Bama v UGA

As they say, kids commit to schools, not coaches as coaches don't always stick around. Kirby Smart? If he wins a championship, NFL will come knocking. Then what? Uncertainty. Kids looking at Oklahoma? Bank on Riley not being there either. The U still offers a unique experience, especially come December when people are freezing their balls off in Athens.

Ya, but there also is a good chance Flake keeps Richt around and Haselwood would have wasted his career at UM.

Incredible how much more stout our run game got after Kool despite losing 3/4 of our starting DL. Now look at Bamas run game. Took a step back this year as well and they’re always the best regardless of who they bring back or lose. Coincidence?

Nah. UGA ran over Bama in the National Championship too. Bama lost guys as well.

Thats not going to happen. Kirby is going to win a NC within a few years and they are going to become a powerhouse, but people will still talk about how Richt is the better coach.

Some NFL team will offer Kirby 11 mil a year if he wins a championship. Gruden was out of football for what seems like a decade and got 10 mil. Wouldn't start printing up those Dawg Dynasty shirts quite yet.

But when the Bulldogs play a team that’s really good, the most you can reasonably hope for is that they keep it close. This defeatist mindset comes from years of watching Georgia get blown out in big games. Richt is part of that tradition: He is 12–15 all-time against higher-ranked teams. Contrast that to Alabama coach Nick Saban. He’s made a career of pulling off upsets, including the time his Crimson Tide defeated the third-ranked Bulldogs, 41–30, in 2008.
...
Hynes has wondered about the depths of Richt’s desire, and a couple of years ago, he asked the coach about it: Would you feel like a failure if you didn’t win a national championship?

“He looked at me like I’m an idiot,” Hynes recalls. “He said, ‘Come on, Chap, my identity is not in being a national championship football coach. My identity is in Christ. Do I want to win one? Yes. Is that going to define me as a person? No.’”

And there you have it.

Richt is such a *****. Holy **** that quote...

I said it once and I'm going to say it again... Kirby Smart will surpass EVERYTHING Richt did in his 15 years at Georgia in just 5 years.

At this point, anyone who honestly believes Richt is a better coach than Kirby is either a troll or on the spectrum.

Ya, but the thing is any relatively competent coach could clean up at UGA. Kirby is not some football savant. UGA is the 4th most talented football state. They have no instate competition for recruits. Tons of bagmen and boosters. Even Richt was able to manage 10 wins a season and he sucks.
