I was told that the aeronautical program is one of the top-75 in the country. I believe that they have a wind tunnel, which sets them apart from other schools. It is supposedly an area of focus (top-3 on their agenda). They need capital to attract top professors in other engineering fields, though. People now wish to live in Miami, but salaries for engineering professors are currently exorbitant.
Medical Center seems to be "under control", though, buying that hospital was a mistake. In "the long run, the UM hospital will be a huge benefit", but in terms of management hours (i.e. Donors devoting professional time to rectifying the financial malaiase........) and sheer capital, they should not have acquired it when they did.
They do not seem too concerned about the football program. They are panicked about the law school.
