Brock Berlin as our QB...

Kyle Wright had 3 OC's in 3 years. With some of the worst modern offensive lines we had (leading to Kehoe getting fired), is was no wonder Wright was a sack machine.
Wright was awful. The excuse machine has been out there since he was at UM. Blame everyone else. Then watch him. No vision, no instincts, can’t feel the pocket, can’t move in it, can’t get away from pressure, ducks and takes a sack, makes a bad decision with the ball, whatever. Far worse ‘prospects’ came through at QB at the U over the same era, effectively, and did much better at the U.

Brock Berlin had all the physical gifts in the world....He is still one of the top 10 all time highest rated recruits per 247....And, I believe, the highest rated prospect at any position to ever play for the Canes....

Yet, I have never once heard his name come up in a discussion of our best ever QBs....Mostly because he wasn't....

Agree
However
Coker didn’t adjust the O to fit his style...and he couldn’t adjust to the Miami O

It’s a shame because that 03 defense was NC ready no doubt but the O **** the bed v tenn and I think Vt
Only good thing that year was beating fswho twice

It may be DJ Williams as the highest rated. And on Brock Berlin...I loved him here...Beat the gator and semenholes. Also both in a bowl game and was 5-0 against them. He led the 2003 team to a final #5 ranking and 2004 team final ranking of #11 with his final game beating the gator in bowl game. Still played in the NFL for a few seasons and NFL Europe. Got nothing but Love for Brock.

Berlin was awful. He was the original Malik Rosier.

He was handed a stacked team in 2003, and he threw 12 TD's & 17 INT's.

The 2003 team still went 11-2 and finished #5 because it was so stacked everywhere but QB. Decent QB play and we win the NC.

The guy struggled, but putting him in the same sentence as Rosier is a low blow.

Brock was highly productive at the end of his career. His senior year was a thing of beauty, he couldn't control the fact that he played with for some pretty awful offensive coaches. The problem was 1)He followed a guy that could have easily won 3 consecutive national titles in Dorsey, and 2)He happened to be the QB at the inflection point in regards to the program. Had Berlin transferred to what we would now call a true pass happy spread offense that worked out of the shotgun, he would have been outstanding. He was the kind of guy that needed to be playing at Purdue under Tiller. He was the kind of guy that needed to be playing somewhere where his strengths were magnified. He didn't choose that program. He chose a program that tried to make him a standard drop back passer, which he wasn't.

All the other tools were there for Berlin to be extremely good. He had the physical talent, and he was **** good mentally. Dude had no quit in him, guys were willing to put it on the line for him. We wasted Brock, and we saw that the shiny new QB isn't always better. Kyle looked like Tarzan, played like Jane.

DJ Williams and Brock Berlin were actually exactly tied in rating as recruits - .9998...both at #8 all-time...Both in the same Class of 2000....Both before modern portrait photography was invented....

I remember on this board when the Semenholes were checking the grassy board. One said, why cant we have an offensive of coordinator that has vision. 2000 game againt FSWHO, they praised Coach ****er for his playcalling. Utilizing every tool and not backin down. I remember, Richt was the offensive of coordinator for FSWHO.

DJ Williams

Even Madden himself said DJ Williams is the only recruit he’s ever seen that could’ve skipped college and gone straight to the NFL. Obviously, he needed a couple years in college but he was always a stud. I feel like Lingard is in the same boat. The last cane I felt like this about was Allen Bailey.

If Coker had played Berlin out of the shotgun in 2003, we win the NC. This was on Coker and not Berlin. Brock's comeback against the Gayturds was legendary and his 5-0 record against the Semenholes and Gayturds speaks for itself
Coker wouldn’t let Berlin play from the shotgun and never could find a spot for Devin Hester and all his speed. Just a lousy coach among the many lousy coaches we’ve had the past two decades.
