Bruce Feldman Says a Loss to UL puts Golden on THE HOT SEAT

Exactly. There is no hot seat for Golden. Look at the recruits he's bringing in. Look at all he's doing right. The administration isn't going to fire a guy doing so many things right, unless he just falls the heck apart, both on and off the field. One stinking game will never put him on the hot seat. It's a clean slate now that the NCAA mess is over. Hot seat my eye.
Is Feldman financing the payout? After the B.S. we've been through the last 3 years, Al will get a couple of years to turns this around. Anybody that follows the Canes would understand that, so he's just throwing his made up story out there to get attention. I can get better news on the Canes form some posters on this website than the imposters on the others. It would would be a more legit story if were Cory Feldman reporting, his eyes pertruding from the grave.

Randy Shannon says hello.

Is the implication that Randy was doing everything right and he got fired solely for the USF loss?

Not solely on USF; however, it was clear Randy was not the man for the job as the season went on. I predict the same will occur this year with Golden but the AD is too ***** to pull the trigger and it will be too late when they do.

If we lose that game i don't see us wining more than 7 games and then he should be fired.

So we lose to Louisville but win coastal. Fire Golden.... Wait

He didn't say Golden is getting fired if we lose to Louisville, he said Golden will be on the hot seat. Meaning if he loses to Louisville and doesn't win the coastal then their will be issues. If the team loses to UL and turns the season around wins the costal he's not going anywhere. Just win and he won't have to worry about it.

Shannon didn't get fired just for USF. Shannon got fired for a number of reasons. The program was obviously not getting any better. In fact, there were signs we were going the wrong way. They took a chance on him because of his ties to the program, and supposedly knowing how to fix things. I think they hoped he would be a "quick fix" to correct the ship that had spun out of Coker's control. When it became apparent he wasn't, it was only a matter of time. Humiliating losses like the FSU loss, USF, and the UVA game in the OB really soured a lot of the alumni and fans on him. His recruiting had peaked early on, but seemed to be on a downward trend the last two seasons. Shannon also did himself NO favors. He was a terrible communicator, and just did not express himself well. He had little to no relationship with the media, so he couldn't fast talk and pacify much of anyone the way some other coaches try to do.

Shannon just turned inward and things just got worse and worse. Everything about the team at that point just felt like it was going the wrong way IMO.

For Golden, this season will tell the tale. If he can show progress, recruiting continues to stay strong and even gains some momentum, if the team looks like its developing, new stars area emerging, we win some good ball games, hold our own, see how we can handle the Coastal. That will tell the tale. If we end like we did last season, he's in trouble. And should be.

Maybe it was his inability to get through the first quarter without using all his timeouts? He sure as heck wasn't bringing in an abundance of talent. If that were the case, we'd have had more upperclassman leadership the last few years. It was non-existent. The USF game was just the straw that broke the camels back.

Then what got Shannon fired? He had a comparable record and was bringing in "top recruits" too while trying to maintain some respectability of our players on and off the field.

Randy was doing a heck of a lot more wrong than losing ONE game. Al Golden has more commits for the 2016 class than Randy had two months away from signing day. Think about that. Randy was also burning bridges locally, where Golden is building them. There were so many thing Shannon did wrong that Golden isn't. Also, the administration knows the crap storm that has just passed with the NCAA. They are going to give Golden time. Now I want Golden to start winning on a high level as badly as any real Cane fan, but when the man is doing so much right, stocking the team with more talent than it's had in many years, there is no "hot seat" for a loss to UL. No freaking way.

If you follow recruiting then you would know a commit for a class two years down the road means squat. He isn't exactly killing it in 2015 and there is no "cloud." You don't keep a coach for a class two years down the road. Unfortunately, it will happen. Don't forget the PSU scandal Golden pulled, Randy never tried a stunt like that.

Something else to keep in mind. The administration's experience in the hiring process last time and last two times around, may affect these decisions.

If they feel like based on what they want to pay, there isn't going to be much interest of guys beyond the level of guys like AG, Randy Edsall, etc... they may decide to just ride it out with him for another year. Every time we fire another coach, every year we get further and further away from the glory days, this job becomes less a "hot spot" for talented coaches. The big names weren't beating down the door last few times. If we can AG, we may be looking at not much of an upgrade. That alone could buy him another year, make them decide to wait til they are REALLY SURE he cant turn it around.

Randy got fired because he lost the fanbase. When UM is ranked in the pre season top 15 (2010) and you go 7-5 you deserve to be fired. That 2010 team was supposed to be the team that turned UM around, instead the team got worse and Randy had to go.

This isn't fat *** Beast, Feldman is actually legit.

I respect Feldman but I think on this he might be a little too national to really realize the leeway and cushion that Alfred has with the school. It would take a meltdown that most mopes can't even fathom to actually put him on the hotseat this year.

UM doesn't need to hire a "big name". UM just needs to hire the right guy. And the right guy will always want to come down here and earn his stripes where he only has to walk 2 miles to recruit 3/4 of his roster.

UM could have had Gus Malzahn the last two times we hired a HC. Could have had Bob Petrino or Butch Davis last December when Golden was cuckolding Shalala with Ped State. Chad Morris would cut off a nut to come down here and install his high-octane offense. The list of potential "right guys" is a mile long. Doesn't have to be Saban or Gruden.

Nobody wanted Randy Shannon. It was impossoble for him to pull that stunt.

It'll actually only take a total fan revolt like we saw against USF. Shalala was pointed when she clearly stated that the fan reaction at that game played a significant role in Shannon's firing.

The NFL and other programs aren't exactly knocking the door down for Golden. If they did its pretty obvious he would bounce. Renewed? Pfffft.

Its calm now. If we get like annihilated by UL, he is on the hot seat. They will find the money if they need to let him go, trust me. No coach as ever stayed at Miami because they didnt want to pay him. The people making excuses are simply delusional. UL have a new staff...totally new and they lost their best players, including their all world QB. If Golden can't beat them and worst get hammered by them....what are we supposed to hope for? Explain that. We better batter UL. He ran out of leash when he did the Pedo St stunt. They havent forgotten

So Golden is not on the hot seat now, but if he loses a game roughly half this board expects him to lose, then he is on the hot seat?

just not buying it

Not saying the seat shouldn't be warm, just not buying a loss at UL lights the match.

Exactly I was at that game and not once did I feel like Randy Shannon was going to survive Sunday afternoon. If the fans revolt against Golden after a poor start the pressure to make a coaching change will improve greatly. Fans are really the ones who decide these things. If the majority of the fan base is calling for the coaches head administration will listen.

Top 11 by 247, 23 commits (and counting), with 6 months left is not killing it? Have you seen the commit list?

As far as Randy, football aide. He was the CEO who hired Clint.

Lol @ Feldman. Many cane fans might agree, but at the end of the day the admin at Miami will not fire Golden.

We lose to UL and yes golden is on the hot seat and will risk losing the team not long after. A lot is riding on that UL game for golden.

Hope we are ready

I regret to inform you that Randy is the past and Golden is the present. None of what Randy did matters anymore. 3 and a half recruiting classes means this is Golden's team. Put up or shut up.
