Butch Davis to FIU

The reactions from our fan base are very strange. They already crap on fiu and many crap on butch and this hire. So why are so many of our fans seem bothered by this hire? If he fails there, who cares, right?

Where do you see anyone "bothered"? It wouldn't even be a topic if Butch's harem wasn't constantly fawning over him. Most of us realize that his tenure at FIU will be similar to that of Turtle Thomas. Remember when he was going to come in and start cleaning up in recruiting?
 
Bigly Davis is a fantastic hire for FIU. They would have been hard pressed to find anyone with those kind of talent evaluation skills for the next 30 years. Bigly will stack their rooster because that's what he does.

If he is smart enough now to hire innovative coordinators then he will Bigly the fvck outta the CUSA.

You can put your Bigly on that.

Well they seem. Others with the over emphasizing on how bad he will do there. Yes, most likely he will accomplish very little other then improve recruiting and player development. But he's old and fiu is a bad program so why complain about it being such a bad hire. Who cares. It's not like fiu is losing anything by hiring him considering the current state of that program

There has to be some part of this for Butch where he wants to try and win right down the street from Miami. Don't think for a second that isn't in his mind. He wants to try and show passing him over was the wrong move.

I wasn't opining on whether it made sense. It's close so he is in Miami's face. And if he makes them even remotely relevant then that is a huge win for him in accomplishing that goal.

Don't disagree that it's not an optimal place for him to win. But if he went to some FIU equivalent on the West Coast and won, it's likely no one would notice. If he wins at FIU (and by win, I mean turn the program around somewhat) people in South Florida will notice. He probably could have scored a crap job somewhere else, but this gives him a chance to be in the South Florida press.

I'm hearing that fans at Texas, LSU, Notre Dame, and Oregon are going to riot/protest because Butch is off the market. He was the top name to get each one of those jobs based on his hall of famous corching skills and those fans are just beside themselves now that he took that highly coveted job at FIU. Coaches that haven't won **** and have a 73-49 record are few and far between and those fans know that they let a living legend escape their grasp. Now they can only dream about what could have been...

I'm scared because an irrelevant school hired an irrelevant coRch that has never won anything. Makes perfect sense.

Paul Davis is the most overrated coRch in the history of Miami message boards. The guy has a 1-3 record vs East Carolina.
