Any idea on Barkate’s ….

Speed/40 times? We know he was Mensah’s favorite target at Duke but is he like Restrepo- good route runner not so much a speedster?
Think he’s pretty fast, but maybe not. Could be faster, though maybe fast enough. Good hands, route runner, tough . . . not sure on speed, but may be fast. Not sure.

Thats Racist GIF
In all honesty Barkate is plenty fast

Vance Spafford on the other hand. I know Wingo is the one everyone is talking about as far as freshmen but Spafford is absurdly fast

Lots of sad FSU DBs are gonna be seeing this kids taillights for a few years

Remember Jerry Rice? He was a 4.71 forty guy ... that worked his *** off, ran perfect routes, excelled at contested catches, and LEARNED how to get separation. Barkate is similar in that regard ... he runs "smart" and knows how to use his skills. Pure speed? He has been clocked between 4.56 - 4.67 from all that I have seen in a casual search. BUT he runs "smart" and works his *** off, with the result that he was one of the THE top WR's in the country in 2025 and was wanted by many when he entered the portal (including ND). Lucky to have the man.
This! There is a big difference between track times and functional speed on the field.

I think his speed is similar to that of Jacolby George. Track time around 4.6, but looks very fast playing.

High point catch is impressive. Acceleration to outrun the safety can't be taught! (top right video)

Posted youtube video bc twitter link won't show the play I'm speaking on.

Idk how Mario pulled this off but this guy is my favorite WR portal pickup this year

Fans are obsessed with 40 times. The average NFL WR runs a 4.5. Very few are running a 4.3. That's why they are valuable. Who is faster Barkate or Toney? They don't need be burners.

OP this is only partially directed at you - just some of the comments in this thread are like mind blowing….for you - we have a speed guy transferring in from USCe, can’t fill ur roster with nothing but burners, need different archetypes as well.

Dude is a baller that finished top 5 in our conference in yards and TDs.

Holy crap - we’re truly in offseason mode here.

When I look at him play, I dont even care about his forty time lol. But from the looks of it, he's not slow. I'd probably put him in the low 4.5 range, but it doesn't matter because he catches the ball, gets separation, and excels at contested catches. This is exactly what we need, someone else other than Toney who will consistently get open and catch the ball
