Thanks for the thread. No matter the timing. Would be shocked if we don't see more pulling guards and toss plays tomorrow. Would also be shocked if we don't see the crossing routes we expected against UF. The two weeks gave us a lot of time to look back at the UF game and mark things to check for in the UNC game. So, we'll have a pretty good idea by the middle of the 2nd quarter.
But, something I would have been interested in your re-watch thoughts was the 2nd half Gator defense adjustments vs our counters. I thought we got scatterbrained with our approach. Probably because, and many including myself are guessing with this, it seems we really didn't expect our Tackles to completely collapse, as they did.
I thought the pulling guards worked against us with Florida’s speed. The De’s shot the gap the guard vacated and blew up some of those plays. Granted there was missed assignment with the offensive lineman taking the most exterior defender, but with how slowly many of our run plays develop, an unblocked linebacker could have done the same thing.
Those plays will probably go for big yards against our weaker, less athletic opponents, but get exposed against higher level competition.
I’m about to do a thread about the run game. Would appreciate your thoughts.
