Big update from Herald

I don’t get this board? What would Tom Jurich bring to the university that Zo or Gino wouldn’t? You think Mario or Lane aren’t picking up the phone for Alonso or Gino? Would you rather have some second rate administrator like Nunez or the chubby fella for TTU?

Lol, experience and an actual successful track record of being an AD. Making great hires, raising a ridiculous amount of money and making great moves for UL when it comes to conference realignment as well as being the AD when the 2 cornerstone athletic programs (football and hoops) made a huge turnaround and became legit. That’s what he brings. Some of you all really underestimate the importance of a legit AD, clearly.

I want Zo here, but not as AD, no. Ya’ll arent tired of experimenting with guys in 1st time roles yet?

If you hire a player to run football, you cross all qualified ADs of the list. What AD wants to run everything BUT football.
Bingo.

Only one that we could leverage into that would be Jurich because he has baggage and his age.

I think Nunez is linked because he’s a Miami native and probably reached out when it came open obviously wanting to come home - he’s also a basketball guy with a playing and coaching background. He could handle that aspect. He hired a solid baseball coach at New Mexico also. He may not be as interested in being over football as most want to be

Went back and got more help to storm the Hecht if this happens..

Of all scenarios laid out here it seems that having Highsmith (over football) and Nunez (everything else) is the best option.

Wish we could just get 1 guy to do it all and do it all at a high level (Jurich)
This is dumb. Get one guy. This is a major D1 university, with a global brand. You’re telling me we couldn’t attract 1 competent candidate. Why not go after White from FAU? He’s up the road. Instead you go after some nobody with Miami ties from New Mexico. It’s because the administration is corrupt and they want puppets.

Best part is, 3/4 of this board will be on board with this and try to convince the rest that it’s okay. I can’t wait.
What do with Manny and his subsequent replacement if they do it is what i care about. Zo us highly qualified to fix the football program. Why should i care about a career AD who can only hopes he hires the right guy and pray for the best. Other teams have football people administrating football. Ohio St for example.

I'm so confused by this board. You all HATED Blake James but if we get Alonzo Highsmith or Gino Torretta you're done with the program and even more mad?

Alonzo has cut his teeth in the NFL and is very well respected. If he takes this job that means we are committed to winning and giving him every resource to do that.
There are more sports than football at Miami. And most of them are performing poorly.

‘The upper levels of the University of Miami football administration would like to hire an athletic director who understands the culture of Hurricanes football and is intimately familiar with the market, a source involved in the process said over the weekend. “That has narrowed the search to a fairly limited group.”’

WHY??
-WHY DOES THIS DUMB *** SCHOOL CONTINUE TO THINK THEY ARE DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF FOOTBALL??!!

-WTF R U NOT HIRING THE BEST, MOST QUALIFIED W/ TANGIBLE RESULTS??!!

-WHY IS JENN STRAWLEY’S NAME, WHO’S BEEN APART OF THIS FAILURE, EVEN REMOTELY CONNECTED TO ANY DECISION MAKING??!!

-WHY IN THE FCK IS AN AD WHO’S BEEN CONNECTED TO TITLE IX ISSUES & CURRENT SCHOOL SUCKS AT ALLLLLLLLLLL SPORTS BEING CONSIDERED???!!

-WHY DON’T MIAMI WANT TO BE GREAT IN ALL SPORTS? NOTICED HOW THEY DIDN’T MENTION CHHHHHIT ABOUT OUR ONCE PROUD BASEBALL PROGRAM!

-WHY IS THIS BEING LISTED AS “BIG NEWS?” THIS NEWS IS DEPRESSING AF!

This is also a way to bury Zo. He’s not going to have true power when it comes to decision making. He’ll report to that dork Nunez and probably quit after a few weeks.

The old AD and coach didn't want ZO, that tells me he wouldn't be a bad pick on that alone.

Torretta is actually a smart mother'fer, and is not just getting a look because he's a Miami guy. He knows the ultimate thing that drives a football program and he knows how to spot it, QB's. As you see with TVD a QB can overcome a lot.

An AD with Gino in a football role like ZO is not a bad thing, I'd rather see an outside hire, no ties but we could do a lot worse than ZO or Gino.

Unpopoular opinion but in this scenario... Zo &. Tony are the best option

Tony is a no because that’s just giving the old guard in the BOT some additional leverage with someone they’re familiar with. Rid this program of all they know. Start clean with outsiders.

Zo and Torretta - if one of them has to be an option - don’t factor into that rule because neither of them are going to bother with the old ways.
