For the millionth time the issue with the offense is SCHEME not playcalling. I don't care who's calling the plays when Richt's scheme is fundamentally broken. Sean McVay and Sean Payton couldn't salvage this scheme without input on system, play design and philosophy.

Carry on...

It’s both...quit acting like you know it all bc it’s in bold.

We don’t set up anything. BC was ripe for slugo but we never ran it...never. There is no feel for the game whatsoever on top of the horrible scheme.

So as a baseball player who's a casual football fan... straight question not trying to start an argument. Even I'm starting to see how predictable the offense is.. same **** over and over. Does a better qb.. and maybe some better ol play, make this a workable scheme? I'm trying to grasp what the thought process is in running those same failing plays. Would that **** work with a better qb? Not a deshaun watson type, just one of the middle ground acc qb's who seem to be able to hit players in stride against Miami. Y'all dudes that really know football, how bad is execution hurting this offense?

Very reasonable question - no need for caveats here. An elite OL like Bama or UGA has would make this a functional offense because they would provide a credible run threat on those simple inside handoffs that are a staple of Richt's. Theoretically that would open up the vertical passing game that Richt prefers. I honestly don't think there are any college QBs who could make something out of this offense because most of the pass plays fail by design with receivers blanketed on isolation routes relying on tough contested throws and catches. There aren't many pass concepts that break down coverage and many times there are plays called like all-verticals with no underneath options thus hanging the QB to dry in the face of pressure. You mention Deshaun Watson and even he would ultimately be forced to scramble for his life the same way Rosier and Perry do. But again an elite OL would make a tangible difference.

Thanks for good response. Tryna learn more about this stuff; one resource is https://www.footballstudyhall.com/2018/8/9/17662152/college-football-offense-elements-basics

Seems even a "use passer as a runner" is a possible credible scheme (think Malik?) - but there lacks a certain creativity and too much predictability with Richt and team's offensive gameplan, to our detriment.

It does seem though (as in link) that sometimes a "more simplistic" scheme works best with younger and inexperienced players. Makes me wonder what scheme (if any) works best for "mediocre" players? Now there's your creativity factor!

Thanks for the reply, the caveats are simply there because there's a lot of rage going on and I don't want to seem like I'm asking loaded questions or starting ****. I'm just trying to understand why I keep seeing the same **** over and over again. It's like the 5 yard passes on 3rd and 12. Is that some sort of check down or is that play expected to have 7 yac? Just not sure why that play is expected to work with a qb who has accuracy issues.

You have to look at the design of the play beyond the result. If it's a smash concept (corner route by #2, curl by #1) against Cover 2 zone and the QB throws a 5 yard curl then he's reading coverage and taking what the defense gives. If it's a 3-step drop and all WRs are running quick slants and/or curls then you know the play was designed for a quick throw which tells you Richt was playing it safe to punt because he's afraid of the pass rush and potential turnover. Richt seems to vacillate between aggressive all-verts calls and conservative 3rd and long draws or quick throws.

Richt has the play sheet in his hands, we literally see him calling the play into his headset, and Blackledge last night flat out said “Mark Richt calls all of the plays”, but clearly it’s all Thomas Brown’s fault.
looks like something you buy in the bookstore tell you all the combinations you need to push for Microsoft Excel.

It’s hard to fathom that Rick isn’t somehow intimately involved in calling plays when he’s looking at this play sheet, covering his mouth, and speaking into his headset before every play. Maybe he’s just relaying someone else’s plays in, but why would he need to do that?
Maybe he's just telling secrets to somebody at the other end.

Not trying to argue but ur wrong on this one. The last 2 hires were done completely by independent firms. They did the search and lined up all the candidates. That was coordinated through the dean and the ad. Problem before was weve had a ad who has simply been the Dean's fvck boy. I'm not a fan of this dude now either but hes done better than any of these corn bread douches shalalalalala brought in. I would love to see a real ad in here again that will actually stand up and fight for our athletic department. This is the time for that too. With frenk as the dean hes committed to getting it done. Love that man

Jake Blames should hold all the blame and now it lies upon Frenk to make the necessary change at AD.

Does he have the balls to do it? I gess that's the $4million question.

A few things:

1. What am I wrong about? Which of the last 4 extensions was "necessary"? Which coach didn't receive a buyout? Which hire wasn't atrocious? 15 years since our last truly relevant season?

2. As for the part in bold, this is the problem. We don't need an independent firm. That is just more waste. That is just more incompetence. We need an AD who has autonomy. We need a competent AD with passion. That isn't Blake. We deserve better.

So whether you hire a bad coach directly or indirectly, it doesn't address the actual issue. Also, why did we even need to hire an independent firm for Richt? He was FIRED one day and HIRED a few days later.

And don't forget, in regards to Frenk, it was him that pulled the trigger and got rid of ALbortion. It wasn't AL's fluffer Blake.

3. As for the underlined part, Blake fell assbackwards into the job became the AD in 2013 under Shalala. The only reason Blake got the job is because Eichorst left and we were unprepared. In addition, Blake being better than Eihorst or Hocutt isn't an accomplishment, per se. Someone is the smartest on the short bus. Finally, Blake is from the mid-west. He is like those corn bread douches and he too was hired under Shalala. He was a puppet then and he is a puppet today.

4. As for the part in italics. I want something simple. I want the admin to hire a competent and passionate AD. I want them to give this person autonomy. This doesn't describe Blake.

The dysfunction running through the program right now is disheartening. We are wasting a very good defense, and can't get any positive traction going for more than a week at a time. Then we lose 2 games to inferior opponents because of terrible coaching and it turns even more toxic.

I had such high hopes for the season. And despite week 1 I still felt we could pull things together with a new QB, and bam, it's like getting punched in the face by Mike tyson, we suck again.

GET ME A MOTHER FLIPPING SPECIAL TEAMS COACH OR GET THE FREAK OUT MY FACE

Weirdest poRster on this site = CaptainSaveAHoeInOrlando.
Someone tell him he can put in his signature that he’s connected to the team and knows coaches and players, that way he doesn’t have to constantly remind people in all of his posts. We know already

And I've been telling your mother for awhile now damnit bytch why couldnt we have stuck with anal. U genius level people like this fvck boy @simply canes saying he was sitting within earshot listening to mark richt call plays go so far out the way to lie to you simpletons that you should be lined up with the staff & shot right along with them. God **** germans really let us down when people like you still run prevalent. Cause yeah to spell it out while were playing in Virginia @ their stadium getting our *** handed too us by that crap team crowd going crazy you had perfect hearing of what was being said... if not one single one of you has actually played this game try and figure this one out while your apparent oc is bellowing out our play calls (in a headset by the way that cancels background noise largely)over the loud *** crowd so this dïck sucking mamawhicho @simplycanes can come run on here to say while he was sitting in the upper deck jacking off his inbred twin brother he could hear everything so crystal clear. You all can be so desperate to rationalize **** that you can easily become part of the problem. So quick to hold the wrong people accountable for the wrong ****. Richt is a problem for many of other things at this rate.1 being just like alfraud hes refusing to put the team first... all this he said she said **** I have no interest in. Call me whatever youd like & believe who & what u choose. Ignorance is bliss. But unless you live in miami,la or NY & would like to talk more intimately about this than simply hide behind your keyboards in peace knowing the worthless cowards you'll always be... have a great life at burger king

That ur 100% correct about. I thought what your point was is that the bot was responsible for all of that. I apologize if I misunderstood. That was my only point is it's not the bot who was responsible for any of that. Definitely no arguement out of me on blake either. He never shouldve even got to the point of being named the acting ad let alone got the job. For her everything was midwest values & numbers.

Nothing will likely change until the right person is given the job and given the job with autonomy.
