Kaaya might not even break the top 10 list of our all-time quarterbacks, but the slurping for him is unreal.
Dorsey, Gino, Vinny, Bernie, Walsh, Kelly, Erickson, Mira, ----- Harris, Berlin. I might even take SteveMo over him based on what I have seen from Kaaya so far. The quarterback touches the ball EVERY offensive play. He is the leader of the offense. The game is run through him. Let's call a spade a spade. He has already played 22 games (only 11 wins, 7 of which were meaningful). Where has he lead us? Until he can finish out games with wins, why shouldn't the criticism of him remain? He was 4-7 against quality opponents last year and is 3-4 so far this year. I have trouble slurping QBs that lose this much. Are we starting to see a trend?
The talk that he doesn't have an offensive line/running game only applies to this season. Last year, we were loaded on offense and the results were the same. Perhaps it may be directly linked to the poor coaching by Golden, Doritos, and Coley, but when I see his soft effort on the fumble play, and you look at his entire body of work, I just think this guy doesn't have the fire in him. If we replaced Kaaya with Gino, Vinny, Bernie, Kelly, or Dorsey, would they be 7-11 against quality opponents?
Next year we will find out a lot more about him with the new staff, but Kaaya should not be above criticism based on his performance so far.
