2026 Calvin Russell III

So lemme get this straight... Coleman is short n skinny and all I hear is "he'll grow more" or it doesn't matter "look at that arm"..
But with this cat... he's too skinny and overrated?
Top that off with **** near everyone saying we can't, won't or don't land 5 star receivers from FL...which this dude IS!
Y'all trim as **** 😆

This thought is so overrated. We had skinny guys like Harley, Pope, and Wiggins having no issues getting off the line. Them muddafvkas just couldn't catch a **** cold. Not so much Harley but still. Against a physical corner or not, getting off the line is more about TECHNIQUE. But yeah, I'd still prefer all of the athletes on my team to look like they're having good nutrition lol
It is slightly overrated. However not in the context applied. You can't compare just simply the fact that they were all skinny. Number one Dee wasn't skinny. Far more importantly to this point a short skinny dude it's pretty obvious what he's going to be he'll be a scat playing out of the slot more than likely. Because they have short legs and they're explosive off the line they are very shifty nine out of 10 if not 10 out of 10 they're explosive straight out of the snap. That's not the case for Russell and you have this kind of body type You're a long strider You're not getting off the line and just flying. If he was the kid would be a real freak of nature

If it’s between him and keys do you take the committed football player ?

Why do people keep using this "if it's between these two" types of phrases.

First, we have 105 scholarships now. Second, who are all the other WRs that we would take that would force a choice like this?

Come on, now.

No one actually thinks that’ll be the case. It’s a message board and it’s the offseason. So just sparking debate. And even if we got 105 now it doesn’t mean we can afford both. 2 five star receivers is pricy

That is a good point

Thankfully, our staff is evaluating him, instead of this board. I agree, Russell, is slightly overrated and is still a must get. Did anyone notice the size of Evans and Robinson visiting now, also? They are skinny. Most WR's are skinny. Skinny, is a George going into the draft at 168lbs. I also like Evans. I have Wingo higher than our staff does so. I believe one of Russell, Keys or Wingo is a must get for us. Wingo is third of that group for me. I was counting on 1 of the 2 and Wingo. We have several others ahead of Wingo and he looks UF bound. By the way, the kid everyone agrees is the best WR in S. FL N. Lennear who has rumors of reclassifying is listed at 170 lbs. I think that is questionable. WR is the one position where weight doesn't really matter. If you don’t get hurt every tackle. Well K or punter.

Agree on this take. Russell looks skinny but he’s also 6-5. Kids that height will look even skinnier. You can’t teach 6-5 with a long wingspan.

As for lennear, he is supposedly that dude and is a sure fire 5 star next year. But, he apparently has other issues that would impact his ability to qualify. My guess is academics are a mess.

And so was Jeremiah Smith. Of course it does. I’m not having this moronic discussion for the 8 billionth time. The teams who win the most sign the most elite players. It’s not that complicated. I hope they sign Russell, he’s got a chance to be really special. Thankfully the staff agrees and they’re being very aggressive with him.
I’d be very happy if the kid is in the class. All I’m saying is he shouldn’t be chosen over Keys, or be the reason you can’t sign one of the other 5 stars you’re after, bc he takes up too much of the payroll.

I’ll let everyone know what I think when I’m done evaluating his film

Should take me about 21 days to sort through all the information

Funny how we deflate players when we don't believe they're going to come here. Make no mistakes this kid is the goods but as someone else on the board put it more eloquently allocating resources and roster construction/management are now a big part of CFB. I hope he ends up a Cane but I am leaning towards not a Cane.

As long as those resources are allocated in a manner to land Keys, I’m good. But you can’t miss on Keys and also let this kid bounce. That ain’t gonna work.

I agree but I don't believe we land either. Would love for people to talk **** to me if we land one or both for the record and call me a fake insider. I'll take the trade off! Message board vitriol versus a badass WR class is preferred by me;)

My post about NIL resource allocation was actually from reading between the lines of things you have written. So let me continue to extrapolate and I’m not asking you to confirm or deny anything you can’t or don’t want to.

UM may not be willing to allocate the same resources to Russell as some other schools. And to take it a step farther, UM may not believe in allocating the level of NIL resources to the WR position as some other schools.
And before people freak out, please remember that UM simply may disagree with the valuation other teams are placing on the WR position. This happens in sports all the time.

The perception of stealing a recruit from Mario in his backyard is important for some schools. No different than Mario stealing a few recruits from a whole conference;)
