Any Word from HS Coaches that were Clamoring for Mario?

Not upset about Richt over Mario. Nor has anyone I have spoken with upset. Its a Homerun hire. Point is Mario NEEDS to be back in Miami somewhere on this staff or he will continue doing damage regardless of who we bring in.
Continue to do damage? He has 0 players from Miami on bama and only 3 from broward

Only 3 huh, well thank the Lord he only hand delivered the next great Top 5 NFL draft pick WR from South Florida to Bama. Im sure Calvin Ridley wouldnt have looked good in Orange and Green, nor would have Burgess.

Calvin Ridley would just like all the other talented receivers we have this year with our terrible O-line and nonexistent running game.

I know, Alabama could never get a quality WR talent out of south florida without Cristobal right?

Yeah, that's why they've had to fall back on guys like Julio Jones.

No rational person would be upset at the U taking Richt over Mario.

U think he's a good recruiter based on Ridley ? Stop It

Havent seen anything

My boy who is a HC at a DADE county HS said he loves the hire. He still would like to see Mario at the U. Said Mario would lock down the 305. Is EXTREMELY respected in the streets. Told me a story about a time Mario was at his game on the field and another coach from Florida came onto the field to recruit the same kid Mario was and Mario calmly walked up to the coach from behind and told him quietly in his ear "If you dont get off this field right now Im going to beat your ****ing ***" and the coach turned around saw Mario and left the game. That coach by the way went on to win a National championship at 2 different schools.

All you **** boys who didnt want Mario here can kick rocks.

Keep Mario far far away from this program.

We have a real coach now. Not someone who regressed at FIU

U sound like that whitw girl on twitter. Hated Butch but love Mario. Weird as ****

No he doesn't. well, actually, I suppose if a TE position coach spot opens or MAYBE OLC, then it's ok. But what's the point? He would just pick up and leave at the next opportune spot.

Mario wants to be in Miami. He still has his house here. His family lives here. His wife is here all the time. If we can get him as OL coach or TE coach that would be great. Why is it ok for other coaches to come and go at Miami as they have done for the last 30 years but not Mario? If he got an opportunity to come back he would, if that opportunity then presented an opportunity to be a head coach again at another program why would we not support him in that move? He is a CANE

Hey JohnHolmes how did Alabama get Amari Cooper? Name one dude from South FLorida that Mario crooted to FIU that he beat out a top college for?

It's flawed thinking. Mario wasn't the recruiter assigned to those kids...Genron was, if you get my drift.

lol, ok. Keep believing that but that dude was front and center with those kids from the 7x7 days.

So in 3 years at Bama, he got 2 players from all of South Florida. Man, that South Florida connection is really working out for Bama huh.

His first class at BAMA was 2014, second was 2015. He recruits more than south florida. He has landed more 5 star recruits at Bama the last 2 years than Miami has had in TOTAL the last 10.

Yes Saban signs off on every recruit, yes Saban is a big reason for this success. But it still does not take away from the fact that nearly every HS coach in south Florida loves Mario, respects Mario, and would like to see him at Miami. Why is that difficult to comprehend?

Easy Mario. Same guy who claims to be a Jimmy disciple, but played for Dennis. He's credible...

BBCD!

Go Canes!

There are like 10 7v7 teams just in Dade, spend a few minutes learning who they are and who he was associated with. They all have beef among themselves. Beard and Biaz both came over from the same 7v7 team causing backlash on the recruiting trail. Each team has a click and influence in various HS circles.

here is why this is a complete lie

1. Coaches (head or assistant) DO NOT like burning any bridges.. specially when it comes to big name coach. This coaches going from school to school every 2 years is nothing new and you develop a reputation for yourself.

2. Mario is NOT that guy.. he is not a street cat, also incase you forgot this is big business.. this is Chess not checkers.

to come on to a message board, make up a story for some strange reason.... you need to re-evaluate your life...get a pet or something man..

That's a dumb ******* story considering Mario has yet to pull a Dade county player to Alabama.

He was involved with two of those three. The third one was Eddie Jackson, recruited by Jeff Stoutland before Mario was even there.

What are the coaches saying?

CaneSport reached out to high school coaches for their reaction to the Mark Richt hiring by Miami today. Here's what they had to say:

* Coconut Creek (FL) High School coach Kareem Reid, whose star player Malek Young committed to Richt at Georgia: "I've spoken with (Richt) a few times. He's obviously a solid guy. He's laid back, but I wouldn't say he's soft-spoken. He's a very approachable, guy, a likeable character. I think he's a good coach. He's a home run hire for Miami because he's proven and I think he understands Miami being a former Hurricane."

Of Young, Reid says "He's always looked at Miami, was going to wait and see who they brought in and go from there. And the same at Georgia. Now he'll take a hard look at Miami - his parents are big Hurricane fans. He'll take a visit and look at the assistants."

Of why Young didn't consider UM much earlier, Reid said, "because we all knew if (Al) Golden didn't win he'd be out, the program wasn't trending in the right direction."

* Pembroke Pines (FL) Flanagan High School Devin Bush: "I had Mark Richt at Florida State, he was my offensive coordinator when I was there. He's a standup family guy, going to be straightforward with players. Any parent that sends their kid, they knows he'll be good. (Richt) is a great guy. He doesn't put on a show, is going to coach you hard, you'll be able to talk to him. He cares about you, you'll go to his house, that's just how he is. It's like you're part of his family.

Bush says recruiting in South Florida will be strong under Richt.

"He got Sony Michel, other kids from down here," Bush said. "Him being in Florida, Mark can go into anyone's home here and sell it."

Does this change the Miami program around quickly?

"Yeah," Bush said. "(Brad) Kaaya, look at Mark Richt, he's great with quarterbacks. Charlie Ward won the Heisman with us, Chris Weinke too. Then he had those quarterbacks at Georgia, Matthew Stafford. Mark Richt does great things with quarterbacks, knows what to do, will use different formations and will develop talent."

Bush adds one parting thought: He says his son, four-star LB Devin Bush Jr., will now have a much stronger interest in the Canes.

"Mark Richt is there, I know him," dad said. "I know what I'm going to get. But Mark hasn't reached out to him yet, so I don't know the conversations he might have."

* Naples (Fla.) High School coach Bill Kramer: "He's a great dude. We've done a couple of functions where we both spoke, I've known guys on his staff. I have insight into his program, how he ran it. He and his wife are as quality human beings as there are on the planet. That's awesome."

How long does he see for a UM turnaround with Richt at the helm?

"I think the turnaround will be quick with him," Kramer said. "This whole idea of a fix-it-right-now, it happens on occasion, but there are so many variables."

What is Richt like as a recruiter?

"He's authentic, honest, energetic, very charismatic," Kramer said. "And the best thing about him is he tells the truth. He tells the truth all the time."

* Miami Monsignor Pace High School coach Joe Zaccheo: "There's no doubt Mark's a great coach, I just hope he still has the fire in him. I wonder how his demeanor sits with our South Florida kids. I don't know, our kids are a little different down here. He's been up in Georgia 15 years, has won the SEC twice. When I talk to people in the SEC they aren't real big on him, say he'll win you 10 games but when's he going to win you a championship. But that's not my opinion because I really don't know. I'm not saying it's a bad choice, I like the guy - you can't argue that he's won games up there. I don't know, like a lot of people asked when I came back `Do you still have it?' He's a laid-back guy, there's no question he knows football, knows how to recruit, has put some great players to Georgia. There's no questioning the guys ability, what he can do, I just hope he brings what Miami needs. Miami has that certain swagger - when you go in a home and talk about Christian life that'll be big in recruiting, but how does it play on the field?"

* Weston (FL) Cypress Bay High School coach Mark Guandolo: "I've known Mark for a long time. He's been recruiting down here. They got a great leader, and that's where it starts when someone takes over a big program like Miami. So they got a man that's going to lead the program and do it the right way. He's a man of his word, has won at the highest level. A lot of people can do it once in a while, but when you can consistently win year after year, you're doing something right. That's the big thing. So I'm excited about it. UM fans should be really excited about the hire.

"It's not going to be an easy road, but they have the right man in the spot that's going to lead the program in the right direction."

Of Richt as a recruiter, Guandolo says "he's diligent and he's come down and done well. He comes into your house and he's a God-fearing man, a man of his word. That means a lot to the parents and people that want to send their kid to the school. So he's going to come in and have some respect right away. Now he's got to surround himself with great assistants. People will gravitate to him, he's been in the business a long time, knows a lot of people. I hope they give him the money to bring the right people in."

* Miami Central High School coach Roland Smith: "Mark has won ever since he's been at Georgia. He won as offensive coordinator at Florida State. He's a Cane, knows about South Florida, does a good job recruiting kids in South Florida. You can't go wrong with Mark. He's a Christian guy, great leader. I'm happy for him and his family."

* Miami (Fla.) Columbus coach Chris Merritt: "Over the years he's recruited some of our kids. I know he's a good quality standup guy. He's what Miami needs. He recruits South Florida, has had success recruiting South Florida and most important he's a proven winner."

Does Merritt see a long turnaround process at UM?

"I don't think so," he said. "They have talent now. It's not like he's taking over a dog, he's taking over a possibly nine win team. And it's not an old team. He'll have weapons."

* Miami Norland coach Daryle Heidelburg: "To me he's done a solid job at Georgia. This is his alma mater, so that'll give him some support. He'll be involved coaching the quarterbacks and we have (brad) Kaaya, so that might have been part of his decision, too, that he doesn't have to go and get a new quarterback."

He adds that UM is "a sleeping giant. The right guy, right spark and it could be great. If it catches right with coach Richt and the staff, it can catch on fire."

* Miami Killian High School coach Cory Johnson: "I know he's a very spiritual man, a very good man. His teams have never had problems off the field. He produces good kids and recruits good kids. That much I know. If he can turn around Miami quickly, that remains to be seen. I don't know what he'll implement at the program, but I know it's a whole different ball of wax from up there at Georgia as far as facilities and stuff, traveling to a stadium, how South Florida kids really are. South Florida and Georgia kids are way different. It's going to be a new experience and maybe what we need down here is a totally different experience. Maybe it's just what we need."

* Miami Southridge High School coach Billy Rolle: "When I was at Northwestern he recruited a few of my kids. I think out of the candidates I think he's a great choice. Especially because he's a UM guy even though he came up in the late 1970s, early 1980s - that was the time the dynasty kicked off with Jim Kelly. Mark, the things he did as an offensive coordinator at Florida State, the amount of he did at Georgia - they holler about he never won the big one, but how many people can you say won the big one in the SEC?"

Can he win the big one at Miami, get to an ACC title game quickly?

"I think he'll get them back going," Rolle said. "He's not a farmer, you know what I'm saying. He has a lot of UM fan base so he should pack the stadium."

Adding Mario on this staff would pay off big time.

Crazy how people don't get that.

If the recruiting buzz hasn't already got you excited Mario would just bring more.

I would not doubt it if Richt reaches out to him because he is smart like Saban and if he is good enough for Saban up in Bama he would be gold in in SFL.

These coaches ain't lying, dudes just got their panties in a wad over Mario for some reason.

Dude is a Cane... Bring me home Richt... Let's lock this shiat down fast so we can dominate now.

I have a feeling that "johnholmes" is a shared account between Joaquin Gonzalez and Joe Rose.
