Barry Article On The Qbs

I don't think it's as clear cut as 1 side is to blame and 1 isnt. There is plenty of blame to go around. Coaches deserve a large chunk of it but the players deserve some too. Kosi and Weldon acted like fools and Jarren mailing it in isn't a good look at all.

I understand the whole he didn't get a fair shake argument but why is the solution to gain weight and stop working? He's a true freshman, just put the work in and make yourself into the best player that you can. Make it to where they have to start you or transfer out but just sitting around partying is hurting yourself as much, if not more then it is the team.

I'm kind of surprised so many are defending a potential starting QB that essentially gave up abd punted on his true freshman season. I need my QB to be a leader. Now I'm confident Enos can turn him around but he's gotta want it and his actions this past season concern me.

Don't let your hate for the Richts cloud your judgement. If you want to say they should have never been recruited then fine but white knighting for their actions last year doesn't make a lot of sense IMO.

Hopefully Tathan's waiver is approved.

Martell doesn't get a pass either. The way He left OSU wasn't a good look...let's not act like He wasn't trying to undermine Day's recruitment of Fields when He sent out those desperate tweets...tells me a lot about His character.

I mean every QB in the room had maturity issues and MFers think the QB coach and the HC isn't the root of the issue....of course they are.
Now watch how they suddenly mature and play well. Then the same mongoloids will try to credit Rickety for signing them. Every QB on this roster is capable of playing well at this level if coaches and prepared properly.

This tells me you might need counseling.

You'd gathered all personality characteristics from Tate Martell over a tweet in which I took as he meant for himself and not Fields.

Unbelievable.

How do you know?

Yup!

He's a crybaby, same way Williams is a "punk" to some because He was disgruntled with where He was on the depth chart.

And there was nothing vague or self aggrandizing about Martell's tweets at the time, those tweets were aimed directly at Fields.

Yup!

My brain can handle the cognitive dissonance associated with claiming that Rick and Rick Jr shopped for and bought the groceries that ended up giving us a **** QB casserole last year.....while also understanding that those ingredients absolutely comported themselves as ****......despite any issues they may have had with the offense. All parties involved were garbage and can't use each other as the excuse for their ****tiness on this front.

I'm kewl with the blank slate model Manny has implemented but none of us should be carrying any water or running with any positive narratives about 3 kids that were content upon repeatedly effing up off the field last year and 1 in N'Kushi that was content upon effing up on the field too.

so I got a question, is it the coaches responsibility to have you prepared or your own ? like I get it your coach has to put you in the right position but you as a player, shoot forget that as the University of Miami's QB have to take that in your own hands yes coach gonna give you the material but you have to build off that. not being able to pick up a simple blitz that's not on CMR that's on perry not studying. He simply didn't make the most of his opportunity. Yeah playing calling and what not made it even worse but as a player your job is to study and be ready.
When I say it was Richts like of accountability, I meant if Nkosi didn't do what is necessary pun him. You can't treat all players there same

This program has been plagued by locker room issues for years! I believe it was Roscoe that left early to be a 4th round pick, and that set a tone that kids were here for one thing and one thing only. Themselves, and getting themselves to the league as fast as possible. But what has been lost is the work it takes, the success that was build by those players ahead of them that gives them the exposure they have. The U has suffered way more than any of the egos we had to deal with that never actually WON anything.

How many other teams have kids leave early to be UDFAs or 7th rounders? I really dont know, but that type of mindset is killing this program. And it has somehow lasted through like 4 regimes. Coker, Randy, Golden, Richt and we still have diva problems in these locker rooms. I said it when Richt retired and when we fired Golden, we need a disciplinarian HC. Hopefully that becomes Manny. And I dont mean, like hard *** on the kids about things like social media, I mean, if you miss meetings or lifting sessions, I am all over you. If your not doing the Football work you need to be doing then you are either gone or not on the field. As long as we have QBs who are not the leaders of our team we will continue to struggle.

When was the last time the leader of our team was both, a social leader and the locker room/training leader at QB? Dorsey? Berlin? Jacory? I think it was Dorsey, players talked a lot about how much they would meet with him to throw, he was known as a complete book worm of the game of football. And he was these things amongst rooms full of alpha studs. We need a student of the game. And IMO its Martell. I will be completely surprised if he is not the starter so long as he gets cleared. Those others are hot garbage! Though I would hope Williams would stay around if he gets beat. But I am sure Nkosi would bolt or FIU or FAU maybe Marshall. I highly doubt any major program would take him.
May be that the 4 coaches you cited were not leaders of men is why we had so many divas. As for some players seemingly leaving early, maybe they felt it was best to get out while the gettin' was good. Another year under the coaches they were being "coached" by wouldn't have benefitted them any more.

I bet we can portal up their replacements!
The portal is not an automatic answer to all the depth woes that we have had for 10 years. There are no guaranteed replacements waiting just to jump in. We cannot depend on "portal up replacements".

I don’t hate Richt as much as many on this site but I have to admit the culture inside the QB room as well as the state of future QB commits under Richt is pretty damning... I think these comments by Diaz about the QB’s and also what was happening in the WR room are very telling. I am SO glad Manny recognized the importance of leadership that was lacking and addressed it. Picking up leaders in Martell & Matocha in the QB room and KJ Osborn in the WR room will greatly impact the Qb’s and WR on the roster and the offense as a whole. Diaz seems to get it and I hope he is the is the “Miami” coach we’ve all been waiting for!

So, Coach Richt "knew what he was doing" yet these are the three hand-picked he left us with at quarterback?

Sounds to me like he should send a note to James Coley and Al Golden and thank them for signing Malik Rosier.

Stay tuned for this year!
