Brian Kelly says Lincoln Riley settled for too little

So Miami waited to save $2M, and it only cost $5-10M? That's some real executive stragedy...
Looking like the price for season tix may take a severe haircut...

That price is these guys will all be getting paid $10m + in 2027 to rehab their careers as analysts at Alabama while Nick Saban goes for his 10th national championship.

What’s really happening? TV deals are coming up. B1G is 2023. SEC & PAC 12 is 2024. CFP expansion is on the table around then as well. I think the expectation is there is a **** ton of money coming that will make the late years on these deals pretty affordable.
 
Non profit sport lol. Its worth it cuz the SEC west is a jungle and its kill or be killed. There is not a horrible team in there. Miss St used to be fodder and they will spring upsets with the Pírate. Kelly is a good coach. Im not sure if he is ready for those rabid rednecks. They are worse than us. People act like Miami fans are so bad. There are no worse fans than the SEC programs. They smoke coaches like a black and mild.
 
If your name ain't Bill Belichick, Nick Saban, or a distant 3rd Urban Meyer...you have no business getting more than 12 mil a year. Lsu just paid a heavy price to be third in the SEC.

No phuking way.!!! He has Saban, Jimbo, Kirby, and of right now Lane to deal with. This ain't ND who can schedule mediocre cupcakes. He's going to face 5 ranked conference teams every season and can't lose to more than 2 of them and that might not be good enough. The expectations are extremely high at LSU. It's the CFP and National Championships or bust.

I think Kelly is a good coach, but not a great one. He has feasted on mediocre teams in his run at ND. Very few signature wins against top 10 teams. Kelly is 3-8 against top 5 teams and has been beaten by more than 14 points in 5 of the 8 losses.

IMO, this is just a money grab. He was better off staying at ND and being a legend at that school with an easier path to the CFP. I guess he's hoping for an expanded CFP playoff where he can possibly get in with 2 losses, but I don't think he survives at LSU long enough to see that expanded CFP.

This all started because Michigan St didn't know how to act and gave Mel Tucker $95 million. A 12-7 career coach with one good season and he got $95 million. Naturally, a coach like Lincoln Riley or Kelly who has 10x the resume as him will get a lot more. Tucker set the market and the agents are cashing in.

Maybe 3rd. He'll have to compete with TAMU and Ole Miss for 3rd. Auburn won't be easy either. Quite frankly, Kelly is going to have a tough time not finishing in last place in the SEC West. There just isn't an easy game in that division with Arkansas, Miss St, and Auburn all improving.

That's 3 mil less than the best in the NFL, Bill Belichick.

To put that in perspective, that is MORE MONEY than every other NFL head coach.

It's f'ing insane.

Know what else, another better job than here just opened up. Will it affect us? Who knows, but whoever we look at, the price just went up again.
