Why not reschedule for Thursday or Friday?

Puts us at a disadvantage. Logistically I think it could have worked but pushing the game up one day on such short notice would give AssState an unfair advantage.

This isn't just a regular hurricane, it's a biblical, wrath of god type storm. One of all time most powerful ever recorded. Might make Andrew feel like a warm breezy day. School should certainly try to help all students' (not just football players) families find shelter. People should have started prepping a couple days ago - players might want to be helping friends and family board up houses or get supplies. No chance they would be focused on football. You really want to see what happens when a young, unfocused, distracted team that didn't spend time in the film room plays a decent AK State team on the road?

The team is CHOOSING to give up practice time and a tune-up game. We'll see how it works out for them.

Practices for this week are cancelled and nothing is being schedule until Irma is over.

They could have been in Atlanta practicing.

Sounds plausible. A spur of the moment decision to move 150 people to Georgia for a week.

Yes. It's very important for a child to stay in the potential path of a storm instead of evacuating to Arkansas. It's much safer to keep the child in the potential path of the storm so he can be unsafe.

So, basically what you are saying is that playing a football game in more important than the players families.

I'm going to find a 5 year old and tape him to ny front door to ward off Irma if you can convince me why it's best to have a kid stay in the potential path of the storm instead of evacuating to Arkansas.

An 18, 19, 20 year old young man might be the only "man" in his family. I think of at least one family I know whose home was destroyed in Andrew. I think his wife and kid would have been far worse off had he not been there during and after the storm.

I think one of our Louisiana kids, Akeem Jolla, left the program after Andrew to live with his displaced family. He apparently felt he had family responsibilities that were very important. (I acknowledge he was a 5 star disappointment, also, so maybe there was little resistance to his leaving.)

As I recall, his family was relocated to New Mexico after Katrina and he transferred to New Mexico State.

Wilma was a stronger hurricane.

This one, if it makes landfall in Florida at all, is supposed to be downgraded to a CAT 4 by the time that happens.

Category 4 is still a heck of a storm.

We lose a full day of preparation.

The schedule is Monday off, practice Tuesday, practice Wednesday, practice Thursday, travel Friday, play Saturday. We lose a full day of preparation by agreeing to play. UCF and Memphis agreed to move their game up to Friday but that's a conference game and it's in their best interest to play. We clearly were happy to capitalize on this scenario...I won't deny that. But to fly out there early and be hasty about this with the looming threat of everything back home getting wiped out the next day (with the potential of being stranded in Arkansas) made this an easy decision.
