Well if we are dependent on recruits that expect to not get punished for excepting illegal benefits while the school is under NCAA probation...
Just go ahead and shut down the program.

U can't be this dense. Recruits care about winning, first....but these are also kids, kids who can and will make mistakes. They want to know if a school will go to bat for them if they make mistakes. What just happened, for some darn rental cars is utterly ridiculous. 4-5 game suspension, fine...but when u got kids at other schools caught w weed, stealing crab legs, caught with illegal firearms, punching females and they still able to play on Saturdays after being suspended a couple of games, come on dog, this is bogus! Like Miami, GROW A PAIR OF NIZZUTS!! The NCAA is on their last legs, and the last thing they want is more skeletons brought out their closet. The aforementioned scenarios could easily be brought to their attention if they wanted to go down that road. I'm just tired of the school I bleed for continue to get screwed by not having some nuts.

Idiot.
You obviously don't care about the University of Miami football program.
You obviously don't care about the future of the University of Miami football program.
You obviously don't care about educating yourself as to what is or isn't a NCAA violation proven by your example violations (little hint...none are actual NCAA violations)
On the other hand you do seem to care about talking out of your *** about what or whom UM went to bat for.
You do seem to seem to care about talking out of your *** about what punishmet is acceptable and what that punishment will or won't do to UM's future as far as the NCAA is concerned.
You do seem to to care about talking out of your *** about the condition of the NCAA.

So grow a pair...educate yourself....and maybe start caring about the program more than the stupidity of Grace and AQM.

Usually, I would ether you to oblivion, but my guy, ur not worth my time.

I'll just say this, unless you've been recruited, had a family member who's been recruited, you shouldn't respond. You're taking my post way out of context, so it's not I who needs to educate themselves, that would fall upon you, buddy ole chum.

My loyalty is not w any player, never has been. My loyalty is with the University of Miami, always has been. However, just b/c my loyalty is w the school, does not make me a homer. It does not make me blind to poor decisions this school has made. This school is shook from the NCAA scandal, and I get that...but to dismiss kids for a $400 tab on a rental car...yeah you can "obviously" me to oblivion, it's not going to change my mind that it's an over exaggerated penalty, that can send a wrong message to a top recruit.

You are obviously blind to the fact that the only poor decision here was made by Grace and AQM.

It's as simple as this: An arrest for a gun or weed doesn't involve your eligibility or amateur status. Taking impermissible benefits means you lose your amateur status and become ineligible.

Franchise if this is true about the amateur status how the **** is Juwon young playing for Marshall?? His amateur status should be gone right? Something stinks here

Juwon may not have been the worst offender when it comes to dollar amount, but he just probably lied like crazy and they caught him on it.

That's just my guess.

Doubt it from what I've seen young drive multiple times before

Lol... Dude used to drive a white Range Rover all the time on campus

No he didn't. Juwon always drove around in a metallic orange Rover Sport.

Gotta call bull****...

Simply because, if they dismissed two players for $400 worth of illegal benefits, and for initially being 'less than truthful', then they should fold up shop on their joke of an athletic department and stop wasting fans' money and recruits' careers.

Don't say that out loud or Torocane will "obviously" let you know you're not a true All-American Hurricane fan.

No....I just don't try to excuse two players that tried to hurt the program.
I also don't talk out of my *** about what the school not going to bat for the players or what punishment was acceptable or not.
Two things you obviously tried to do.

UM's probation from the Shapiro **** doesn't end until Oct 1. I imagine it has something to do with the short fuse. Haven't seen this mentioned.

AQM is in the running for the dumbest mf'er to ever suit up for us. I hope he lands on his feet somewhere, but he can't seem to get out of his own way.

Grace loss is old news, but it's the one that'll affect us the most this upcoming season.

uhhhhh -- No one is even close to Willie Williams

Willie didn't do a single thing wrong while he was here. He didn't get along with onion & refused to play in a zone. He wanted to just play instinctive attacking football.

What a fūcking idiot.

Nut Gargler is on his 12th account.

It's surprising to me how sensitive the Miami admin is to criticism. If you don't want to be criticized, don't do stupid *** things that just beg for criticism.

If you don't want to be negatively recruited against, don't hand **** on a silver platter to our opponents saying "here's how to negatively recruit against us"

Every single cloud, every single thing holding this program back is 100 percent the result of the culture and decisions made by this admin.

Now, they get credit for hiring a great coach. And they get credit for finally building an IPF. But they get to own the bad stuff as well...they don't get to control what their fans say about them

This is a great troll because you've sucked me in even though I know you're trolling.

Exactly why would UM be negatively recruited against for this?

They found out players took a huge amount of impermissible benefits and lost their eligibility as a result. They kicked them off the team after finding out from the NCAA what the penalty was going to be for the amount of benefits they took. Then, to top it all off, they allowed them to stay in school for free and graduate. Yep. Sounds like UM is a real villain here.

Just consider this - if it were really the NCAA's doing and if it were really they who were about to come down hard on the players, then why is Juwon Young currently enrolled at Marshall?

Marshall is a Division 1 school, and it's athletes are subject to the same rules that Miami's are subject to.

I think this was Miami's call to kick the players off the team. They are simply trying to deflect the heat they knew they were going to get from fans and boosters

Don't let the suits off the hook so easily man. Gotta stand up for football against the Tad Footes of the world

Because Juwon broke the rules as a Cane, not as a Marshall Thundering Terd.
Therefore, this is not a Marshall problem.
The burden is on the UM to show that they did their due diligence in handling this issue.
That is all that matters for UM and there is no way they could keep a student-athlete on board
when he lied and therefore compromised their investigation.
You really don't know this?

from poster on other board, makes sense:

Coley, Elder, Carter, Willis were also interviewed and attached to this car drama.. All have been cleared and satisfied all UM questions..

Coley was mainly implicated because he took a ride with two of the guys.. Elder and the others went with the guys but refused to get in the car...

AQM and Grace both got caught after the rental company provided UM investigators evidence of what happened..

It was extremely petty, under $400 in actual rental cost, but both paid the price they deserved to pay for lying...

Time to move forward..

Hahaha. Not 1 word of this is true including the other players.

And he later played at 4-5 different schools....did he also "refused to play zone" at those school?

Willie played at 3 other schools that I can think of but you're comparing things that are polar opposites. While Willie was with us & other schools he had no legal issues or behavioral issues. Willie's problem has always been he's just not all there. He later went to prison. But to compare him to people that are blatantly ****** up wasn't Willie's m.o
That's all I'm saying. His was a mental thing.

Barry ******* tweets investigation is over, Coley in clear. Fat Beast tweets three seconds later they're still looking into Coley. Hooray, south Florida media.

The biggest fake insider you'll find. "Bigger" can be taken more ways than one.

Which one?

Was referring to Beast. Multiple times he's gone against the what Pete has said, only to find out later that Ariz was right.

Didn't Feast also claim that some of our basketball players were embroiled in this mess?

Sounds like total bullshyt from top to bottom.

Had to be something more than that

These boys were riding around in luxury car rentals. I doubt that this was a one-time deal where they got to drive around for a day, then make a promise to the owner for future earnings. On top of that, a lot of these cars go for more than $400 per day.

Anyone can come on this board and throw random facts to the wall, and most apparently wouldn't be any wiser to catch the BS.

I have a strong disdain for Beast. Particularly because of the way he interacted with posters on Canesinsider when Odoi was running the forum. The majority of posters on that board were beyond fed up with Golden and were calling for his head (similar to this forum). What it came down to was him calling us idiots and us having unrealistic expectations and said we needed a lot more talent to compete - even though none of us weren't expecting national titles at the time - just not to lose f'ing games to Duke.

But yeah, I can't take anyone serious like Beast.

I basically agree with everything Franchise said in his initial post. We just simply could not risk potential NCAA infractions and vacated wins by playing these guys.

I also for the most part agree that this is solely on AQM and Grace. They made the choice to do what they did, no one forced them. Perhaps they were somewhat naive but it is what it is.

My main unanswered question is the following.

For weeks now we've been hearing from Porter and Pete, the two most tuned in guys, to expect 1-3 game suspensions for both of the players involved. How did all of a sudden 1-3 games go to permanent dismissal?

I mean I could understand if they had said to expect 6-8 games and then we decided we just couldn't risk it and there was the permanent dismissal - that makes sense. But to go from 1-3 games to gone forever is a huge, huge jump.

As recently as earlier this week it was 1-3 games, so why the escalation in such a short amount of time?

Fellow Fans...

A lot of emotion on this topic to go along with even more misinformed, or flat out wrong, opinions on how the process led to the dismissals and the "who stood up for who against whom"...

Here are the facts of how the process went down procedurally...the corch, croot, and porster crowd can go pollo loco...it still won't chamge the facts nor the rule sets that the member institutions have set for themselves via the NCAA...

The Facts:
1) NCAA member institutions are obligated to conduct investigations of any rumored violations...credible source allegations, social media evidence, a comment from one investigation that can then lead to another, etc...
2) Once a member institution completes the investigation, they are required to report the results to the NCAA, specifically the Enforcements division...HOWEVER...they can report (prior to Enforcements) to the Student Athlete Reinstatement (SAR) division...and here is where the real rub in this case starts...
3) SAR is the stop before Enforcements ONLY WHEN the SA has put themselves into an impermissible situation AND they have potential eligibility remaining even after their suspension punishments...so you ask...what are those??
3a) WHEN SAR reviews the issue (remember Miami had BOTH NCAA and outside counsel review the infractions), they make a "1:1" of "2:1" suspension detemination...and what are those?
3b) "1:1" or "one for one" is where they determine how many games the SA participated in while engaging in the impermissible conduct, then "rrule" for the SA to be reinstated, they will SIT OUT that many future games...brutal in football, not so much in other sports...so for example...if it was discovered that player x was naughty for 5 games....thats right...they will sit out for the next 5 games before SAR will reinstate them...but wait..there is more...
3c) "2:1" or "two for one" is where they determine the exact same thing as "1:1"...HOWEVER...the infraction is deemed more severe and the SA must sit out x2 future games than what they participated in...so if player x was naughty for 5 games...and its a 2:1 level issue...they will then sit out for 10 games before SAR will reinstate them...absolutely crushing for the football season...
4) IF SAR gets involved, they send their ruling to Enforcements..amd the process continues...
5) Regardless if SAR or the member institution delivers the results to Enforcements....they [Enforcements] then decide IF to conduct their own investigation and forward on to the Committee of Infractions (COI) or just, as a formality, forward to COI with a "slap them, hammer them, or close it nothing to see they handled it" recommendation
6) BOTH SAR and COI take into account the institutions history, self imposed penalties, and current probation (if any) status and act accordingly

The Speculation:
1) The SAs involved must have been engaged in impermissible conduct going back to a date where they were participating in X games last season or even longer
2) The MARKET VALUE of the benefit(s) was not a de minimus amount..currently set for D1P5 at ~$150....people here asserting this "it was only $400" are very likely misinformed
3) The pre-SAR review likely determined the number of future games the SAs would have to miss EXCEEDED their reminaing eligibilities...and that might strike at the 2:1 level vs 1:1

UM was forced to make a choice based on the known reactions the NCAA would have based upon UM's actions...
1) Cover it up and risk it being uncovered by an Enforcement division investigation
2) Invesitgate, but then decide "there is nothing to report"...essentially covering it up under the guise of an investigation
3) Recognize the infraction caused a penalty that exceeded the SAs eligibility and decide to cut ties

Under no circumstances, especially in light of UMs recent NCAA history and current probation status (it DOESNT MATTER IT ENDS IN OCTOBER), would Richt or Blake come to the conclusion that Miami's best interest would be served by covering it up or using the nothing to report ruse. People who have led organizations easily understand that choice. Corchs, croots, and porsters go pollo loco over "UM didnt stand up for these two kids".

We can debate the appropriateness or morality of the rule sets all day, but given what they are, right now, in fact, the decision discussion wouldnt have lasted 2 seconds.

Are these two SAs, good kids they might be, worth risking massive sanctions and damage to UM's recovering program? You are simply out of touch if you think so. No player is worth that type of damage...not Kaaya, not Reed, Lewis, Vilma, pick any Hurricane GOAT...not a single one of them is worth that.

For sure these rule sets need a major overhaul, but they are what is in place today, and Miami along with these two SAs, have to live within that reality.
