B/R 2027 Early Mock Draft

Cam being a bust right now likely gives teams pause with Mensah overall #1 but I just don’t see why any QB would be ahead at this point. Mestemaker sure I guess because he has the huge frame but man I’d be worried taking him 1 overall 😂
Cam really needs to lock in this ******* season. That INT in the end zone vs Giants to seal the game was ******* disgusting.

I personally do not think it is that crazy. He would be making more money than most rookie QBs. He would be the big man on campus, popular and beloved and the ultimate favorite to win awards and championships. He would be the King of South Florida and could arguably be the best QB in Miami history and could very well be the best QB in college athletics ever.

Why would he leave all of that to play on a crapppy team like the Jets or Dolphins?

He's been bad. And the fact that he's been bad and does the nonchalant ****, makes him look stupid
Yeah I know it’s his style but when you’re first and goal with 2 timeouts you don’t need to do a nonchalant throw. Plant your feet and delivery a good ball for sake. I didn’t see post game interview but I’m curious what he was seeing that play.

ESPN can't even deny what we are all seeing.

I was listening to a fantasy pod and they said when they were reviewing the game film, Carnell Tate has been wide open. Especially down field. I don't think Cam has hit a throw over 20 yards yet.

Not sure if it's fair to call him that, look at this team lol. His nonchalant gimmick does get annoying though, didn't like it too much while he was here. He needs a line to give him time. Hoping he can turn it around though.

Not hating and Scott and Moten cause they both been good. But i thought they were gonna take a huge step and be elite. Haven’t seen it yet but there’s still time

I love Cam but he’s been terrible. I get it the team is whatever but this year the OL has been fine. Every yard is painful to watch. I hope it changes but we are heading for him being done at the end of the year if it continues.

Drew Mestemaker ranked the top quarterback prospect @ 11 overall. Seems like wish-casting extravaganza as draftniks ignore Chambliss and Mensah in favor of potential ‘28 quarterbacks have taken root. All reports on Drew dating back to the summer suggest there are no scenarios where he leaves school after this season.

It isn't necessarily wish-casting if you're projecting guys to the next level.

We know what Mensah can do and we are lucky to have him. That said, I think the debate intensifies when people conflate college accomplishments with ability. If Mestamaker were on LSU and Miami-type teams he'd be putting up better stats and I think that would close the gap in a lot of people's eyes. He has physical traits Mensah and Chamblis don't, and draftniks may believe his ceiling is higher over time.

The NFL or professional scout must/should control for the surrounding talent and team-related accomplishment variables to measure fit and project each player to an NFL environment. This is where you have to understand the position being evaluated and what's necessary to be successful at the next level. Then you get into the personality traits (like character, work-ethic, coachability, etc..) that can negate what your objective talent-analysis says about a player.

I am by means no expert, but have followed sports long enough to understand why draft-boards may seem to mis-rank players.

I’m a fan of mestemaker. He’s put up incredible numbers already as he lead FBS in passing last year. Eric Morris is the best qb evaluator/developer in the world as far as I’m concerned.

The sentences you didn’t not bold were literally why I said it’s wish-casting. Additionally, this was Jordan Reid’s top 5 in June:

Reid's top five

1. Arch Manning, Texas
2. Dante Moore, Oregon
3. Darian Mensah, Miami
4. CJ Carr, Notre Dame
5. Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State

Given what’s transpired this season, his list makes no sense to me given his own criteria of where it just was. Even his description of mestemaker’s running threat feels like wishcasting based on the Oregon vs OKState game.

Hes ran for 50+ yards twice outta 22 games. He had more rushing yards against Oregon than he had the whole 2025 season. Hes a former safety so obviously hes athletic, yet, running doesn’t seem to be apart of his game outside of select, special occasions.

He still put Mensah and Chambliss in the teens, which is a mid-first round grade. He’s hesitating on the inevitable because it sharply contradicts with his priors which he still clings to given Moore/Manning’s seasons have done less to harm selves than others.

Mestemaker has played four games and the only team he didn’t throw an INT against was a FCS one. I’m just saying his Tulsa game was heavily ignored and what other qb prospect would be able to brush off that L & RISE up draft boards after 2 other p4 games? Seems a bit much. If mestemaker was that guy for him, he should’ve been that guy for him since the jump.

Not just Mensah and chambliss, I’d say the same applies to Carr as well versus Mestemaker/Moore/Manning. Manning and Moore have more or less shown more of the same from the where they left off.

I'm a fan of Mestamaker as well; I hope he doesn't leave and realizes a year at Miami could make him #1 overall.

Analyst draft rankings can be more subjective and differ from team draft boards; there's an art to all of it and then at the end, sometimes, there's just a poorly articulated conviction about what you believe about a player. I think Mendoza (#1) and Simpson (#13) are perfect examples in the last draft.

I believe Mestamaker's ceiling (vs where he is now) leaves tremendous room for development, while I don't believe the same can be said about Mensah and Chamblis; for all intents and purposes, you see what they are and know what they are going to be. I don't believe either, as individual talents, have a higher ceiling than Mastamaker, and I think this is where the explanation for his ranking (and possibly others) may fall apart.

Some people arrive a little late to the party and can't really tell you how they got there.
