Bama Front

"Thoughts... I have to start again by saying EVERYBODY agrees that the defense is ahead and really good. I want say today that this is the best defensive team Saban has ever had but I will say it is the most talented and deepest going into the season.

The Truth... Will Anderson dominated when he was in there. To'oto'o and Harris started and looked great with both having some hard hits on the RBs. The hit of the day was Brian Branch destroyed Jase on the sideline and had to sit out the rest of practice. The second biggest hit was Khyree Jackson on Holden. The players say Khyree is a head hunter and plays with an edge.

The Truth... Battle played great as usual. DeMarco was out and most likely will miss first game. Branch played in his spot until he went out then Wright came in. Mathis and Young both played really well as did most of DL. The 1 defense gave up very few yards rushing to 2 offense. The 1 offense did have some good runs and moved the ball on the ground against the 2 defense which is really good.

The Truth... Marcus Banks had two interceptions. One on Bryce in situational and one on Jalen in scrimmage. Drew Sanders playing for Allen who sat out, had the best INT of the day in 7X7 when Bryce tried to hit Latu and Drew when up and took it in 1 on 1 coverage. Dallas Turner had an interception in situational off Paul.

The Truth... In scrimmage the number 1 offense went against the number 2 defense then the 2 offense went against the 1 defense. In situational ones against ones

The Truth... OL was much different with Randolph, Ekiyor, George, and Dalcourt all sat out. From left to right first group was Neal, Cohen, Owens, Brown, Latham then second team was T Brockermeyer, Kight, McLaughlin, Bowles, Quick.

The truth... Bryce had a solid day running the ones. He was approximately 21-33 for 200 yards with two TDs. In scrimmage part he had 5 possessions and scored twice on TD passes to Metchie (80 yards) and Jase (4 yards). In scrimmage part Bryce was 6-10 for 110 yards with 2 TDs and no INT and made 7 first downs. Paul also had a solid day running the twos. He was approximately 10-13 for 130 yards. In scrimmage part he had 4 possessions and scored once on TD pass to Jameson Williams (55 yards). In scrimmage part Paul was 9-10 for 120 yards with 1 TD and no INT and made 5 first downs. Jalen got 4 possessions with the twos and did not score. He was 0-4 passing with an interception and made one first down. He was 3-8 overall for 35 yards. The ones led by Bryce got most the work in situational and had some good plays against the 1 defense. Bryce looks ready for the first game and everybody expects him to play well.

The Truth... All 4 RBs that played ran well. Trey had another great day and is back. Brob will start but have some good ones behind him. Jase and Roydell are very good too. Jase scored on catch in scrimmage. BRob and Roydell scored in short yardage situational."
So Bryce threw 2 INTs but then apparently threw 0 INTs? That's Bama math for you, that inbreeding is slowly taking its toll.

Think about it.

If Miami opens with (likely) an up-tempo high-play-count attack AND goes 3 and out (we've never seen that again, and again, and again from Miami's O) with the way rules are slanted, Bamas O is going to run wilding because our Canes' D will be on the field all **** day.

It all comes down to the trenches.

Miami's O absolutely MUST stay on the field and keep the ball away from the Tide's O.
yas SU! 100% this

been saying it for a while even on the recruitment threads. OL is the missing link to get us to elite level for reasons like you said. saw some lights after D$ and CRIB reports of improvement. We need that improvement to be huge comes sep 4th and no injuries or we will fail to belong in the same field

Don't they say every year "... THIS is the best Defense/Offense Saban has put together in Tuscaloosa... "

Exactly! lol.

I am thinking their defense will be somewhat like what we ran up against when we played LSU in 2018 in the season opener. That defense was **** good but it was beatable we just had the 2nd worst offense in the modern Cane era that year. Lashlee has seen enough Bama defenses in his time to know what he is up against. I trust him and King to hold their own.

Their defense will absolutely look better in practice when they are not going up against an offense that had 4 first round picks on it like they did last camp season. No brainer that their defense took a step up and the offense took a step back. Question is..how far of a step back did their offense take and can we capitalize on that?

Go look at Neal and those guys and then our DL, they have a big size advantage. Btw 10-15 pounds per guy is a noticeable difference.
Our DT’s will look the part. McCloud will probably look a little light in the *** & I don’t know what Johnson looks like tbh.

That guy is going to an issue. Not sure any of the guys we have at DE cant set the edge or get preasure from his side. Hope we can.

I've said all year that, imo, Bama will take a step back on offense this year (especially early) but will take a step forward on defense.

Last year, they gave up 3.33 YPC. 13th best in the country. And even a little more impressive since they were 33rd in the country in sacks, which come off rushing totals. So on pure runs, they were probably even better than a few teams ahead of them in YPC allowed.

And as much as I hate running the football overall, we know Lashlee believes in it, and in order for us to have success on offense, we're going to have to average more than 3 yards a carry. UGA got em for 4.83 a carry last year. Ole Miss got em for 4.70. If we can approach those numbers, we can have success on offense. And IMO if we have success on offense, this game will be close because I really don't see how they drop 50 points on our defense with all the personnel and coaching turnover they've had. I think if we can push 30 points, we will have a shot in the 4th quarter, which is all we can really hope for.

If we average 3+ a carry we are going to be in great shape and will have a legit chance at winning IMO. Million dollar question if we will be able too.

I don’t follow Alabama at all, because they are pretty much everything that’s wrong with college football. So I don’t know **** about them as I haven’t seen them play hardly at all for many years.

I did watch them in the championship game last year though, and holy **** are we ****ed.

They had one dude on the DL named Christian Barmore I think, that man was a god**** monster but I believe he was a senior so he won’t be back. Thank God for that at least.

This is the matchup that concerns me the most , their front versus our ol. Tbh both trenches do , we’re smallish on the dl versus their huge ol. But the tackles are out strength. De might be an issue in this matchup. We’ll find out really fast what kind of day it’ll be.
Is this different than when we played ND and their hulking OL? Is getting our DTs to penetrate the gaps like that game a key to neutralize their OL?

I researched a quick version of their playoff games just to get an idea of what they ran on off/def and the offense was able to just dominate because smith and Harris were making inhumane plays. They're heavy into rpo with short passes to the outside mixed in with passes over the middle. They don't run much outside the tackles. Our dbs are going to have to get off those we blocks and eliminate yac. Linebackers can't get sucked in on those rpo passes over the middle. They will not have a player like smith or Harris on offense and the oline while talented is nowhere near as good. The only spot on offense that's better than last year is tight end of billingsly is playing.

Excellent point in line play , spot on clog the allies they WILL try to establish the run .

LB slamming hard to fill gaps HARD SLAMMING.

Our DB are solid and can play man and we can break off and switch as they try crossing patterns we have to back field to do this.

Bolden will the PUNISHER off plays .

Brother we MUST take the FIGHT to BAMA attack FIRST with malicious INTENT we will NOT go quietly into the night WE ARE CANES WE ARE HERE SND READY FOR A STREET FIGHT.

WE DON’T GIVE A HOOT!!!!

BROTHER, I always want to defer I cannot abandon it in this game I want blood and to get blood I need my D to stickem hard cram it shove it in ferociously and snap it off make them PUNT or a turn over.

I fear no man and definitely not BAMA.

KICK IT
