Belated UF Analysis - Moving Forward (Offense)

66 plays for 301 yards. 4.56 YPP. 101st in the country. Scored 20 points. 101st in the country.

Mrs. Enos, I liked the hire of your husband. Especially when you consider the incompetence he was replacing. But his offense was nowhere near good enough last week. Sorry.

And I love the if's and but's around here. But but but....IF Mallory doesn't hold!! First of all, he held. Secondly, it was ON A FAKE FIELD GOAL BECAUSE THE OFFENSE GOT THE BALL ON THE GATOR 25 WITH A CHANCE TO ICE THE GAME AND RAN THE BALL 3 TIMES FOR 9 YARDS. Then, after the penalty, he ran 3 more plays for a total of 1 yard. First and 10 on your opponents 25, chance to step on their throat up 3 in the 4th quarter, and you run 6 plays for a total of 10 yards. Sorry ma'am, not gonna work around here.

He called a game to put us in a position to drop almost 30 points LOL. Why stop there? We almost scored 60 too. But we didn't. We scored 20. On barely 300 yards when holding the ball for 36 minutes. UF was absolutely awful on offense in that game. If they're remotely competent, the game is a 2-3 score win for them. They did everything they could to give us the game.....and give Miami's defense credit too. TWICE you get the ball deep in their territory in the 2nd half and you score 0 points. ZERO.

Mrs. Enos, please tell Dan that he needs to average more than 4.56 yards per play going forward. Mark Richt was a full yard better than that last year with an Arkansas St baseball player playing QB

And lmao at your stats and rankings.

If we opened with Savannah State and dropped 70 on them would that make our offense the best in the country?

Stats are only vaild when spread over a season, when the sample size has different strength of opponents factored in. Using them after one game is ridiculous.

Doesn't matter, I can't discuss things with anyone who goes the childish Mrs Enos route anyway.

Grow up a little man, it makes your more credible.

Trust me, we’re all rooting for your husband. We want him to succeed. But he leads a group that was at best bad and at worst horrendous in his only (albeit small) sample last week. He’s got another chance this week. The offense has to be a LOT better. It wasn’t nearly good enough to win last game and that was when also considering the gator offense was probably worse. Special teams and offense sucked last week. Same old story. Better be a lot better tomorrow or this season is over before it starts.

How exactly did he prove he's a high level OC ?- his Qb got sacked 10 times and he did absolutely nothing to help his true freshman LT
who was beaten like a red-headed step child all night long.

5 sacks were clearly on JW. Even with 10 sacks, you can CLEARLY see that our run game has SO much potential. Cam had a long run called back, he missed a huge draw run, and Deejay missed a clear sideline RN on a toss.

As a comparison, FSU gave up 6 sacks to Clemson in a 34-37(?) loss, under Jimbo, when they had a much more experienced OL, and Clemson’s Wilkins was a Frosh. Jimbo is clearly a good OC.

To your point, it was pretty **** bone-headed not to run more ACE, IMO.

And with enos, we started with a strong defense vs uf. He has shown that his offense gets stronger and stronger as the year goes on based on past offensives.

Reality bites hard.

Each year got worse at Ark. What year did you have in mind?
2015 and 2016 actually.

2017 the starting qb got hurt and was injured throughout the year and suffered a lack of talent compared to having guys like Alex Collins, jeremey sprinkle, Hunter Henry, that oline and others

was his worst Ark OL worse than this current OL (as of right now in this current point in time)

In 2016(?), they were down their top 6(?) WRs at one point at Arky- after losing their QB, TE, RB, and some OL to the draft. If you look at their 2015 offense, there’s no way you can come to the conclusion that his offense isn’t explosive enough. They scored 40-50 points quite a few times. If Arky had ANY defense in 2015, they would have been a 10/11 win team.

Nice breakdown. As an aside, the 2nd down play in the redzone on the first drive - the route he should have thrown to was Mallory in the EZ corner. Malloy was lined up on a DB and had the DB flatfooted when he made his break to the flag. I thought that would have been a better chance than the covered harley crosser.

I couldn't see that on the TV copy. Harley was NFL open with a good anticipation throw. Windows are smaller in the red zone so you have to speed up your process. The last thread I made was about red zone offense concerns so this wasn't a surprise.

Check out replay again - I only had tv view. Mallory was one on one with a flat footed safety. He had a bad game but I like that play

Thanks for the thread. No matter the timing. Would be shocked if we don't see more pulling guards and toss plays tomorrow. Would also be shocked if we don't see the crossing routes we expected against UF. The two weeks gave us a lot of time to look back at the UF game and mark things to check for in the UNC game. So, we'll have a pretty good idea by the middle of the 2nd quarter.

But, something I would have been interested in your re-watch thoughts was the 2nd half Gator defense adjustments vs our counters. I thought we got scatterbrained with our approach. Probably because, and many including myself are guessing with this, it seems we really didn't expect our Tackles to completely collapse, as they did.

Wouldn't your job as a coach be to do everything you can to ensure a win ? Don't think it was let them fight and see what happens.

Richt, we almost won... We were up 13-10 at the break and outplaying them the majority of the game, not to mention the answers we had when they scored. It was close enough to where the coaches didn't feel they needed to do anything drastic. Tough loss.
