Assuming the offense is fixed.. what about the D?

It was just one bad call. Holy **** you guys take one bad play call and want a **** coach fired for it. The defense was the only reason we were in that North Carolina game to begin with. Same with the UF Game.
Do you watch Miami games? One bad call? We all expected that conversion. Spoiler: Not a lucky guess

I don't want a coach fired for one call. I want coaches replaced bc I think we are out-coached most games.

Defense is fine. It's been anywhere from a top 10 to a top 20 unit since Manny has been here. Yes, it's not as good as Clemson or UGA, but we don't have and are never going to have the overall talent and depth they do. Relative to the talent, Diaz's defenses have done quite well

If the offense wasn't a complete abomination, nobody would say a bad word about the D. It's difficult to be elite when you have to be on the field 2/3 of the game and have to almost shut out other teams to have a chance.

If we had a top 10-20 offense to go with our defense, we'd be a playoff contender.

The defense will do what it’s done for 90% or more of our games over the last four years, put us in a position to win with any reasonable offensive output.
And lose it when we need a stop the most. Point of my thread. Don't disagree with you though.

One thing people commonly bring up with lashlee and his spread offense is the concern the defense will be left out on the field more. News flash that has been the case for Miami teams for years as we have been horrible in converting 3rd downs and staying on the field. If anything it helps keep them off the field because lashlee will also make sure the ground game is churning too

This is an area of concern for me. When was the last time we had both sides of the ball even upper third of FBS at the same time? We assuming the offence takes a big leap...but on D
We have got maybe the best DE duo in the country, but question marks and/or depth issues at CB, DT, S and unproven LB (but hey they are more athletic blah blah blah). It could all be ok, but I am nervous. Greg and Roche might be enough to cover some deficiencies, but the offence will hopefully carry this team this year.
It is time for the Amari Carter’s, Zac McCloud’s and Gilbert Frierson’s of the team to step up as quality starters

Defensive line should be better. We return everyone at DT and the young guys will have more experience.

Same argument that UCF should play for a NC because they couldn't control their schedule. All things have to be considered.

How? We are not debating the defense was national championship caliber.

We are definitely not out coached most games on defense. Our defense is the only reason we didn't go 3-9 last year
We were definitely outcoached against GT and VT, which is just unacceptable. If Manny demands a culture change and a culture of excellency then he needs to be holding his assistants accountable for games like those. UM is also a really poor reckling team, that is one thing they need to fix and it would even make the defense extremely better. I dont know if poor tackling is do to recruiting or coaching but Manny needs to find out.

Our corners are average as ****.

Out interior line still has no superstar although Jordan Miller can be that guy.

We breaking in new LBs with more speed but do you trust that they will be coached up? Remember Shaq and Pink were slow but they came ready made with instincts that I'm not sure this group has.

Baker and Manny still have a propensity to give up yardage and scores at the worst times.

Add to all that the fact that tempo offenses hurt their team's defense by giving the opponent more snaps and time of possession.

Still a glaring coaching deficiency on defensive side of the ball. No changes?

King & Co aren't much good to us on the bench. (see 3rd down D)

Frasier Crane - I'm listening.

Dude why do you have a picture of an orange raccoon for your avatar?

I'm saying you have to consider all factors when looking at the bigger picture. (UCF would lose 3+ games in the SEC. Miami wouldn't be Top 15 with a tougher schedule, etc).

We have been giving teams more offensive snaps by going 3 and out on all of these drives the majority of times in games.

That's comes down to recruiting, the defensive staff is pretty good at the scheme, but are severly lacking in the recruiting department.
