Butch talking QBs on ESPN

Cribby already posted the link to the article where BUTCH SAYS HE WANTS TO COACH AGAIN, HAD A JOB LINED UP, AND THEY CHANGED THEIR MIND ON HIM.

Please stop the "Butch was just sticking it to UNC by making them pay his full buyout" propaganda. His buyout payments were about $600K per year ...

If he's the competitor most believe he is, he would not collect $600K to do nothing as opposed to collecting 3 to 4 times that amount to compete as a HC. Competitors compete ... That's what they do. It's why Chizik is a DC for Larry fedora at UNC ... And why Muschamp is a DC at Auburn ... And why Lane Kiffin is an OC for Bama.

Coaches coach!

Butch clearly has some issues that NCAA ADs are aware of. Whether yall "Butch Super Fans" believe it, or not, is irrelevant. The guy wants to coach ... And the phone ain't ringing, aside from his TV and radio show gigs.

It is what it is. Doesn't change how great he was for us, or diminish what he built ... But 1999-2000 was a REALLY LONG TIME AGO ...

Let Saban lose one more NC or Kirby Smart take a HC job and watch how fast ole Nick hires Butch. We just think Butch would kill it here, imagine him at Bama as DC with Nick.

That would be a nightmare.

For ALL of college football.

Word on the street is Butch couldn't get a sniff up north in the CFL. And no way Saban hires Butch as DC. First off, he'd want younger, hungrier blood. But if he went that way, he'd more like try talking Wannstead out of retirement - better coach, superior defensive mind.

Better defensive mind. At least fooled people or was in demand . . . not so much Butch.

Butch won super bowl as DC. Didn't have to fool anyone. Runs circles around Wanny as DC, recruiter and developer. Nice try though

Ok, it's understood that the fantasy crowd loves Butch, but let's get in touch with reality and deal in facts. For most of Jimmy Johnson's college and pro career, Wannstedt was his defensive coordinator - not Butch Davis. Fact is, most of the time Butch took orders from Wannstedt as his underling DL coach. So are we to assume the great Jimmy Johnson didn't recognize coaching talent? Or would revisionists suggest he had the wrong guy overseeing his defense?

And it wasn't because Wannstedt was older/more experienced. He's actually younger than Butch.

Another fact, Butch - who allegedly runs circles around Wanny as DC - was a coordinator ONCE in his career. Let that sink in - ONCE. And that was in Dallas after Jimmy and Wannstedt accumulated talent and put their system in place, and Wannstedt left for the head job in Chicago.

Wannstedt was on the Pitt staff that won the national championship in '76. He coordinated Jimmy's defense at Oklahoma State - Butch coached receivers/tight ends. Wannstedt coordinated Jimmy's defense with the Canes, winning another national title - Butch coached the defensive line. Wannstedt coordinated Jimmy's defense in Dallas and again with the Dolphins. Later, he coordinated the defense in Buffalo.

Granted, Wannstedt's head coaching resume is average at best, but don't make a slurper claim that Butch runs circles around him as a DC. Facts don't lie.

And Butch's doesn't either. Lulz at twisting everything that Butch didn't recruit and develop all of our national championship teams but the first.

Hey, just deal in facts. Can't decipher this nonsense.

No one said Wannstedt didn't know anything about defense - so don't know why we're talking about Wannstedt on a Butch Davis thread.
So Wannstedt was DC at Dallas?

Butch may have been a D-Coordinator only ONCE, but Butch as Defensive Coordinator at Dallas - won back to back Superbowls. Wannstedt didn't do that. Let that sink in.

Butch was the one that on Thursdays, JJ let go to do talent evaluation and recruiting.

And then as Head Coach, it was Butch that put together the greatest college football ever assembled.

Wannstedt as Head Coach here and there didn't do so well.

Just more Butch slurping. Understand the facts may be hard to swallow, but another slurper earlier claimed that Butch run circles around Wanny as DC. Never happened.

I don't know how one compares talent as DC.

Butch as DC won two Superbowls, back to back.

How many has Wannstedt won?

Just more Butch slurping. Understand the facts may be hard to swallow, but another slurper earlier claimed that Butch run circles around Wanny as DC. Never happened.

Bottom line, Butch was Wanny's caddy. He took orders from him. He was his boss. Dallas with Butch as DC won 2 SB - jimmy and Wanny's talent and system. Wanny won 2 national titles. Butch only one stint as DC in career, otherwise a position coach. Jimmy hired Wanny after Dallas as DC. Unless a slurper stuck in the past it's fairly obvious who has superior resume as DC.
