Bring me Mark Stoops

We can’t keep firing coaches every 3 years and expect to build a decent program. However, Manny needs to go. He has proven to be over his head and not HC material. Miami is a tough job because of the lack of success in the past 20 years. It’s a huge gamble for an experienced coach.

No. I am tired of being realistic. Reality for Miami football f*cking sucks. Please bring me Urban Meyer. No way he survives in Jax. Give him anything he wants. Tell him we want and need him more than any other program. You get to stay in Florida. Go all in. I will say this until Miami goes ahead and does the reality thing and hires somebody like Jedd Fisch

Have to shoot your shot for Meyer at least. I mean every coach that gets brought up, posters run in crying how they won’t come, so we may as well start at the top and work from there.

Aranda I starting to grab my attention more and more as a candidate the more I see Baylor
Yeah he’s creeping up for sure… I worry about his defense though he likes that 3/4 style and idk if we can get those type of bodies down here to succeed

Stop hiring coaches who can’t win more than 7 games a year and you wouldn’t have to.

Kentucky last drive to score last night solidified Stoops for me. I was already a big fan.

Those boys had nothing to play for but pride, and UGA was not releasing from their necks. And they drive down and scored.

Bring us that mentality
The thing is, no baggage like other names frequently mentioned here, better chance of being Okay'ed by the administration, coming from a good academic institution, not stranger to Miami football (coached DB's here), experience as a HC and good record for someone competing in the SEC against power houses of college football (second in SEC east).
The way he is doing now at Kentucky makes me think he will do much better at Miami.

What makes or breaks that scheme is the back 7. If we get a linebackers & db coach worth a **** then it can work here. It would help us in the d line immediately considering our depth at d end is awful right now. We'd need two starting caliber backers immediately from the portal for it to work IMO.

IMO, here is my top 5:

1. Mike Stoops - Coached here for a while so he knows what the job entails (on the other hand, maybe that is what keeps him from coming here lol). Solid coach, his teams play hard, are disciplined, and are well-coached. Questions I have - how well does he recruit, would he be able to get a quality OC?

2. Matt Campbell - Has made Iowa State into a solid program. Again, his teams play hard, are disciplined, and are well-coached. Questions - Would he want to come down here if he has already turned down overtures from the NY Jets last year (according to rumor)?

3. Hugh Freeze - Bright offensive mind, made Ole Miss develop enough to beat Bama, great recruiter. Questions - Would he be willing to move to the "big city"? If he had escorts on his contacts list in Ole Miss, what would he be like in South Beach? Would we be the first program to have a coach miss a game due to syphilis treatment?

4. Lane Kiffin - Another great offensive mind, learned under Saban, made FAU a force in their conference and has Ole Miss making noise. He has lived down here and seemed to enjoy his time here. Questions - can he field a championship caliber defense to go along with his offense? It is always interesting to see his quotes and actions in the press, but does that lead to a lack of discipline on the team itself?

5. Dave Aranda - Great defensive mind in his stints at Wisconsin and LSU. Baylor has looked great with him there as head coach as well. Questions - Is 2 years a big enough sample size to see his talents as a HC?

And of course, the big question for all these candidates, is Miami willing to pay the buyouts and salary needed to land any of these guys?

Agreed and if he can bring Jeff Grimes and his RVO offense with him, he is that much more attractive in my eyes.

Knowing the OC and DC that the potential HC candidates would bring with them is swaying my preference.

Kentucky is a better job than Miami. Stoops isn't coming.

Less pressure for sure and a place if you can do what he's done, you can ride it out for the rest of your career.

Is he content and happy? That is the very first question I would ask him. He makes it past that one, we would have a conversation.

There's nothing wrong with what he's doing. He's never going to win a national championship there, but he can field some solid teams. Again, is he content with that?

Make a bar for him in the locker room during half time too so he can get his thing on.

Respectfully disagree. The right coach can come to Miami and make it a much better job than Kentucky.

M Stoops will NEVER get enough talent to compete consistently with the big boys at Kentucky, but he would have have tons of talent to build a juggernaught in the ACC. This is the same reason why Lane would come here (if he came at all) because this job would put any solid HC in the position to dominate the ACC and go to the playoffs now and then.

Imagine Stoops coaching up J.Williams , A.Williams, Kinchens, Stevenson ( if he comes back) , C. Smith, and Couch…. Yikes

Just so you can get him out of your top 5, Campbell isn't leaving the midwest to rust belt area. If it isn't closer to Ohio, I wouldn't be shocked if he stays at ISU for a long time. Larry Kehres was his mentor, got him the gig at BG. He admired his commitment to Mt Union and Kehres turning down all kinds of d1 jobs. He wanted to be close to family always, Campbell shares that value.

Depends on what you want. If you want job security, where 8-9 wins a year is applauded, then you stay there. If you have goals of reaching higher, then you consider here. We aren’t close to what we were but we still have access to elite talent and an easy conference that gives a clear path to the playoff. He will never be better than a middle of the pack to above average SEC team at UK. Totally different expectation but also different possible outcomes.
