Great for soccer. But a football field is considerably narrower than the average MLS soccer field. That puts the fans farther away from the field for football.Absolutely positively in favor of this and I hope Ross lets us out. 40K would be perfect, and for people that are not familiar with soccer stadiums they're very close to the field so the atmosphere would be insane at those games. It draws parallels to the Duke basketball games at Cameron Indoor where the students can practically touch players. (I'm obviously exaggerating that it would be that close) However close enough where the fans can seriously make an impact and the most promising thing about this is no more games where espn shows our stadium half empty with its skycam. Recruits take notice of things like that.
Agreed the only thing wrong with SLS is the field is too wide since it was build to soccer specification not baseball that was added after the stadium was build. SLS wants to remove the baseball sidelines and return it back to the original size and reduce the upper seats by adding bigger TVs and a roof. Ok, SLS is too large but Beckham's stadium even at 40K is way too small. Larger is better than smaller since UM can make more money and that is the only thing that counts. Making more money is the only way the Canes will ever get back to be a elite winning team and moving into a undersized stadium is going the wrong way.
