Hate to say it....but I disagree with OP. I used to think that way too. But the game has changed. Its becoming increasingly difficult to miss out on top prospects and replace them with unheralded guys just as good or better. With the media exposure today, if you got potential, people will spot you. 15 years ago, a guy like Demetrius Jackson would still be a zero star instead of a 4 star with the SEC trying to close.
It is a different age, and the same rules can't be applied. Recruiting is big business now....top ranked recruiting classes (for the most part) do pay off.
