Banner For Cook This Weekend At His Game

It is an violation and we can't do it. Fans can not help recruit players. Twitter is really making this hard to control but a banner is pretty easy to control. Someone from UM tweeted this out last year when we were recruiting Alex Collins.

Andrew,

Thanks for addressing the concern. When I put the post that it could be a possible violation, and we should check beforehand, I knew there was an incident that happened that prompted it. It was the Collins incident. Everyone was thinking I was being debbie downer, but I was really concerned we may be creating a problem.

Appreciate it.

Ok, but it's kind of hard to "return" 6 hookers.

Wish you posted this sooner.

Hooks are cool, we clearly skate when those are involved.

all i'm saying is it'd be hard to find the 2 guys who just attach a banner to a fence and go after them and UM. by the time the banner was up, whoever put it up would be sitting in the stands and no one would even know.
ncaa can't go after UM for that.
and please, fans are "helping" recruit players all day long.

A few fans can go to the game, sit in the stands and carry signs asking him to come to Miami. I don't think there is an issue with that as long as it is done on an individual basis and by someone who is not directly involved with the school or the act being an organized effort by boosters.

Fans ask recruits to join their schools all the time on twitter and other forums. Having a low visibility sign during the game by individuals is not a big deal in my opinion.

DGhustla, we will agree to disagree. Still cant understand why hate on the cats that want to do it. Somebody on here secretly hack into your bank account and make you put money in? Just dont put ya money up playa and keep it moving. But you sound like the biggest playa hata right now trashin cats who want to do something positive. Too each his own.

People overuse the term "hating". It's not hating to suggest that an idea is silly when you are ALREADY a BIG TIME PROGRAM. We are not Arkansas, we don't need to fly a banner to get a recruit's attention. We have a 5 star OL visiting here next month, should we fly a banner for him too?

What people don't understand is Cook has two teammates going to the U. A brother at the U. A mother, father, and grandmother that live in Miami, but he is going to suddenly go to Miami because fans that he doesn't even know are flying a banner. How lame does that sound?

Brother NO ONE is claiming that the banner would be a clincher, any kind of significant impact, or that it would work AT ALL. The idea is, that IF the kid is really torn, and its a 50/50 type proposition at the 11th hour, and any little thing can help tip the odds, THEN, maybe a banner like that, COULD help tip things in our favor a bit. Just giving him some positive vibe from the U, making him feel like the community is rallying around him to come, etc. In the end, it will likely amount to NOTHING, BUT.... there really is nothing to lose by doing it. Its not like hes going to be OFFENDED by something like that.

DJ Williams claimed, and who knows if it was true, that he was torn, and on signing day, his final decision came down to where he felt like having Breakfast. McDonalds, or BK. Point being, that you never know what a kid might see as a "sign", or what might make them feel good, or help push the ball down the field. Especially if we already have positive momentum.

Again, SEC schools send those female hosts to recruits games to fawn all over them. So its not like this is some alien concept. Im not saying this is some kind of great plan that is going to have any kind of results. But I dont see how it can hurt, and it CAN POTENTIALLY, tip things in our favor, if only the slightest bit. But maybe that's all we will need. You never know.

The kid is already torn. He has Lane and that crew talking to him about Gainesville. He has Freeman and that crew talking to him about FSU. He has his entire family, and teammates talking to him about the U.

All those people have a personal relationship with him. Here are all the people pushing him to the U.

1. Mother
2. Father
3. Grandmother
4. Brother
5. Teammates
6. Al Golden
7. James Coley
8. Hurlie Brown
9. Whomever is his hostess, and whatever entertainment they have set up for him that weekend.

That is nine different people who have an opportunity to sway him to the U. If they can't get it done, then it's probably not getting done.

We could also bake him a Cake. From his friends at CIS.

Don't do it RT @UCompliance: Fans, going to games to "recruit" prospects to join UM is a violation. Leave the recruiting to our coaches.

Edit: UCompliance ‏@UCompliance 7m

Booster status is not limited to people who donate money to UM. If you go to UM games, went to UM, etc., you're still a booster.
