. The only thing I feel dumb about is not getting in on the fleece.

I don’t get the whole either/or thing here. It can be the coaches AND the players.

The players fumbled, missed tackles, dropped passes, etc.

But the coaches’ job is to clean that stuff up and get the players ready to execute their assignments.

Again, the teams Miami is losing to (with the exception of aTm), would kill to have Miami’s players on their roster.
its the coaches job to correct mistakes each week and show progression. were 7 games in. we know the team has regressed everywhere.

Bro, he did it with Goldens recruits. These "loser recruits" that are supposedly to blame for Cristobals failures? "Program builder" Richt laid this foundation. Really atrocious evals pretty much across the board. He had lost his touch long before he got sick.

A program that just went to FBS with facilities lower than a lot of highs schools and was dead broke. Kids changed in closets. On top of that he walked into the second youngest team in the entire nation. Then took them to their first bowl game in school history and winning record. To put things in context the program was 0-18 in fbs when he arrived and on a 35 game losing streak lol. There’s no programs close now to use as a comparison.

When he was fired it was because of bumping heads with Pete Garcia, not his coaching.

Once again I think some folks here really lack knowledge of the situation and just look at his record on wiki. Then that justifies their opinion of him sucking . Like I said when people bring up FIU I’m just checking out because it’s ignorance. I‘ve already wasted too much time on it.

I thought he did well at FIU. I thought he did fine at Oregon. I dont think hes doing even average here right now.

I'm well aware that Pete Garcia is an *******. Nonetheless Mario went 3-9 in year 6 and that made Pete's decision that much easier. You can't go 3-9 in year 6.
