Brock Berlin as our QB...

LMFAO. Rosier makes Brock look like Tom Brady.

The revisionist history around Brock Berlin is amazing.

He was good in 2004 - but in 2003 he was Rosier on steroids.

Here's his 2003 game log

Brock Berlin had all the physical gifts in the world....He is still one of the top 10 all time highest rated recruits per 247....And, I believe, the highest rated prospect at any position to ever play for the Canes....

Yet, I have never once heard his name come up in a discussion of our best ever QBs....Mostly because he wasn't....

I loved Berlin but no NC. At Miami that kind of takes you off “best ever” list. He was not that good under center, which was our style. I expect he had trouble seeing defense as he dropped back. Had Coker thought to be innovative and adjust to the fact that he had probably the finest shot gun two minute drill QB there was, he would have made that our base offense and just ran the gun. If Brock was 19 today, every nfl team would already be planning to loss for the number one pick to get him. He came a little too early for all this spread/shot gun being used.

Agree
However
Coker didn’t adjust the O to fit his style...and he couldn’t adjust to the Miami O

It’s a shame because that 03 defense was NC ready no doubt but the O **** the bed v tenn and I think Vt
Only good thing that year was beating fswho twice
100% correct, Berlin spent all his H.S years in the shotgun, never mastered playing under center.
proof..... look at comeback vs Gators

It may be DJ Williams as the highest rated. And on Brock Berlin...I loved him here...Beat the gator and semenholes. Also both in a bowl game and was 5-0 against them. He led the 2003 team to a final #5 ranking and 2004 team final ranking of #11 with his final game beating the gator in bowl game. Still played in the NFL for a few seasons and NFL Europe. Got nothing but Love for Brock.

You got that right.

If you put the tape of Brock from his senior season in the machine, you'll see the kid could play. Won some big time games, and made some big time throws in clutch situations.

And Coker really screwed the pooch by not keeping the kid in the spread the whole game. That was the kid's mojo.

Brock is a true 'Cane and all right in my book!

been watching all the games on youtube, Man, that was a QB to me deserved more credit than shown.

Great QB out of the shot gun. It just shows how we have failed in that department. Even Kyle Wright showed how we have fallen.

Well when you watch highlights, of course Brock will look good.

Do me a favor and watch the 2003 Tennessee game, then get back to me about Brock.

Don't know if he was the finest 2 minute drill guy there was, but your point is well taken. Brock was "undercoached" by Coker and Werner. They were too in love with Frank Gore being in the I-formation, which, given Frank's amazing talent, I understand.

But the fact is, Brock was a lot better than they gave him credit for, particularly his senior year, and they didn't maximize that talent.

Yeah, and I can pick one game of every QB who ever lived that makes them look like the second coming of Ryan Leaf.

You're missing the point: the kid had skills, and poor coaching limited his success. His senior year he was a really good player, and you don't go 5-0 vs. FSU and UF in your career by sucking.

Berlin's first season was bad, and at times down right awful. The Tennessee game in '03, in particular, comes to mind.

He really turned it around his 2nd season though. Frankly, this program hasn't had a QB play at that high of a level since.

Berlin was awful. He was the original Malik Rosier.

He was handed a stacked team in 2003, and he threw 12 TD's & 17 INT's.

The 2003 team still went 11-2 and finished #5 because it was so stacked everywhere but QB. Decent QB play and we win the NC.

He single handily wasted our best d ever his Jr year. That year he made rosier look like Marino. God awful. That d gave up like 9ppg and he still couldn't not f it up. The VT game was one of the worst qb performances I've ever seen

Odd, I remember many a game trying to throw my shoe through the tv at the guy. I was shown to be more accurate with said shoe than he was hitting receivers.

The V Tech and Tennessee games still give me nightmares to this ****** day. Yeah he beat UF and FSU twice but he also cost us the national ****** title.

Kid threw one interception in the flat what seemed like every game. CB jumps the route pick six. That sticks in my mind.
